I like this game and all but why is the 3 day cycle such a high point of praise for so many people? Atmospherically it's cool but it makes doing side quests and fully exploring a dungeon for fairies more painful than it needs to be. It would suck getting 14 out of 15 fairies then running out of time and having to do everything all over again.
>>720676421This should only happen to you once, then every other time you know to unlock the owl statue then reset and warp to the dungeon on day 1. It's ok to have a task you can fail once to teach the player something (in this case, about time management).
>>720676421>it makes doing side quests and fully exploring a dungeon for fairies more painful than it needs to beThe game teached me as a kid how fucked our time perception gets when a limitation is adressed, but almost evey schedule is presently manageable. We trick ourselves into thinking that we are failing that making a jump takes a entire hour of our playtime, when it actually takes less than 10 seconds. This is how with jobs live, it's normal.
>>720676973But you're never going to know how long the dungeon is going to take until after you've already done it. Having to reset is just a pointless interruption.
>>720676421NO OTHER game has ever done it as well (or really at all) retard.
>>720677528This. If I could dedicate my life to making just one solo project indie dream game it would be a spiritual successor to Majora's Mask. I would take care to capture that living world in a 3-day cycle feeling. It's so good
>>720677528How well is it done in this game?
>>720677428you can be 100% sure that the dungeon is not going to take more than 3 days.
As a kid I would always dedicate one cycle to a dungeon, fairies and all, then immediately reset after finishing it and then do whatever sidequests were available to me. The time limit isn't too bad considering you have an infinite amount of them and access to fast travel + dungeon skips. The one thing that does kinda suck is how the song of double time only lets you fast forward in six hour increments. The remake fixes this (play Project Restoration if you don't like the other changes), and even in the original, waiting around isn't terrible if you disable slowdown.
>>720677891It's not completing the dungeon it's backtracking through the dungeon to find all the fairies. By the time you complete the dungeon with a few left to find you'd be out of time and have to look through the whole level again. Plus having to physically wait for the npcs to get to certain places in their schedule is really annoying. Like having to wait to talk to Anju at 11pm instead of having her give you the letter immediately upon letting her know you're looking for Kafei.
>>720678457hmm. sounds like this game just isnt for you dude. maybe fortnite? or elden ring?
>>720678598I said I like the game despite its flaws I just don't see why you can't just travel foward in time to hours besides 6am or pm or what's fun about redoing things you've already done or having to wait on npcs for reasons that don't make very much sense.
I think I would like this game more if Clock Town was the only location.
>>720677891>literally make link work 72 hours straight doing puzzles without sleeping or eating
Regarding dungeons how exactly does time management enhance the experience at all? Usually when you're both exploring and doing puzzles you want to do it at your own pace. Adding a time limit just seems to add needless repetition.
>>720680946It doesn't, which is why they allow you to dedicate an entire cycle to it. The time management stuff mainly comes into play with the sidequests
>>720680946I don't think there are time based events in any of the dungeonsSeems like a missed opportunity now that I'm typing it out
>>720678598I'll stick to Ocarina of Time Master Quest thanks for asking, you can enjoy your asset flip
I always hated that hearts are split into quarters but heart pieces don't give you quarter hearts despite being in quarters. It made getting them feel a bit unrewarding especially since the game's combat isn't all that hard and you're not gonna game over all that often since fairies revive you and are plentiful. It made doing a lot of side content feel not all that worth it to me.
