Depends on how samey the enemies are, I suppose. If each enemy has completely different movesets and a lot of them have unique strategies to beat, then the former. Otherwise, the latter.

Larger enemy variety helps a lot with difficulty scaling and keeping things fresh. Also adds more to the in-game lore which is a plus
