It's starting to feel like the game is overstaying it's welcome to be honest. I just got to the Lace 2 fight. I guess it's supposed to be awesome because it's a fight on white flowers like MGS3 and Bloodborne. It's just meh. Took a break. I mean another boss that I'll beat? Eh, I was like you at first, I hated how different everything felt buuuuut...After getting to Act 2, I realized there is actually a lot of broken things Hornet has access to that allows her to outshine the knight's gameplay at lower HP. Having multiple playstyles with crests also changes up how you can approach things. I think my actual issue with game is:
1. Act 1 limits you from getting anything good besides fractured mask. It feels hard because in Act 1, you get too little things. But in Act 2, you get too many things. It's bad game progression I guess.
2. Some of the crests are really good but others just plain suck and give you no reason to use them. Beast crest for example just feels like a worse hunter.

No matter what hornet gets she's still going to be inferior to knight. Wanderer is a nerfed knight moveset and it's one of the best movesets available to her. I haven't played it but my main concern is the overusage of animation without individual frames drawn out or visual effects that clash with the artstyle. Like the hair on the Radiance equivalent or the fire effects.

Funny, Act 1 felt tedious and boring for the most part. Now that I hit Act 2, it feels like I can finally go toe-to-toe with most bosses (who are more interesting overall, Clockwork Dancers was fucking sick), I can actually get some of the more critical mobility skills, rosaries have become way more abundant, the environments are more colorful/intricate in how you navigate them, the story got more fleshed out instead of vague lore, and I genuinely feel like I'm coming across some new big secret every few minutes.

Act 1 I was just kinda peddling along, enjoying bits and pieces here, but otherwise kinda waiting for things to pick up. Once you get out of the Underworks, the game explodes with interesting shit to do and stuff you can now go back to. Maybe Act 3 shits the bed or something, but so far Act 2 feels like what I was actually looking for. Not sure why they gated so much behind the Last Judge, but I'm having fun now at least.

I have literally never seen anyone with this opinion. Everything I have seen from anyone, anywhere, seems to be people being happy that they finally got to Act 2 because that's when it feels like the real game begins.

Wanderer pogo with the reach charm is much better than the slow-ass reaper pogo. I had no issue doing platforming or the lava escape and it's much more agile in bossfights.

Act 1 honestly feels like the dlc that could have been in the original Hollowknight. Act II is where it feels devs started making it an actual game. I've hit the first fight that has made me actually give up. Fought it for an hour and I can't do it. It's the gauntlet of void infected deep docks enemies just before the (trivially easy) boss fight against Signis and Gron. It's the most insane difficulty spike I've ever seen in a video game. They're massively tanky, the room is tiny and has void attacks and the bombs from the flying enemies constant exploding everywhere, and you can't even heal if you get tagged because they drain your silk. Nothing else has taken me more than a few tries, and I've always felt like I was getting closer, but I can't even consistently reach the second wave here.

Act 3 is exactly Dragon's Dogma. Nobody remembers this, but when you open the Everfall, the entire world gets fucked up and filled with suped-up monster variants. And it sucks, nobody bothers with that, they just go to the new area. Act 3 is that but it forces you to go re-explore the world and it's just not that great.
