>>720380902Pokemon Diamond/Pearl
>>720380936fuck off nigger
>>720380902Meteos is the tightest shit ever, and if you love Sakurai's approach to designing games with tons of features and options and replayability you won't be let down. Goes right alongside Kirby Air Ride and Kid Icarus Uprising in that regard.
mushroom men
>FP turn based dungeon crawler>Created by THEE John Carmack and his wife as a spiritual successor of DOOM rpg>Controls well when emulated on a phoneIt's pretty good

Feel the Magic: XY/XXThe Rub Rabbits
Golden suns not exactly hidden but not that many have played the ds game, that and radiant historia
>>720380936ngl even tho this post is a joke, seriously diving into an old Pokemon games postgame, breeding, battle frontier, social features and other side things can be kind of overlooked. Sometimes a novel experience is hiding in plain sight; felt that way when I started diving hardcore into Pokemon Emerald and finding all sorts of fucked up shit I could do with very obscure features, but this ain't the thread for that.
>>720382998The DS game is really bland. I'm a dye-hard Golden Sun fan and even I can't stomache it.
Not a hidden gem but 4 Swords was re-released on the DSi with a single player version of the game.
Imagine: Master Chef
>>720383006Diamond and pearls underground is basically its own game. You need a lot of friends to play it with which is probably hard now but was easy at the time. Idk if the remake ever matched the experience.
>>720383801>30yo million sellerf ranchise>hiddenthe asbolute state of geimu community
>>720383006I can agree with that. Gen 3 in particular has a ton of hidden shit the average player wouldn't see, like how battle tower has an apprentice NPC who is a fan of yours. You basically choose their team for them through a serious of questions and eventually end up battling them there.
>>720380902developed by HAL Laboratory
>>720383801Was about to post this, if you liked the DS Zelda games(which admittedly not everyone did) you'll like this>>720384152Big franchise but nobody played this game
>>720384152No one even knows this game exists. Momiji is more well known than the game itself.
>>720380902Soma Bringer is good. Avalon Code too.
>>720380902flower, sun and rainninja gaiden dragon swordcontacttrauma center under the knife
>>720385768would also recommend rhythm heaven but no idea if that's considered hidden gem territory
i never hear shit about sonic rush
>>720380902
>>720380902Knights in the NightmareIzuna 1/2Bangai-O Spirits
Man this library really sucked. All blue ocean shovelware, licensed kids games, or basic ass nintendo games that don't do anything interesting.
Can't get much more hidden than a game that wasn't officially released.
>>7203809022007 Transformers DS. especially the Deceptions version. It's genuinely the best Transformers game after the WFC and FOC
>>720385970This looks like a hentai game.
>>720387773It's worse. You play as a NERV Officer whose job is to raise either Rei or Asuka (whichever you pick) from childhood. There are apparently a few endings depending on how you do. I'd be willing to bet money that in one of the endings you get married
I don't think they ever went back to this formula, which is a damn shame. IIRC there was a hidden level/world that you needed to connect to the Wii version for.
>>720388241So literally just Princess Maker?
>>720388826idk i don't play these kinda games
Lock's Quest is somewhat ok but I never hear people talking about it.
>>720381945this game seemed really fun but everything about it but the core gameplay turned me off so hard that i never touched it again after 30 minutes
Theresia's a cool horror point-and-click.
are there any ds games with pixel art style similar to pokemon?
>>720380902genuinely one of the better "downgrade ports" on the system, to the point that i'd argue it's better than mkds in some ways (even beyond just how impressive it is)>a couple of reworked stages but otherwise all non-dlc content is present and accounted for>extensive single-player with missions and stuff, doesn't have mkds's bosses but still some really novel concepts >pretty much all music present but remade for the ds and has that really distinctive crunch to it>drifting still has that weighted quality to it like outrun 2006 which just feels greati'll admit part of it is nostalgia for me (first game i ever actually owned, we were pretty poor) but still genuinely impressive imo not to mention fun, worth a look at least even just as a curiosity(also it's kind of just fun to see all the characters in a really low poly form imo)
>>720384626this shit rules, easily my favorite way to picross
>>720388241why can't they just make an actual NGE game instead of otaku slop?
