Played a little bit of NGB before the emulator crashed. Seemed alright but I was having a hard time knowing what all my button presses between X and Y were flowing into each other for certain moves or why sometimes when I held down Y it would charge instantly and other times not. Is it something you just get a better blow for as time goes on?
Also, should I be dodging or blocking more?

I played dark souls before I ever touched ninja Gaiden but I have to say NG is quite good. Playing through the level is more fun I'd say but each chapter is capped by an utterly shitty boss more often than not. Souls is the opposite where stages are inly interesting if they have hazards that make the simplistic combat more challenging and then it's capped by a spectacular boss fight that is carefully curated by From.
