Technically the first 2 or so years are roadmapped, so we got a little taste of the Iwata touch during the initial Switch years, but after that the meanfingul transition started. Unfortunately we have the asian equivalent of Tim Cook running Nintendo and a literal EA employee in place for Reggie Fils-Aime and now we're seeing the fruits of that. There WILL be a Switch 3, it WILL be the Switch 2 again but slightly more powerful with maybe some grips being the big innovation there, and millions WILL buy it along with $90+ games or whatever.

It's strange because I hated the Iwata era when it was happening. It felt like they abandoned the core audience from N64 and GameCube to focus on the "blue ocean" strategy and make dumbed-down waggle games for soccer moms. Nothing on the Wii, Wii U, or DS had the gameplay depth of games like F-Zero X and GX, Melee, the N64 Zeldas, Mario 64 and Sunshine with their movement tech, etc. Everything felt extremely watered down and sanitized. That's also when the NSMB series started and the Mario spinoff games had all the soul sucked out of them, especially the RPGs. I like that Iwata cared much more about fun and game design, but the games themselves kind of sucked compared to their prior titles.
