>Ruins your run
2 is better
>nullifies all stress gained from the run
>>720351131Dude is literally just free loot.
I run into this guy fucking every dungeon and kill him effortlessly. Basic fucking enemies are deadlier than this. I only get a gem worth 3,500 for my troubles. What a waste of time. Playing on bloodmoon btw.
>>720351447He's a funny guy, he brings levity.
>>720351131I gave up on this game after I lost my primary team and they were permanently dead.Couldn't be fucked having to rebuild.
I want more characters for DD2
>>720351709This is why you should play DD2 instead. It doesn't do any of that gay "Grind your team back up again" shit. The building up is cumulative.
>>720351447>>720351656Just did the Miller quest. Jester was playing for dear life to combat the stress, battle ballad made sure vestal could take everyone off death's door before the next reaping and then he scored a finale for 69 damage, winning me the fight. MVP of all MVPs.>>720351721>>720351769I quit DD2. I don't like how bosses are, oh, you either picked the exact correct loadout 2 hours ago or you're fucked.
>>720351818The bosses in DD1 are like that too, the only difference is you can cheese them with bullshit more easily. I don't see a problem with figuring out how a boss works, what its gimmick is, and then accounting for that on your next run.
>>720351904I don't want to fucking plan out my entire afternoon before I even start a run. In DD1 I can pick out a team and go fight the boss in 10-15 minutes, and in the longer quests like the Baron I can just switch to a different team right before the boss.
>>720352043It's not that complicated and ultimately just always ends up being "Have a party that can overall consistently hit the front ranks and back ranks"
>>720352142I guess I could give it another shot, I do love DD1. Is there like an easy guide to what my team comp absolutely needs to have prior to each boss?
>>720352293The game also got patched to be less punishing, so you'll have an easier time. Having said that, you can always look up them on the wiki to see what their moves are. You can intuit the strategy right there with how the moves work and their conditions without needing to read the guides. But the wiki pages have also guides on how to beat them.
>>720352293https://darkestdungeon.wiki.gg/wiki/Bosses_(Darkest_Dungeon_II)
>Lose characters>Just recruit more>Everyone is expendableFun
>>720351709>permanentlyNot if you get a free graveyard resurrection town event
>>720353243Red Hook is a bad developer
>>720352293Hellion Ravager. It sound boring but she's by far the best character in the game.> hits hard 1, 2 and 4> can move around> incredible self-sustain> has not 1 but 2 damage buffs
>>720351131>imblyign :DDD *SNORT*
>>720351131I fought him and honestly he wasn't that big of a deal.
>>720351709Just have multiple teams and don't be afraid to just hire low levels to march in and die.Sterling wasn't wrong when he said the game was a good allegory to how corporate America works.
>>720351131>>Ruins your runThats not the shambler
>>720353243You can never remove the pain of losing your A-Team though.>>720356336Now *thats* a run ender.
>>720351371Dunno if>betterBut I'd say that it was a very good game, that was fundamentally misunderstood by (((gamers))). It made some interesting and at times necessary changes. It's possible it would've been better to release it under a spin-off name, to lessen the immature backlash it recieved?
>>720354296>resurrects 75% of your worst straight-off-the-wagon Apprentice run of nobodies
>>720351371Although I don't like kingdoms mode. Already put more hours in 2 than 1 because I don't focus on it as a main game but every few weeks I feel the urge and do a few runs. I'm not sure the point of the crypt added in the abom dlc though, feels like a harder sub region which almost seems to defeat the purpose
>>720358306It's a fun area. Pretty easy if you have a very mobile team with a Duelist or a Jester. They have fun reusable items, too.
>>720356938>It's possible it would've been better to release it under a spin-off name, to lessen the immature backlash it recieved?I suppose. Part of the backlash also had to do with EGS. I think it was never gonna be as big a success as DD1 no matter what, though.
>>720356938>the crimson courtHeh, nothing personal kid
>>720351131Meh he's just a surprise loot box (assuming you dont get godawful RNG and roll triple highwaymen every turn)The Fanatic, however....will ruin your day.
>>720351371>A game so bad it even killed the narrator>better
>>720359149ebin meme
>>720359076
>>720358306Kingdoms is funner than the main game. I like how you need to adapt to the situations. Lost a hero? Tough shit, get one of the others and keep going.
>>720351131For me it's the Swine [Royalty]
>>720356336
>>720351818I disagreePlayed some DD2 during the free weekend and beat not-cthulu, chirurg, death, brain & locks and monster lungs first try, librarian second try
>>720351818>shitter detected
>>720351371>blocks the sequel's path
>>720351131you can just stun that nigga
>>720351818>"you either picked the exact correct loadout 2 hours ago or you're fucked"https://youtu.be/0GW-Y445jUc?si=dNUJHqEzQh5l4EC2&t=64
>>720361723The game has been balanced a bit since then. It was way more of a pain in the ass before. The lungs in particular were way worse back then.Last I checked, the not-cthullu is still a big pain in the ass now, so good job on that.