>play an nds game i've never played before>immediately feel like i got teleported back to 20 years agothere's just something magical about the library of nds. all the design trends, screen resolution, even the sound chip feels oddly distinct. I also love how you can tell when a nds game came out judging by how they utilize the touch screen (later games use it purely for menu or smaller gameplay elements) and the mic (later games almost completely drop it)
>makes perfect use of the dual screencheerio
>>720390180Because NGE is otaku slop lolAnd there's actual NGE games. They just aren't translated and never will.
>>720386916What does that mean?
>>720380902Spectrobes. Ngl I just liked brushing off minerals
I wish they did more with the idea
Metroid prime pinball.
thoughts on picrel? i remember having fun.
>>720390227it's really something special, almost like you can see the evolution as time goes on - but also, there's this unique feel to the graphics a lot of the time that i don't think anything else really captures, especially 3d games with the heavy pixelisation and the really low-poly modelshonestly it's a huge shame that more of the dsiware stuff wasn't archived, that always felt like an underappreciated element of the library - the art style games especially have been a real treat to dive intoit's kinda sad to think we'll never get something similar given what happened to skip but these games (and some on the late gba & wiiware) were so novel and like just pure fun at times - picrel's been really fun to fuck around with
I really liked it but never hear people talk about it
Civilization revolution is a top ten game on the system. Scurge hive is a better Metroid game than hunters.
>>720382679This was oddly comfy and better than the sum of its parts
>>720391173Looks like a vita game probably launched to the wrong audience.
>>720390353You mean like you play in a robot like armored core or some turn based rpg nonsense?
GTA Chinatown Wars was surprisingly fun
>>720391485There’s a real time one for the 64 that sucks balls and there’s the PS2 one where the focus is playing as the humans and the EVAs get something you could call turn-based but is pretty much a glorified QTE
>>720392012Several SRW games feature Evangelion but those are SRPGs which I doubt you have the patience for if turn-based RPGs irk you.
Any japan exclusive games worth playing?
>>720392305srw was what I was thinking of at first which is just like, I wouldn't consider that "real" you don't feel like you're playing the thing its like you're looking at a sprite and the game says it does something. You could just replace it with a whole other sprite and no one would notice.
>>720381619Based, possibly my favorite 3DS game.
>>720391175>Scurge hiveI'll check it out. I actually like hunters story mode. Its definitely light on content. And not as well designed for interesting exploration but people act like its a skip when its not.
>>720381619Came here to post this. Almost as good as Tetris to me. I NEED a sequel or a remake at the very least.
>>720380902Is hotel dusk a hidden gem? Maybe okaeri chibi robo
>>720395142Hotel Dusk is not a hidden gem. However...
>>720380902Best game in the series too.
>>720383801I played the demo from the Nintendo Channel.
>>720389823There wasn't much to it aside from the core gameplay, you kinda just walked from battle to battle?
>>720392594Weeb Smash Bros.!
>>720395594Thought this was gonna be blazyblue super melee brothers battle royale but I think thats a 3ds game
>>720380902Best platformers ever. But /v/ isn't ready to acknowledge the truth.
>>720381619Am I wrong about this or does sora ltd outright own this? If so I'd say its a tough chance since sakurai was apparently miffed by how kirby was portrayed in the future and wasn't to impressed with his smash replacement.
>>720394536https://store.steampowered.com/app/3118050/Meteorder/It still has a demo, found it last next-fest. Might be alright.
>>720395409I thought this was pretty overrated, even for a hidden gem. the story, graphics, and world were 10/10 but combat was just a bore. I know it's not an rpg you play for the combat but I wish there was a little more going on
Kino
>>720397279looks exactly like rhythm boxing
>>720391173Both of the Luminous Arc games were great. It's a shame we only got the first 2 in the west. The same team also made Stella Glow on 3DS, which I'm playing through now and enjoying a lot.>>720391396The 4th game in the series launched on the Vita instead of the 3DS, so you may be on the right track.
