Mimic who was the newest recruit of their squad betrays them to save his skin in the face of eggman. Lured them out to one of his bases and locked them in a room to get shredded by Shadow Androids. Whisper wasn't with the group as she's the one outside scouting the area. All of them have a special mask that records everything they see, so she had to stand by and watch all her team mates get ripped apart and since then she's be running from Mimic/feuding with him while being a solo op that helped sonic and his friends quietly from the shadows. That's just the origin story, what happens in present day is a different story
