Why did Celeste get so much more attention than N++? Is the latter simply too hard?

Nitrome games were generally fun, stick wars was great but its sequel was complete trash, I think I played some rpgs called "sonny" about a zombie guy that I thought were alright but they were kinda lazily put together iirc.
