I’m convinced this game was meant to have way more story in it and Konami basically forced him to release it like halfway or a quarter before it was actually finished. The truth tapes feel like they were meant to come after way more story had developed.

Yeah: Chico going full ninja, Eli threatening to commit 9/11 or something (wtf???), and David showing up as the final boss to kill Venom in Outer Heaven, explaining Big Boss’s whole motive in the ’87 game… etc etc. Not to mention the whole Demon Snake hidden mechanic that didn’t amount to anything. The game was clearly insanely ambitious, and we only got a tiny fraction of what was planned.