>>720397752Soulless
>>720391842This is the only GTA I played start to finish. Wish they'd make another isometric GTA.
>>720397036Isn't she in some indie game crossover?
>>720384170My fucked up shit was forming a pickup squad of level high level Linoones and Meowths and hoarding almost 999 rare candies. I'd just chill with the game on hardware whenever I was bored and eventually got there. Every battle you complete has a 1/100 chance to trigger a daily event, and as a result I was getting them a ton. The vitamins going half-off in Slateport meant I'd max out on money from Pay Day from Meowth while hoarding pickup items, then be able to dump it all on vitamins. Items sell at half-off anyways so I ended up making an insanely fucked up bank as a result. Been breeding mons for the battle frontier and said vitamins have been super useful too. Lot of crazy shit you can come up with and it's very fun and rewarding, though I can only recommend it on a handheld so you can vibe with it. Doing this shit on PC sounds like a really empty feeling grind.
actual hidden gem, if you like boxing and using the touching screen, it's really fun
man japan has a lot of robot games
>>720390227One reason might be that most DS classics stayed on the DS, and the ones that didn't were completely changed to the point where the port may as well be a new game. At this point, a large chunk of classic games on most other older consoles have been rereleased or remade in some way. The DS is like a time capsule.
>>720390960if you are an adult this will destroy your wrist
I really need to replay it
>>720382679i had no idea this was on ds
>>720401687Improved graphics and an added level for the port
Is another code worth playing or is it one of those games that NO ONE would give a fuck about if it wasn't mainline nintendo?
>>720383098It's no worse than the GBA games, you were just a bit older when you played the DS version.
>>720380902There are no hidden gems. The DS has an awful library full of adventure rubbish and puzzle games.Any action game on the thing is ruined by stylus controls.
>>720390608What does what mean? Gauntlet DS was finished but never actually released until the rom leaked.
>>720397767I think that applies to JRPGs in general, and most of the RPG genre. I'd rather combat that's too easy then combat that's a chore to get through.
>>720390352Was gonna post this. Developers had such creative ideas of how to utilise both screens sucks that Nintendo gave up on the idea of two screens.Hotel Dusk is another amazing use of both screens but some of the quirks annoying to run on an emulator.
>>720380902that japanese advertisement game about mushroom guys that can split into smaller mushrooms i forgot the name
>>720395409don't bother unless you're a furry
>>720400457Yes, in Blade Strangers, I think is what you mean. Kawase also appeared as a playable character in a Cotton game.
>>720397036>>720403076
>>720402187No, I played all of them very recently. The DS one is extremely dull and boring to play.
>>720403045If you like Sky Islands or steampunk aesthetics it still may be worth a look. Has some of the best art direction for levels I've seen in a game. You'd probably also like it if you enjoyed .Hack, since it shares a lot of elements due to being a game in the same genre from the same developer.Being a furry certainly does improve the experience though.
>>720397036Based. UK is awesome up through Sayonara. Wish they'd make another traditional one.
>>720403076yea I knew she looked familiar
>>720402827Mushroom men or spore creatures?
>>720402267Agreed. Only good games are nsmb and kirby. This shit sucks. Just like the wii although that has at least 10 good games.
>>720380936This can be said about any original release of a Pokemon generation. When you think of Mossdeep Gym, is it from RS or E?Then consider an entire game's worth of small changes.
>>720407609GS vs C
>>720402827Based
>>720408226>mario >this shit>maple storythe fucks the deal with mushrooms? they're not that common or interesting
The general polish wasn’t quite there and you had to be an annoyingly high distance over a platform in order to land on it, but this game is the only Contra game I know of that has the openness that the first one has. I love Contra 3 and Hard Corp but the presentation is way more squeezed in compared to the first one. Contra 4 uses the top screen to open up the area and the grapple system is cool. It’s a shame that co op requires each DS to have a copy of the game.
