>>720660443Yeah. I remember getting the vidmaster achievements in 3/ODST and just being obsessed with Halo along with all my friends from the time of the beta that came with Crackdown. We had a bunch of those cheesey Reach themed pics in our fileshares before the game came out and were super hyped.Then when it came out, we realized that fileshares had the fun sucked out them and couldn't be browsed the same way any more. Tons of custom games were broken, like Hide and Seek no longer working because moving made you visible with camo and there was no setting to change that. I remember being super disappointed at how many cool armors were locked behind grinding the fuck out of the multiplayer to incentivize spending real money. I remember everyone being really upset at the Battle Rifle being missing. I remember everyone being mad about loadouts and armor abilities because it made learning maps less meaningful and made the game more like CoD instead of Halo.There were good things too, invasion chief among them and some kino campaign moments, but I was overall disappointed and Halo 4 kinda killed the series for me after that since it doubled down on a lot of that stuff.

>>720659046I love the game but I still think the 30 kilometer long cloaked ship in atmosphere was mega-retarded, even for the rule of cool style Bungie liked. Like it would've had physical effects on wind patterns and shit that any amateur meteorologist could've detected where it was. They should've had some throwaway line from Dot or from the civilians in that sniper stealth mission saying something about abnormal weather patterns to imply they had at least an inkling something was up but just chalked it up to the covenant activity as some kind of foreshadowing.

I remember the day it went live, seeing all those little speech bubbles next to everyone's gamertag, and realizing that "lobbies full of people with mics all shit talking and laughing" was going to become a thing of the past. It could still work, but required you to send chat messages to people in parties, invite people on your friends list, and just spam your whole friends list with invites to see who would join to fill a lobby.Every game is like that now.