>>720363470lol
>>720363668Leviathan is the worst lair boss by far, yes, and harder than every not confession boss other than The Collector (Who is way harder in DD2 since you can't just stunlock him)
>>720359401I like Kingdom a lotThey should add a version of it where there's no main quest or time limit and it's just you fucking around in a big mapBut they would also need to add at least a couple above ground areas first, which I don't think is happening
Most overrated series in /v/ history
>>720366663Are there better cosmic horror indie games that I'm unaware of?
>>720359227>yfw release fanatic
>>720359424Don't fuck the swinefolk.
>>720351131>>720353243reminder that there is no point in playing the game on any difficulty other than stygianthe fact that darkest difficulty doesn't have a max limit on runs completely ruins the overall challenge of the game, since you can always just grind endlessly and retreat endlessly whenever you want with very minimal punishment
>>720367398You mean bloodmoon, right? Anything else is unironically journo mode.
>>720363668Thanks, actually a bit proud of that, shameless gloat. Did it with everyone surviving too, except the chirurg guy, he killed 2 people. Not saying it was easy btw, just managable, plus I got really lucky with some quirks and trinkets
>>720351131Thats not the thing from the stars>oh you got no armour piercing? FUCK YOUwhat a dogshit boss
>>720356202>collecting the collector:O
>>720367548it's not about being "as difficult as possible", it's about having a well designed difficultystygian makes it so all your decisions matter, you can't just fix everything later by grinding
>>720367398thats not an inherently bad thingstygian sucks for a first playthrougha fundamental coolness and important life lesson in Darkest is dealing with loss. You have that large setback that initially feels horrible and huge, but then you face it, and shortly after you realise it wasnt that big of a deal and you get surprised with how quickly you got over it. Sometimes you are in a shitty spot where you cant even think of a run or character selection that actually feels appealing or productive to you, but what really matters is that you do something and progress a bit no matter what. You dont have this with stygian, only the inverseIf i didnt have this with Darkest Dungeon, i unironically probably wouldnt have gotten rich.
this fuckin guy right here
>>720351131I haven't finished a playthrough of this game. I'll get back into the playthrough I was halfway into a year ago when I finish what I'm currently playing.
Is it worth it to buy the entire thing again on steam for the mods if I already own it on gog?
>>720368429>stygian sucks for a first playthroughif you are okay with playing the game with the potential that you might actually lose it then it's very funalso I think this life lesson applies to the game regardless. Even if you end up losing the whole game, it's designed in a way that really makes you want to try again sometimes later but with the knowledge you have accumulated in your previous run.the thing is, way too many people just don't finish this game and from a personal experience I know I originally got burned out during midgame when the game was pretty much encouraging me to do endless safe and boring antiquarian runs to max out everything. If there is a limit on max weeks instead of there being unlimited runs then that makes every run special and something you always need to be as efficient as possible and take some risks with.
>>720368970only if you want to support the devs and gaben's yacht armadathe game is super easy to mod manually, you really don't need steam for it
>>720369290Yeah the problem is most mods aren't compatible with the gog version. They're all made for the latest one with the butchers circus, but as gog never got that their version is, and will forever be, perpetually behind.
>>720366663>here he is, the (in)famous 4Chan contrarian in the wild and in his feeding and shitpost habitat
>>720366859
>>720351447>occ / abo / abo / jeswas supposed to be a one-off sacrifice run for apprentice loot, using the worst the wagon had to offer, but those motherfuckers turned into an actual EZ mode build that steamrolled everything up until long champion runs...wait what the fuck they've removed his ability that put -ACC on enemies? That basically neutered apprentice/veteran enemies
>>720369956>in the wildBullshit. Purebred 4chan contrarians can only survive in captivity due to only being able to digest tendies.
>>720370678res hooknose are infamous for removing any strategy players actually have fun using to keep their game le hard (it still isn't)
>>720370834gave me a chuckle, Anon
>>720363470>getting party wiped by Necromanceris this guy for real
>>720368970Isn't it like <3 bucks on a sale these days...?
>>720368694always have at least 1 +res bleed trinket on every character because of this fucker
>>720372539Trinkets in the first game are so fucking boring lolAnother thing DD2 is better at
2 shieldbreakers are so much fun to play
>>720351769>Bounty Hunter only hireable if you come across him in a runNah, fuck DD2.
>>720367392You're not my ancestor!
>>720351447I love this lil nigga like you wouldn't believe
>>720351131ayo he doin the elon thing
>>720372434Only the base game, yeah
>>720362860This mod would be amazing if it wasn't for the embarrassing tone-destroying gooner slop.
I play this game for the coom mod
>>720351721I think one of the devs confimed that there will not be any new characters cuz of the impossibility of new heroes narrated backstories by the reason of Wayne's Junes death
>>720377871>cuz of the impossibility of new heroes narrated backstories by the reason of Wayne's Junes deathSo hire a new voice actor. If they're so afraid of people comparing him to Wayne, make the new voice actor and old grandma voice instead, like in Dark Souls games.
>>720356202It may be petty, but after hearing what they did to my beloved bounty hunter in the sequel, i never got the urge to pick it up.
>>720378326I also think they should do this, like hire the black reliquary narrator to narrate the lore of an desert themed character or sth like that but unfortunally this won't be the case from what seems
>>720375028nah bh not being available from the start and crusader DLC might be the worst changes in the game, absolute travestyI like DD2 but whenever I see this shit at the Inn I wonder why would they do this