>>720409469>they're not that common or interestingYou don't know their true power then. May your ignorance be your bliss.
>>720395482Me too, I feel like a lot was lost to time with that

>>720380902One of the best RPG's of all time and no one played it
>>720401632Get it on Switch so you can finally play the 3rd game in English
>>720380902there was a game that was kinda like space invaders but you would fling the projectile from the bottom screen to the top. it was kind of fun.also the COD games were not awful when I was like 7....Mario vs DK and Yoshi's Island DS were my first games and I loved them. My machine eventually just became a Mario 64 machine though, and occasionally replaying my fast collection of GBA games. Oh there is a game I want to try it's by the people who made stella glow (strategy RPG/light harem game) that had a similar series on the DS.
>>720381945I used to go to the download play station and keep that game on my 3ds for days
>>720422258mario vs donkey kong was a gba game
>>720422258>there was a game that was kinda like space invaders but you would fling the projectile from the bottom screen to the top. it was kind of fun.Are you talking about Big Bang Mini? I remember playing the versus of that a bit back in the day
>>720391173Luminous Arc was quite popular here but the sequels were less well-known and then Stella Glow overshadowed all discussion.
Cool tower defense/arpg style game with a surprisingly decent story
>>720388337Best game on the DS.
ds had so many fucking weird but comfy games
>>720380902DK Jungle Climber
>>720421346can you play this without the touchscreen? mine is kinda fucked
obviously pokemon is literally the most mainstream game ever, but no one ever talks about this spinoffIt was really fun and unique
>>720429602I hate the fact that most of those games cause your digitzer to die within 50h lol. Well mine still works, but its uncomfy
Infinite Space (it's better than any jrpg on the 3DS besides etrians and soul hackers/SMT4)
>>720429602scratched my ds to shit because of this game FUCK this game
>>720417038What makes it so hard to remember?

>>720433445Android, of course. It's nice to have a battery that lasts over 2 hours. >>720433482DON'T LOOK AT THE PICTURE
>>720433760The 3DS bugs me too. I like the original DS and the DSi.
>>720434097Well, Thor has a leg up over 3DS in terms of the screen. Black pillars with a black case would be invisible on OLED.
>>720434243I'd still see the reflection on the glass and the lack of a bezel and know they're there.
>>720434316That's ok, you're not their target audience anyway.
>>720434348Who is the target audience?
>>720413873you are in the wrong thread
>>720384730I don't like the ds zelda games but I like dragon swordI really don't see the connection>>720380902Anyway ketsui, retro game challenge 2, Ozuna, phantast star 0, henry hatsworth, dark spire, Megaman ZX advent, Chrono twins, from the abyss
>>720434535Me and other people who aren't triggered by such horrors like different sized screens.
>>720433385Does the screen have the stereo effect?I doubt they bothered.Man, that was one of the actually cool gimmicks.Too bad they dropped it.
>>720434097I always liked the 3D. Especially senran kagura.
>>720435326>ketsuihuh? thats on here? never seen it before
>>720435646No, it doesn't, for sure. Even Nintendo dropped it with n2dsxl, I guess it was way too difficult and pricy to keep it around for 3 people who enjoyed it.
>>720433760If it has a stylus I may get it.
>>720435785It's a weird boss rush remix of the original. Worth checking out but very different to the arcade game.
I have New 3DS XL, but it's just not the same.
>>720390352Man I emulated this a few months ago and the later stages were insanely hard, I had no idea how anyone beat it back then
This studio made some pretty decent racing games on the platform>Race Driver: Create & Race and GRID>Ferrari Challenge: Trofeo Pirelli >DIRT 2 (though it's impossible to complete)>TrackMania DS and Turbo>Need for Speed: Undercover and Nitro>Hot Wheels: Track Attack >Cars 2
>>720391842Best version of the game>>720395401The plot in this game was realy stupid
>>720412146>>720412309I was gonna mention that game, it was originally supposed to be a Silent hIll game but the idea got rejectedThey also made a sequel which was even betterThe same studio also did a game called Moon which was a decent sci-fi FPS but it got quite repetitive
>>720437803lol you reminded me i played cod games in the ds.
