Between RE7, Outlast, and Amnesia the Dark Descent, which is the best?
>>
>>720521389
RE7 hands down. Games where you can't fight back fucking suck and are never fun.
>>
amnesia is the best
outlast is kino
re7 is just re
>>
Amnesia
>>
>>720521468
>>
>>720521468
But re is good
>>
>>720521389
after recently replaying re7, ethan's constant idiot commentary grated on me, he was genuinely fucking annoying in his reactions to everything. would have been a lot better if he was just silent
>>
>>720521389
RE7 by far
>>
>>720521462
fpbp
>>
>>720521462
but games where you can are never scary, ever, not truly. there is no fear in me whatsoever when i know the thing in front of me is about to explode with a shotgun blast. what is there to even be scared of when i'm armed to the teeth?
>>
>>720521832
would you rather a fun and engaging game, or a game that's only actually "scary" for about 1/4 of the whole game?
>>
>>720521389
RE7 is easily the best. I even enjoyed the last 1/4 of the game that everyone shits on. Pacing is great, feels like it was made with love for the horror genre in general. 9/10

Amnesia gets points for originality though
>>
>>720521389
Outlast, played all of them
>>
>>720521389
Re7>Amnesia>Outlast
>>
>>720521912
but the point of re7, what it was trying to be, was to be scary, and it wasn't, at all. felt more like any generic action game, a fun one, yeah, but it literally failed to be scary on any level. i'd call it a failure on that regard and there's a lot better action games than that one
>>
>>720521981
Why is outlast last?
>>
>>720522042
cause outlast is a walking sim, really. the only action you're capable of doing is walking forwards and seeing the setpieces
>>
>>720522026
I agree to some extent, but it definitely was scary in some parts, especially during the beginning. So it makes a decent balance of horror and action.
>>
They all do things good but Amnesia for me
>>
Between RE7, Outlast, and Amnesia the Dark Descent, which is the scariest?
>>
>>720521832
You know there's a middle ground between being "armed to the teeth" and having zero ability to fight?

Condemned does this perfectly.
>>
Amnesia is an actual game, with a physics engine, stealth mechanics, a unique sanity/darkness management system, actual puzzles, voice acting, story. It's like a spooky adventure game. Outlast is literally just a digital haunted house attraction. It has the depth of a rollercoaster
>>
i think the Bunker is the best amnesia game and it's not even close
>>
I’m about to play RE7 for the first time. What difficulty level should I go?

>>720522092
That’s a good point. Kinda felt like moving through a really good version of one of those Halloween nights at a theme park.
>>
>>720521389
Amnesia hands down the best, no competition
>>
>>720522464
do the hardest difficulty, normal is very easy, the game is generous with ammo on it
>>
>>720522464
whatever the hardest default is....normal I think?
Save "madhouse" for a 2nd playthrough
>>
>>720521389
Amnesia the Dark Descent,
>>
>>720522464
Start with the highest default difficulty. Most of the REs lock you out of the actual "hard" difficulty until you beat the game to prevent players from getting frustrated due to item scarcity and enemies being a lot harder to kill.
>>
>>720522201
Amnesia
>>
>>720523297
there were a lot of times in amnesia when playing it the first time that i knew i was "safe" ie there was nothing that could harm me and i could wander around as i wanted, i felt that a lot less in outlast when every area had at least some random patients who *could* be dangerous
>>
Amnesia originally was going to have the ability to kill monsters like in Penumbra but the devs realized the players would just kill the monsters every time then move to the next puzzle.
>>
Amnesia Bunker is the best Amnesia game because it has the most involved gameplay but out of the three presented RE7
>>
Alien: Isolation, bro
>>
>>720523496
>spend a lot of the game just being harassed by synths
it was more annoying than scary
>>
>>720521389
RE7 > Dark Descent >>>>>>> Outlast
>>
Is amnesia the bunker better than the dark descent?
>>
>>720521389
Amnesia is the spookiest by far
>>
>>720523716
yes, in basically every way. it's a significantly more dynamic game with one of the best monster ai's ever put in a horror game. it takes away the stupid ass sanity mechanic in favor of having many types of "keys" for various locks and blocks scattered over the bunker. all the items have a value to themselves but you also never have enough to feel perfectly secure. it's one of my favorite games in general honestly
>>
RE7 is too scary
>>
>>720523716
Way better. It's one of the greatest survival horror games of all time.
>>
RE7 > Outlast > Amnesia Dark Descent
>>
>>720525229
deranged final sequence though, what the hell were they on with the bridge boss fight
>>
>>720525285
how the fuck is oulast better than TDD?
>>
>>720526230
it's better
>>
>>720526230
it's more consistent of an experience, there's a lot of carrying items back and forth in TDD for kind of pointless puzzles
>>
>>720525559
I liked it
>>
>>720526389
it was just tonally odd is all, everything in the bunker then that
>>
>>720522026
>but the point of re7, what it was trying to be, was to be scary, and it wasn't, at all
RE7 PSVR was the first time I've been legitimately scared of a game since I was 10
