What were they thinking?? This is the crest i was the most excited for and they ruined it

It's capped, but you still regain hearts until the cap, so you can facetank stuff while the heal is up, regaining a lot of silk at the same time, so you can have it on almost the entire time if you play it right.

this hypothetical benefit (that gets massively shafted by double damage) just seems completely outweighted by not having the blue tools that can help you with that goal. it would be better if the enraged state made hornet uninterruptible but you can still lose 1/3 your rage time by taking damage and being on the animation (which in turn reduces your damage compared to something like well played hunter or architect charge)

This allows me to really gauge if a challenge is bullshit: if I would die by not spamming tools but would win by spamming tools it means the challenge is bullshit, it means the difficulty is artificial.
Simple as that, if you designed the game properly I shouldn't be able to cruise away tossing cogbugs, tri-daggers and gauss-silkshots and yet struggle with a triple upgraded needle.
Same goes with the double jump really, I actively try to do platforming with and without double jump and it shows how tedious everything is and how double jump just allows you most often to avoid the tedium.
And that's what it comes down to me: Silksong isn't hard, it just can be real tedious at times.

you have enough tools before charge to destroy almost anything with 3 slots. If youre actually in a situation where youre spending the heal for retooling, theres a 99.99% chance youre destroying the boss so hard you dont care about these tiny masks. Even if you did you can destroy the game with lifeblood

I agree but for bosses this doesn't really matter since you know where to go and during exploration this one slot doesn't seem essential.

Literally what the fuck are you talking about? I'm talking about silk skills and healing using the same resource, not tools.

i missread your post
i dont agree with the silk skills thing, some of them can make it much safer to deal huge quantities of damage, with 3 hearts you naturally regen almost all the silk you need for a silk skill
its not like in HK1, this time around the silk skill is much cheaper than the heal. The parry in particular can be really great for avoiding damage while still dealing some nice damage

normal enemy spawns is a great example too. makes one really wish to land a good sharpdart, silk storm or parry
