Change My Mind: The correct (best, least retarded, whatever) interpretation of the later games is that Big Boss was never the villain he was portrayed as in the MSX games and referred to as in MGS1. Kojima's political and artistic maturation led to him shedding the '80s Hollywood action-thriller pastiche and critiquing Western (specifically, US-as-global-hegemon) imperialism.Logically, therefore, if the MSX games were to be remade (and I would 100% play if they were) the correct throughline for Solid Snake would be to defeat Big Boss and pseudo-Big Boss (I forget which one is MG1 and which MG2) but along the way to develop serious doubts about the moral worth of his role and the organisation employing him, in fact the entire political and economic framework that organisation exists to protect.
I thought for sure that the whole hospital sequence was some kind of psyop/false flag against Venom and the player. The part where you're in the corridor and guards check the bodies, they shoot everyone but don't with you. They even flip you over and clearly see you breathing and moving for seconds before reacting which is when Volgin shows up.

So much so it serves as the pillar the series is build upon. The different interpretations of both Zero and Big Boss caused an eternal cycle of war, both fuelling into it.
