OP here, it's genuine. The game just isn't for me. I BARELY beat Hollow Knight and stopped playing at the ending where you take it's place. That took 50 hours for me. Silksong isn't significantly different. The world is open enough that the player may pass through various paths without the need to unlock them via story triggers. Most paths are locked behind abilities or fights.
If you've encountered a sharp increase in difficulty, that is the game locking you out of the path. You should simply go find a different easier path, and come back to the harder path when you're more skilled or your character is more powerful.

I see you complained about ants and birds. Well you don't have to go that path yet. You could have opted to go a different easier route.

As someone who has played and beaten hundreds of games, I will say that Silksong has definite flaws. The problem is it's impossible to discuss here in most cases because since it's "le hard" every argument devolves into "git gud". I would argue that everything doing double damage is a stupid mechanic, and damage upgrades not actually mattering in the sense of how many hits it takes to kill an enemy is also stupid. I also don't like tanky flying enemies. They're flying creatures, they should less health not more.

this, in my experience silksong isnt as open as HK for this, I remember HK being like 2 major paths (+1 with some jank movement and enemy bouncing / luring)
each lead to 2 or 3 routes that lead to powers that you can push on or backtrack with to open more routes
in the end theres dozens of paths through HK, not all of them are 'wrong' beyond a point

silksong feels a little more linear, in that theres usually 2-3 routes but they all end relatively similarly before passing through a 'gate' to the next major set of areas, less like a branching net and more like 3 muscles
but its open enough that you can absolutely skip areas and there are some side routes that go in massively different locations, like say the wormways in act 1 letting you skip all of greymoor, farfields and hunters march if you want
Hunters March is basically just a short path for skilled players to skip over the deep docks and reach greymoor earlier.
if someone got stuck on the ants I'd just say go under HM and go to the docks first.

id argue against the double damage complaint in that some attacks probably should do more damage than others, whether or not silksong balances that well enough, I dunno yet I need more time, but a boss or slow attack doing 2 damage while an ankle biter does 1 is fine by me
but also, remember you heal way better than in HK, you heal 3 hp in the time HK has healed 1 hp and is half way to healing a second. And you reach enough silk to heal much faster too.

I reckon the 2 damage attacks were to balance that out more. Though contact damage being 2 damage feels awful, especially when THE BOSS WAS STUNNED

Where are you? Im 9 hours in and just reached Act 2 (Citadel), and none of the bosses nor sections felt cheap. Take the Judge for example which Ive seen many people struggle with. It took me like 10 tries because Im playing high as fuck and sometimes I forget which button does what (my bad), but the boss literally has 4 moves only, and its the same for the rest. Even if you die multiple times, it always feels doable
