>>720668802My NES hot takes: I think MM2 is extremely overrated and people just got burnt out by the third game and dislike later games for reasons unrelated to their quality. Except MM5 which is okay at best. MM4 and MM6 are the best NES MM games. Simon's Quest is overhated due to that AVGN video but honestly the game was quite good. There were like 2 or 3 things you needed to remember because the NPC dialogue was badly translated but it's not like Zelda was playable blind either. Castlevania 3 and 4 felt like a downgrade.Lost Levels is better than SMB3 and American SMB2 is shit.The first Metroid was really good and not confusing at all. Metroid 2 on GB on the other hand was complete dogshit.

You walk into a room, spam holy water or stand still whipping like a chimp, and watch their health melt. Compared to the tight action and stage flow of 1 and the branching challenge of 3, Simon's Quest feels like wandering around in a haunted Backrooms sim. Still got a killer OST tho.
