It's a good 6 hour game stretched out to 20 hours. I'll never understand why fans coped and seethed when reviewers pointed out the game wasn't scary, it was boring and tedious by the time credits rolled.
>>
>>720291373
It would be tolerable if you removed the whole 5+ hours where the dumbass robots hijack the story
>>
>>720291373
multiplayer mode last survivor wins huge complex lots of places to hide
does that exist?
>>
It really is just way too long for what it offers, and it's not even that long, my nightmare difficulty playthrough only took 15 hours but the ideal pacing/length would have been half that.

>It's a good 6 hour game stretched out to 20 hours.
And I enjoyed every single second of it. Here's to the sequel!
>>
>>720291373
I enjoyed it except the end section, that part sucked
>>
>>720291373
I uninstalled it because I kept dying minutes into the game where the humans are trying to kill you, shit stealth
>>
>>720292905
Someone looked at Steam achievements and there is a stark dropoff before players even reach the first Alien. A majority of players don't make it past medical.
>>
You are supposed to chase the alien away and not hide in the closet for hours faggot
>>
What are we expecting for Alien Isolation 2? Should it take influence from Aliens?

I loved it because the universe they put you in is so faithfully recreated. it's nice to explore even if the Alien is no longer scary.

I hope CA still employs the same developers now for AI2...
>>
>>720292965
Those people were probably expecting FNAF with aliens, Creative Assembly wisely kept it more of a slow burn like the movie
>>
>>720293027

This. Fucking retards hiding in closets. You just walk in this game you don't crouchwalk or run. Just confidently walk and the Alien will respect you.
>>
Playing it on my oled with HDR enabled (via renodx) with some quality headphones with the volume turned up is a top spooks experience. Plus I can run it at 8k because the game always ran well.

disappointment

yuck

I got to the "sixth mission" wherever that was. Felt like the game was just starting there, but I was kinda exhausted from the shitty robot sections and human sections before that. I was like "wow, finally, I get to play the game tomorrow" and then just never opened it again and it's been 7 years now.

The parts with humans were fucking garbage and I was pissed whenever I had to sneak past any humans, 0 immersion and it just felt dumb. For people incredibly on edge and listening to any little clank or clink, they sure were both way too dumb and not perceptive enough, but also from a gameplay perspective annoyingly perceptive.

I really should boot this up again.
>>
>spooky game that isn't a straight resident evil or amnesia clone
>/v/ hates it
checks out
>>
Whole game was turning on generators / restoring the power for 20 hours
>>
>>720293438
but... it is Amnesia clone..?
>>
>>720293435
Or I completed the sixth mission, that is.
>>
>>720293468
You can trivialize literally every game to nothing if you try hard enough.

>woah, Silksong is just jumping around and wacking things for 20 hours
>>
>>720293556
but it is no turn left simulator
>>
>>720293468
Dead Space was hilarious in that regard because it was just
>"Isaac, you just need to fix this one thing so we can get the hell out of here!"
>Fix thing
>"Great job Isaac! Now we can just-- OH NO! [Bad thing] happened and [other thing] fucking exploded. Go to scary spooky area and fix [other thing]"
>Fix other thing
>"Great job Isaac! Now we can just-- OH NO! [Bad thing] happened and [other thing] fucking exploded. Go to scary spooky area and fix [other thing]"
>Repeat until game ends
I just found this really funny somehow. There was never a list of five things you needed to fix to get out. It was always one thing, and as soon as you fixed that one thing, (in)conveniently something else immediately exploded.
>>
It took me 22 hours to beat this game on hard getting almost all achievements and I thought it was reasonable length. Some of the minigames and sections with no gameplay were a little too long but it wasn't too bad
>>
>>720293438

Nonsense. /v/ absolutely adored AI and the threads about it were great fun. There are always going to be retards that fixate on some bullshit to claim "bad game".

Oh no this fantastic Alien game is too long!

>Game is called "Isolation"
>Makes you feel isolated
I love when games make sense like this
>>
It isn't even scary unlike good horror games like outlast.
>>
>>720291373
So just stop playing after the lab section. Ripley gets shot into the atmosphere of the gas giant with the Ayy and dies with it. That's the end of the game. Happy?
>>
>>720291553
You are being hysterical.
The robots were cool.

