You could criticize Nintendo for releasing games unfinished and then adding the rest of the content in free updates. Because even though the end result was still a complete game and no extra cost, they were still contributing to a big problem with modern games where people paid for an unfinished product.But apparently that wasn't enough for them because this is really beyond the pale. Now they're actually charging $20 for DLC that they previously would have given away for free, and the content does not match the price. It is more like the amount of content we're used to seeing in free DLC. And if that wasn't insulting enough, they released it so soon after the base game that you know it was just finished content they left out of the game so they could sell it to you. There's no illusion that it was actually something they were working on after release. It's like Nintendo is speedrunning doing all the worst, most consumer unfriendly aspects of modern gaming, as if to make up for lost time.

In some ways this is the ideal way to do a DLC, its a neat bonus mode that gives some replay value to people that really like bananza and want to play it for 1000s of hours. The average player is not going to be that interested, and I think a lot of players who buy this dlc are going to end up wandering through Kong Island, feel a bit disappointed and shelve it there. DK Island should have been free, or had more going on in the island itself, How many Anons have actually played Emerald Rush yet? I actually like the DLC. I do recon that is a lot overpriced, but fucking hell Emerald Rush is fun and addictive, I've spent the whole Sunday playing it.Turns out the mode looked boring at the onset because the higher difficulties are locked from the beginning, and that's where all the fun stuff is. You also do get waaay more than 6 layers to play it, you just have to unlock the rest after clearing the DLC.DK Island should really have been on the base game, because there are lot of cute easter eggs for series fans.Anyway, I'm gonna keep alternating between this and Silksong for a while.
