Yup, it's that small
>>
But enough about your penis OP...
>>
>>720283239
Got one of GTA 3?
>>
>>720283239
It really is small, when you consider that Tommy can't swim.
>>
>>720283239
Fun fact: the picture was made using The Sims 3
>>
>>720283239
What game is this screenshot from anyway?
I don't mean Vice City, obviously it's supposed to be Vice City but it looks like someone remade it in a city builder or something.
>>
>>720283678 here
>>720283667
Damn, your post loaded in just as I clicked submit. But thanks.
>>
>>720283239
It was as big as it needed to be
>>
And yet it's ten times better than GTA V
>>
>>720283239
>island is already tiny
>20% of land surface is just sand with nothing to do but run over npcs with the dune buggy
Yeah once the rose tinted glasses of nostalgia come off you realize how much this map sucked

It was just a fluke right? No map they've made before or afterwards has come close
>>
>>720283857
The designers were masters of making the map seem bigger than it really is through the power of map design and biomes.

On the other hand San Fierro was kinda ass and inconsequential.
>>
>>720283857
Except las venturas is awful.
>>
>>720283897
>San Fierro
Best part of the game. Because Sweet is nowhere to be seen.
>>
>>720283239
It felt small even back then.
>>
>>720283239
Let me guess. You need more?
>>
>>720283897
It's just low draw distance/fog lol
>>
>>720283239
>Yup, it's that small
That's the best thing about it. It doesn't suffer with open world slop because of its size.
>>
>>720284072
so thats all it takes to beat modern games? You realize that makes Sa even better, right?
>>
>>720284072
No, it's mostly road design.
>>
>>720283897
San Fierro is great, the hilly terrain and sloped streets give it soul.

>>720283902
It was. All I remember is that one double road down the middle

>>720283943
Best part of the game is definitely the countryside
>>
>>720283239
This is the shittiest GTA city design ever.
>>
>>720283857
I wonder if we'll ever get a good GTA game again.
>>
>>720283857
Why did they remove the weight mechanics after SA? It was a fun little feature.
>>
>>720284249
San Fierro was underutilised, that's why it's ass. It's quite literally a flyover location. You're there for such a brief period of time before moving on. A filler location if you will. All I remember about it are the Chinese guy, the terrible driving school missions and the even more terrible RC car missions.
>>
>>720284357
It was a plane
>>
>>720284249
>definitely the countryside
I was including Badlands as part of Fierro. It's too short to separate as a different part. Just like people include Toreno missions as part of Venturas.
>>
>>720283239
Maybe but it made it easier to memorize it and by the end of the game you could go reach whatever destination you needed to be at from any point without the need of the GPS marker. That's something that was really cool and made the game feel more like a real city for me rather than a video game level.
>>
>>720284357
>underutilised
There are more missions in Fierro than desert and venturas combined. And only one less mission than santos(not counting the return, obviously).
>>
>>720283857
I loved that map so much. I didn't like the soundtrack as much as Vice City, and the story was schizo nonsense that jumped from gang war to conspiracy shit to a road trip to gang war again, but the game was 15/10.
I think I'll play it again as my next game.
>>
Vice City Stories turned the map into a 10/10
>>
>>720284792
Also, there's nothing worse than return to Los Santos in that game. Almost all cutscenes consist of Sweet bitching and moaning, capturing the same territories for a second time, riot.
>>
>>720284914
Even worse, even if you go by his logic that you need to handle your own business: CJ was doing it! He was single handedly dismantling the entire drug network that was supplying the Ballas rather than doing the gang-banging shit that Sweet wanted where you confront the ballas directly in pointless violence. He was going up the chain of command, even eliminating that turncoat Ryder before going up against the last one: Big Smoke.

Fuck you sweet you bitching ass nigga.
>>

They sawed off a tiny part of Miami with all the criminals on it to banish them on a prison island.

Said your mother about my penis but she ended up liking it a lot in her ass
>>
>>720284072
It's not just that, it's the terrain and roads which force you to drive longer and I think the max speed you move on is manipulated too in some way.

