*mogs your OLED display*
>>720552604>Reddit filename
Looks like absolute garbage? lmaoMy OLED can do 4k 120fps at 55 inch.
Not at 480i
CRTs eat shit whenever it comes to displaying small things, most small fonts are unrecognizable on a CRT. They got fazed out for a reason.
i did a test between my crt and oled for resident evil 4 and the oled looked so much better
>>720552604
>>720553196how did gran turismo 1 do it then?
>>720552604Sur cope with your shit tv from the 90s kek 3rd worlders..
>>72055260499.9999 percent of CRTs and monitors look like shit. When most people talk about CRT they mean those extremely high end ones like the Sony BVM-D20F1U or ViewSonic A90 / A90F+
>>720558487Most CRT monitors look good, the ones that look bad is just because they'e been used to hell and back. The TVs are a bit different, all of the late CRTs, especially the ones like Trinitrons are pretty close to PVMs on terms of image quality, it's just that with CRT tvs bigger is better when it comes to the image.
>>720553196I remember trying to play Red Dead Redemption on my PS3 via my old 32" Panasonic widescreen HD CRT TV (1080i max resolution) but even then I couldn't read the small text in the game.
>>720553196That wasn't an issue until HD became a thing, everyone on this board really noticed it when Dead Rising came out.
>>720552604What is this?
>Use a CRT for a few hours on the weekend>Electricity bill goes up by at least $100
>>720552604>those 500:1 "blacks" while somehow being worse than OLED in terms of brightnesstop lel, even IPS mogs this trash
>>720558940I do love how efficient my OLED laptop is in dark mode. 25 hour battery life. I remember those old active matrix LCDS used to absolutely murder batteries. You would get like 3 hours if you're lucky on a high end laptop
CRTs are on borrowed time
>>720559186Wow, you don't say, got any other amazing insights?
oh no! anyway..........
1000hz OLEDs will match CRT motion in a couple of years. Then the holy grail micro led will come in another 10 years. Its a shame SED never took off and plasma died.
>>720552604>>720559290Why can't CRT boomers move on with their life? Why did they attach to old TVs so hard?
>>720558940I don't think CRTs cost that much to use
>>720559417Light gun games
>>720553196True. I remember playing GTA4 and not being able to read shit.
>>720559290A big tree on the left is missing when it shouldn't be, you messed with the settings to make it look worse than it actually is.
>tfw I have a C5 and a Trinitron Feels good not being like the rest of you, I can enjoy and appreciate both.
>>720552604Looks like shit
>>720552604people who care about monitors will tie themselves into knots trying to find the best response times, color accuracy, brightness, black and grey uniformity, text fringing, and local dimming meanwhile CRT guys look at this and cum in their pants
>>720553041>starting with agp
>>720552604>Bu hiding most of the image behind scanlinesDumbfuck.
>>720559290Keep in mind that this resulted in millions of pounds of hazardous e-waste and billions/trillions of lost dollars. People had to rebuy their TVs, then rebuy again once 4K came out, then they had to rebuy all their video games again for the "remaster". And for what? The pixels look a little bit better? Was it REALLY worth it? A photo doesn't even make a CRT look good. Side by side, both of those displays will look similar despite the one on the left having half the resolution. We're headed towards terminal decline anyway so it's not like it matters, but I wish we realized this before things got out of hand.
>>720562125>And for what? The pixels look a little bit better? Was it REALLY worth it? For San Andreas not really but the only people who say this for modern content are people who never had a CRT.
>>720553196>They got fazed out for a reason.Yes, to sell you lower quality products at a higher price
>>720562125it was pretty fucked up how the government forced everyone to throw away their crts and then buy every new generation of tv
>>720562504Modern content was obviously made for modern displays. Although, there's not much modern content being made these days since it's all remasters and remakes. Once you exclude the remakes there's very little to play on your modern display. Might as well make a CRT your main one for 90% of games and a smaller HD one for the two or so HD games from the past decade that are actually worth playing.
>>720563184it's truly remarkable just how detached from reality crt retards are
>>720558923Yeah dead rising and rainbow six vegas I remember having to squint to read the text
>>720562715They did? Cause I knew a lot of old people that didn't get rid of them until the late 2010s and thats just because their kids bought them new tvs. Don't forget CRTs are from a time where a lot of appliances just worked and for the most part never stopped working, because of this a lot people never felt the need to get rid of a lot of these things, they never saw the point. That was the case for CRTs and it was like that for a long while.