This game was really bizarre like all the other handheld versions of Sims 2, it's more of a hotel management game than a life sim thoughAlso if you decide to play it I recommend changing the date on system or an emulator because the game uses a real clock and some parts can get tediousDo not try to go back in time though
I played and pirated sooo many fucking DS games godis DS emulation even good or do I have to go out and get a DS
There were 9 Spider-Man games on the DS and most of them sucked, but this and Web of Shadows were pretty fun Metroidvanias
>>720438018A phone is a decent option for touch screen based games, there have also been a few dual screen emulation handhelds released lately
>>720438086I heard that Alien game was a fun metroidvania too.
This was a nice spin off with turn based combat similar to Advance Wars, they also made a sequel based on Age of Mythology
>>720422096third game already had an unofficial english patch on the 3ds
>>720438262Is this actually good? It got pretty poor reviews at the time
>>720438194was that the game were you couldnt put in a 3 letter name because it would break the game?
>>720437950The same studio, nSpace also made DS versions of multiple James Bond games, I enjoyed the Blood Stone one the mosthttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_KaZge1PQU
>>720438391Yes, they shipped that warning with the later copies.
>>720436752You can use any $1 stylus with it. Not included, and no hole to stick it into tho.

>>720401621Only if you're weak as shit. Real guitar hurts wrists more.
>>720438950This was already mentioned, are there any other decent horror games on the DS besides the Resident Evil port?I know about Nanashi no Game which only cameout in Japan
>>720439103Meteos at least got ported to phones
>>720439840another L for tendies
>>720433385Will this end up being cheaper than a 3DS? And how is 3DS emulation in this day and age? I've been wanting to get one for a long time but they're way too fucking expensive.
>>720440338It's 250 for a base version (black, 8G RAM, SD865), which is more than enough to run DS & 3DS games. >how's emulationIt's alright, not 100%, but good enough. You can check the compatibility list in their repo https://github.com/azahar-emu/compatibility-list?tab=readme-ov-file
May as well ask for some underrated 3DS games since this platform is obviously ass.
Feel the magic/rub rabbits
>>720440660Ghost Recon Shadow Wars
Hotel dusk is already a hidden gem, but even many of those that played hotel dusk didn't even know about last window.I consider that 95% of writing in videogames suck balls, but not this one, this feels like one of the few stories out there without shitty writing.
>>720439659>Nanashi no Gamethat was the only one I was going to suggest unfortunately damn can't believe you knew that one
>>720441138>good writingHow would you compare it to 999? That's the only thing I need to know.
>>720441273Dunno because I've never played 999. But I really really likes hotel dusk and last window, it really feels like it can compare to a book or novel, unlike all of these anime visual novels or games that get constantly praised by 17 years old and you can see they have never ever read a book in their entire lives.I really like hotel dusk, top 10 games for me, the fact that they want bankrupt while when get a 47th game of a shit saga shows this world is corrupt.
>>720441380What are your favorite novels (regular, text ones)? Will help me to put it in the perspective since you never played 999.

>>720441138Shame that sequel didn't come out in North AmericaIs there a chane of remake or re-release ike with Another Code?
>>720442268>>find a rare monNo such thing. All the monsters re-appear in the same locations, there's no random chance in finding a "rare" pokemon or not.I think you didn't play the game.
I rarely see this one mentioned among the best racing games on the DS, it's really fun and chaotic game with lots of crashes, what Burnout on the DS should have beenhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3VI5m-bPRM
>>720380902Not necessarily hidden, but Tony Hawk's American sk8land and Proving Ground are way better than they had any right being. Definitely not discussed as much as the rest of the series and overshadowed by the hot garbage it became
>>720442667I heard the GBA and DS games by Vicarious Visions were pretty goodhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tnwuKuyJLgAlso remember the DS motion pack and the shitty Tony Hawk game that required you to use it?
>>720441138Have you played their other DS game? It uses weird photographs instead of the anime art
