One thing i like is how there's a growing number of sao fags on /a/ who are quickly realizing that the problem with the series is Asuna and how she turned the series from science fiction adventure where we could explore how technology affects humanity to romantic comedy where some rich girl forces some dude who wants to be left alone to be her boyfriend.
Makes me feel vindicated.
Also kizmel and argo are best girls.

Mindbroken salty japs upset that Kirito won a girl like Asuna so they constantly make her a mindbroken rape doll is hilarious

There is a much greater problem with SAO. Mostly because everything up until Alicization is quite literally a 1:1 translation from the LNs minus like maybe one part. The writer is a fucking hack. There's zero depth in the world design, the story quickly devolves into the same trope ridden bait (which is what got it a tv series in the first place), and it's laughable how that desire to be so wholly unoriginal led the story away from SAO into Alfheim Online by not only creating a major ass pull, but by continually and completely beating down whatever good faith the show garnished by further inserting tropes and other garish dogshit. The LNs were somewhat entertaining to read based off of the way the author attempted to build the world and the moments surrounding it. You could see where he was trying to go but could never reach. The anime falls apart by the third episode. I still watched it all, I still enjoyed it like it was a slop anime, I just felt incredibly disappointed there wasn't anything more, and by attempting to read the LNs I was further disappointed at my revelation.

I can see Asuna being an issue because it creates an inherent desire for the author to make a character (LI) that must be saved no matter the cost, but therein lies the problem, had there instead been a moment where Asuna was faced with a truly perilous moment and Kirito desperately tried to save her, so he didn't have to repeat the mistakes of the past, yet she still ends up being killed; that would be an awesome moment that could change the entire trajectory of the anime. Perhaps it could lead us back into just climbing the floors, or spiraling Kirito further into such a depression it ends up like Jobless where Rudeus is left so depressed he's got ED and lacks all desire to really live. Then you could build him into whatever token MC you'd like but at least then he'd be even more likeable and it would give people more time to enjoy Aincrad. /rant /tedtalk