>Should it take influence from Aliens?
Only by proxy with something like Romulus, like it did with Isolation.
I want a colony + small station/ship setting, zero-g sections, more spacewalks ala Prey 2017, some super synth/cyborg from Erf as a boss fight and some proper VR implementation.
Maybe some bombastic final set piece where Amanda fucking dies and its over for good. Then a post-credit scene where they show Burke talking about Amanda with Ellen, showing her a fake pic of her as a granny, teasing a Aliens: The game and then everyone claps and shut the fuck up for once
>>
I want to have complete sexual intercourse with Amanda.

Retards who escaped the abortion clinic.
>>720293468
>Ocarina of Time was just pushing blocks into holes
>Alien Isolation was about welding and using jacks to start up generators
And that's a good thing, ADHD zoomer. Maybe your type of game is the instant spawn, near instant death multiplayer battle arena slop like Fortnite or Call of Duty.
>>720294016
It is an obnoxious subset of people who come from Reddit, Facebook, Resetera and cry about games being too long. Maybe don't fucking play video games if you hate them. Alien Isolation is a longer than average horror game, that is true. That isn't a sin. What they meant to say, but can't express themselves properly since illiteracy and ADHD has crippled many today, is that the pacing for Alien Isolation is inconsistent to carry every story beat. When the robotd subplot kicks in, the game should've been paced better. Cutting things out if it was boring, that I totally get. Not looking at a game and saying "JRPG BAD FOR 100 hours" or "HORROR GAME BAD FOR 20 HOURS" like the adult failures Redditors, Twitter, Facebook, Resetera abortion survivors act.

>What are we expecting for Alien Isolation 2? Should it take influence from Aliens?
Isolation was made under the X360/PS3 RAM 512MB 5400RPM HD console gen. Isolation 2 is going to jump to 16GB RAM SSD gen, this is going to be huge. I hope they incorporate the xeno's acid blood in some capacity like permanently changing the environment. I want more immersive sim elements. Isolation sits between the 3D Metroid and Bioshock and Amnesia Dark Descent in terms of game design. My biggest fear is they do a planet with the open world, because the Alien will simply not be fun to fight outside.
>>
>>720291373
Finished it on hard back at release but it's always too spoopy for me to go back to, never get far in a subsequent playthrough
>>
ahaha, i'm in danger!
>>
>>720291373
Almost all of the missions after 10 could have been scrapped. After the false ending in mission 10 you should have ended up in the hive, overloaded the reactor, and one more segment where you escape aliens and get to the ship. Roll credits there. All the padding missions ruin the pacing and tension.
>>
>>720296096
You are fucking bonkers.
Robots bad.
>>
>>720292905
There is a problem with how they introduce enemies. The first time you encounter enemy humans you have nothing to defend yourself with and you have to go in the middle of a room and hack some thing, but when you do it triggers alarms and a bunch of guys enter the room and start patrolling. A normal player is going to immediately go hide so they don't get killed. And now you are stuck with absolutely nothing, not a single tool to help you deal with the enemies.
What you are actually supposed to do is ignore the alarms, don't worry about the people coming in the room and keep hacking and then you will get your stuff you need to actually play the game.
If you go into hiding you will be nearly softlocked. You have to really abuse the AI and savescum to get back to the thing you were supposed to do.

Why can't devs into saturation and contrast? Especially in games taking place at night.
Where are the fucking darks???
It's like every protagonist nowadays is wearing some color numbing contact lenses that water everything down into a meh slur of boring colors where contrast doesn't exist.
They keep saying graphics are improving yet even basics like that are somehow getting more and more shit somehow...

Protip: HDR can solve this but HDR is a mess on multiple fronts, ESPECIALLY on the display panel side.

>it was boring and tedious by the time credits rolled
People don't want to admit it for several reasons
One of the reasons is that it's still a good game
But holy shit, I never finished it
My last attempt was at the nest where I was hiding from several aliens with a flamethrower, but I just couldn't finish it, I got bored to death

Still a good game
And VERY well optimized
>>

What is your edit supposed to represent?
It's just pitch black and very dark
This >>720298919 is better
>>
>>720294016
>>720297360
You idiots can't even comprehend what the op is talking about
It's not that it's just "too long"
RDR2 is a long game, but only actual imbeciles complain about it
And Alien is boringly long. It's unnecessary long. It doesn't have any variation, you do the same thing for the whole game. And it does get old at some point
>>
>>720300776
nta but consider that the person who did the edit might be viewing it on an IPS panel which physically can't get dark enough, so to them the edited version looks okay while to many others it is just lmao black crush.

>20 hours
Every time someone says this I know they're a drooling retard who spent all game holding CTRL.