I'd expect Vice City to be that small, what I didn't expect is that GTAV's LS is this tiny

San Andreas never felt like it was foggy, its atmosphere and clarity are a distant dream for modern games
>>
>>720283239
what do they eat?
>>
>>720286769
The huge mountains make it looks bigger that it is, but yeah, it's not very big. The only way to do real high speed racing is to follow the road that circumnavigate the entire island. It's masterful in appearing big but being relatively tiny.

fucking hate that every fucking city in the gta universe is located on an island. immersive borders my ass, since when did the united states become an archipelagic state?
>>
>>720287228
I'd rather have islands than "YOU MUST TURN BACK" or invisible walls.
>>
>>720283239
At least you can go inside the buildings, right?
>>
>>720287281
I'd rather have a resemblance that there's an actual country beyond the city limits, not an endless ocean which is never mentioned by anyone
>>
>>720283857
>Find a little roadside town in the middle of nowhere with property
>Spend a couple of days there just chilling, maybe doing some taxt missions, but mostly just
driving around in the rain listening to I love a rainy night with the Thunderstorm cheat on for maximum comfy
>After a long day, come back home and go live in your comfy little house in the middle of nowhere
>You don't even have to engage with any of this and it doesn't get you anything, its just there if you want to

These always felt like they existed on the outskirts of the game itself - like a little oasis disconnected from the rest of the game where you could do whatever you felt like
>>
>>720287397
There's the implication that Los Santos was a peninsula and that a massive tsunami flooded the place and cut it from the mainland.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=e-YG7aSEjd8
>>
>>720286769
GTA V's biggest problem is that 90% of the actual game content is in Los Santos
They really dropped the ball not atleast including San Fiero or Las Venturas as a extra city
>>
>>720286769
those interchanges make me hard tho
>>
>>720283239
Why didn't Tommy take swimming lessons during those 15 years in the can?
>>
>>720287512
I always loved doing this myself. The cities were okay, but the best part was always exploring the wilderness and countryside.
I once managed to derail the train and get the various carriages flung into that lake near that small town to the north of Los Santos. That was neat.

>Pack game with a bunch of half finished gameplay features
>They actually mostly work well
>Make a goofy story that starts with gangbanging in your local neighborhood and ends with you stealing jetpacks from govt bases and doing casino heists
>It actually works and is kino and the characters are some of the best in the series
>Crunch three cities, a desert, a mountain, the countryside and whatever Bayside is into what in hindsight is a small map
>It still feels massive and like a real adventure
>Add in some fairly middling to ugly graphics for the time due to the sheer amount of content
>It still looks better than the definitive edition
>Throw in the usual kino GTA radio stations
>Packed with cute little features like shop shutters closing at night
>A slew of iconic glitches (Ghost world etc)
>Packed with myths and legends (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Ue2Xmei2iQ)

They were rolling double sixes on everything in this game, it's beautiful
>>
Retards keep making these comparisons without accounting for game speed and travel time
>>
>>720288915
That doesn't change the objective amount of streets and buildings present in the game, if you walked at a snail's pace the game wouldn't magically feel bigger
>>
>>720283239

>>
>>720287397

>>
>>720285882
Yeah, all cars have massive amounts of drag and surprisingly lame top speeds, the game just abuses FOV and camera effects to make it feel like you're still accelerating to a much higher top speed than you really are.
>>
>>720283857

I have played this game so many times now and there's still game features I haven't used/seen

>Find out the other day Truth calls you a fatass on the jetpack mission and refuses to let you do it if your weight's above a certain level

Kino
>>
>>720283857
Do you think having a glove trotting adventure is the key to a memorable open world? Spend X time on Area 1, get forced by story reasons to more to Area 2, spend time there, repeat and then return back to Area 1 to close the circle.
>>
>>720283857
The desert felt massive in SA
>>
But it felt big
>>
thats what she did not say
>>
>>720287228
Liberty City had a mountain you couldn't pass