>>720561692>messed with settings>on a ps2interdasting
>>720563325Source/QRD? I'm not sure how 90% of games display wrong on a CRT when they all came out before CRTs were phased out. Are you telling me that an HDTV is ideal for playing a 480i game? Good luck telling everyone on /vr/ that. Are you SURE you know what you're talking about?Or do you just want to force everyone to buy the latest remake/remaster slop so that it works on your glowing rectangle of choice?
>>720563585why would i ever visit /vr/ lmao
>>720563506Yeah I think you're lying.
>>720563921That isn't the ps2 version. You can tell by it having the completely wrong colour for the start of the game.
>>720564037So you're saying shit just magically disappears at 4:3 with the PS2 version?
>>720552604Cool resolution, bro. Nice and blurry.
>>720559290You know what, the left is PS2 the right is probably PC. It makes perfect sense now.
>>720564096It doesn't exist if you turn widescreen on either lmao
>>720564210Nah., can't POSSIBLY be the ps2 version on the left.
>>720564635the PS2 has a green power light, so, yes, that cannot be a PS2
>>720552604>flatroonlol
>>720564731You've never seen a ps2 have you? The green power light would be above (and is obscured by the other screen). The disc drive has a blue light when running.
Notice how these threads don't talk about motion anymore now that OLEDs can do that too. We now have 720hz capable OLEDs and shaders that emulate the beam refresh on sample and hold displays. Literally no reason to use a CRT anymore.
>>720565090>We now have 720hz capable OLEDsWho is we? No one has that.
>>720565090I just got a C5, how do I go about doing this?
>>720565090/v/ hates ufo man.
>>720565207ASUS PG27AQWP-W is supposed to release next month
>>720565090>720hz 4K CRT multipass shaderYeah, imagine 50% 5090 load for a single shader
>>720565090I think most people are aware that there's literally no reason to own a crt anymore
>>720565225Shaderglass has it
>>720565440nobody is dropping $1500-2000 on a computer monitor. thats 75 inch tv money.
>>720565589You CRTfags are in such a time capsule you have no idea what the price of things are
>>720565632>>720565440how much is it?
I can never tell if all this shit is bait or if there are people who legitimately just stopped existing in the real world when they were like ten years old
>>720552604Damn look at those inky grey blacks. Looks like shit.
>>720565685It's not announced yet but Anus always overprices things. The same panel will be used by others for less. Next year you'll probably find it for $500 like the MO27Q28G which might even be the same panel but without the 720hz mode.
>>720565440>720p>720hzIs this going to be the must own display for emulation?
>>720559417>boomersit's zoomies hyping CRTs up because it's exotic and retro for themI've never once felt like I wanted my old CRT TV back as soon as I got rid of it in 2009, they all looked like shityou'd go to your rich friends house as a kid and they had a crt that was a couple inches larger but the picture quality was just as shit
>>720552604>shitty LG TV>mogging anythinglmao at least get a 19+ inch PC monitor that, preferably not from a korean brandthat's the bare minimum, anything below that isn't even worth bothering with
>>720553196This isn't crt's fault it's the industry forcing you to go LCD which is inferior quality wise and the only advantage is it's le lightweight flat screen. It's progress for the worse
>>720562125I think the driving force behind the adoption of LCDs outside of the usual jewery was size and bulk, even at the time most people could tell that image quality on 2000s LCDs was much worse than a good CRT but put up with it because you could get a larger TV than CRT technology could realistically allow and just hang it on the wall. Imo the technology was simply bound to die because it was maxxed out and there was nowhere to go from there while LCD and Plasma were rapidly improving and held incredible potential.
>>720552604It's good for retro, but not too practical for everyone, I personally just prefer to use shaders.
Bro who there in 2025?
>>720567079Yep, size was all that mattered to people. That's why retards bought rear projection tvs despite looking like shit.
>>720568438I remember having to squint so hard whenever I used one at a friend's house it was so terrible. One day I even said fuck it and dragged my CRT over for a LAN party Halo session because fuck using that thing.
>>720562125Chasing higher resolutions is such a fucking meme. We didn't need any higher than 480p and 4 or 8x MSAA. Imagine how much more performant games would be if we still had CRTs and were still running everything at 480p, because on a CRT it looks as good as 1080p on an LCD (if not better).
>>720569594>Imagine how much more performant games would be if we still had CRTs and were still running everything at 480pyou can do this right now if you want to?
