I'm still so pissed this had the worst dpad ever madeIt could have been perfect
didn't they make a fixed one like 2 months before xbone came out or did i just dream that
>>720630870They fixed it with the xbox series controller
>>720630870Still using my original for KoF2002 as we speak!
Yeah same. My favorite controller to this day but I never use dpad outside of menus.
>>720630917There was this thing in 2010 but i've never seen it anywhere IRL, looks like it'd still be shit too
>>720630961It's just not the same
>>720631038Is literally the same layout
>>720631091IT'S NOT THE SAME
>>720630870It is the worst controller possible, just a Dreamcast controller with an extraneous extra stick, worse build quality and worse ergonomics. It was completely obsolete when it launched (having been soundly beaten at its primary purpose by mouse and keyboard 10 years prior) and Microsoft's insistence on Xinput retarded the whole gaming industry by 20 years.I have one lying around just because of how bad 2000s ports were getting and it is unarguably the worst official console controller released after the 2000s.
>>720631373>worse build quality and worse ergonomicsdude the dreamcast controller fucking sucked
>>720630870I bought one for my pc 10 years ago and still use it
>>720630870the 360 d-pad is over hated. It's practically identical to the genesis and saturn d-pad. I never had problems playing fighting games with it. Skill issue.
>>720630961I wish the new Xbox controller was more lightweight
>>720630870>worst dpad ever madeHold my beer.
>>720631373>>720631412Shit taste. The boat controller was kino. Hall effect joystick in 1999. The button layout for dreamcast and Xbox is also superior to playstation. The lack of a second analog stick was acceptable in the 90s. Both dreamcast and 360 controller are ergonomically superior to the tiny hands made for japan piss station controller.
Honestly I never understood people's problem with the dpad. I never missed when I wanted to press up, left, down or right and beyond vague subjective stuff about how pressing the button "felt" bad I don't even understand why people are upset.Worked for me.
>>720632901It's because microsoft/america=bad. You could put the 360 d-pad on any non american vidya controller and retards would praise it.
I made some anons suggestion for making the d-pad just tilt around, and not push down in the centre at all. You could probably put some 0.5mm plastic in that hole for the same effect.
>>720630870This but about the triggers of dualshock 3
why the fuck haven't we added more buttons on the backs? Make them optional for Devs to use, but imagine how much more we could do with more buttons? This is something that REALLY boggles the mind with VR controllers
>>720634336The greatest controller ever designed would look like a 6-button Genesis controller fused with a 360 controller, with two rear buttons.
>>720634939We're nearly there.
>>720632836>The lack of a second analog stick was acceptable in the 90sA second analog stick only adds negligible improvement to a system that should be mostly automated during regular gameplay. If you want active camera control all the time, then mouselook exists for use with MICE, not analog sticks. Dual analog has been obsolete since proper gyro implementations became a thing, since there are ironically better ways to handle flickstick than a stick.>>720634336>why the fuck haven't we added more buttons on the backs? Make them optional for Devs to use, but imagine how much more we could do with more buttons?Because we've effectively stalled out. People only want back buttons because dual analog control schemes are so bad that they absorb all of your face button inputs and we are only stuck on these dual analog controllers because of baby ducks whose first experiences with consoles were Dualshocks and 360 pads. If you want more buttons, then you want input bank style layouts that you DON'T hold in your hands like HOTAS, HOSAS, arcade sticks or Keyboards and mice.>This is something that REALLY boggles the mind with VR controllersVR controllers have effectively dead-ended because they're all proprietary, non-interoperable walled garden shit, so since every headset needs a new pair of controllers, the company just shits out a pair of Rift knockoffs and calls it a day.>>720634939>unironic face button vomit while also insisting on back buttons, a preference that only exists because incompetently designed games don't let you use face buttons during regular gameplay anymore
>>720630961SPBPthe series x controller is basically the 360 controller with everything improved, I would say it's even the perfect generic controllerhave no idea why retards going back to the 360
>>720635227The analog sticks are just too close together for my liking. They need to be lowered and separated a little. The handles need to be elongated to accommodate the palms. Last but not least, you need shoulder buttons and analog triggers. Only then will you have the perfect controller.
i never get these complaints. are you just not able to feel the groove of the dpad or something? what lack of precision are we talking about here?
>>720630870I like the octagonal clitoris on the new Xbox controllers and I'm tired of pretending otherwiseIt reminds me of the circle pad (or whatever you call it) on the Neo Geo Pocket Color, it's really satisfying in a similar way>>720631012A buddy of mine had one of these and it's only slightly better than the original 360 one
>>720635560Series x is a little too clicky for my liking and smaller than the 360. Pretty close to perfect but still off
>>720630870Once I learned to center my thumb and rock it around in the direction I wanted instead of dragging around, I was able to play fighting games fine with this thing.>>720630963based
