I don't know why people care about games being in 60 frames or not, the human eye can only see 24 frames per second.

yeah thats okay if you never blink, but shutterspeed matters. the more frames the less chance you blink during a frame roll and your brain desyncs.
>>
>>720698304
For me:
24 is minimum
30 is ok
40 is nice
60 is perfect

I looked at 75Hz phone display, this is all my experience with above 60Hz.
>>

>displayin 15fps at 60fps
nice try. of course 15fps is going to stutter if its not run at native fps
>>
lol

a lot of people used to say this during the PS3 360 era

It did not age well

>movies are in 24 fps
>the human eye can't see more than 24 fps
>games really don't need to be more than 24 fps
>it doesn't have any effect
>just cap games at 30 fps and call it a day
>we'll never need more than that
>>
>>720698779
>>we'll never need more than that
We don't
>>
Actually I can't see so all games should be text games
>>
>>720698779
Oh. I forgot.

>cap games at 30 fps, the extra fps will just be a buffer in case the frames drop. because if it does drop below 24 fps you will notice
>>
I can see the difference between 60 fps and 144 fps.
>>

how are you going to read them?

I can't play youtube videos at 60 frames because it crashes my browser

The same way the Regi puzzle worked in RSE. Braille on the screen. Duh.

I only play at 240+ HZ in 4K. Is this a poorfag thread? How do you guys do it?
>>
>>720699012
Use another browser or something.
I seem absolutely fucking garbage computers be able to pull it off.
>>
low frame rate makes me feel sick desu
>>
>>720698304
I don't play games where going over 30fps really matters.
>>
>>720698304
watch a movie shot at a high frame rate like "gemini man" and you will see how silly this notion is. high fps films have this weird uncanny ugliness to them

i refuse to believe that there are people who think that eyes really do only see at 24 fps. what the fuck is their life like? what if they really are just stuck at 24 fps while everyone else is normal?
>>
>>720698948
Lie, the human eye can only see 8 frames a second.
>>
>>720698595
This ironically makes the argument that you shouldn't raise the FPS of games not designed to go higher, but nobody will listen and still ruin their games.
>>
>>720698304
Frame rate that the eyes can see is actually a pretty annoying and complex issue.
Basically, your eyes create a natural motion blur (wag your hands like some manchild that just got a nintendo switch and you will see).
This happens because the state change of the eye cells is not instant, it's a gradual change of signal.
At 24 FPS, specially without artificial fake motion blur, the natural motion blur will be all stairstepped and fake and your brain will be able to detect this. With 60 FPS, you get less steps.
Also as it's a state change, the contrast of the picture matters quite a bit as its easier to disguise the steps if the picture has very low contrast or is very dim. some absolutely dogshit led displays are just dim to disguise the low frame rate they run on.

And finally, there are cases where the human eye can detect the equivalent to 1000 FPS, but it's cheating. the test involves getting you in a dark room, and then flashing a really strong light for 1/1000th of a second.
You won't see the actual flash, but the light will be on your eye cells for a while, so you will see the decaying light.
>>
Imagine using computer terms for biological parts. That's like asking how many RPMs your heart rate is
>>
>>720699439
Even if that's true, the brain will notice it because the brain basically does framegen where there's a lot of guess work visually. Optical illusions is an example of this and motion blur is a product of that. So your brain will see the difference even if your eyes do not.
>>
>>720698304
The human brain can only pick out every detail in full frames 24 times per second. The human brain can see changes between frames far, far above that.
Meanwhile, the human eye has a hair trigger and three photons hitting the same spot is enough to be detected. Doesn't mean the signal will get processed by your brain, but hey.
>>
>>720699775
Does it do upscaling and dynamic resolution as well? I'm thinking about upgrading my brain.

24 fps was a compromise from the transition of silent film to talkies. There was no single standard before, but you NEED an exact speed for sound, or else it'll distort or lose sync. 24 fps was "good enough" by the standards of a hundred years ago, but even then people knew it was not ideal.

Human eye can see about 80 frames I think? Not any higher than that.
If you disagree then my condolences because your life is a nightmare with lighting in any household whatsoever. Your lights are always flickering 100 times a second.
>>
>>720703052
That's not true, they knew back in the day that the human eye could only perceive images being shown at a speed of 24 times in a second, which is why they settled for that standard.
I don't know why people insist, you THINK you can see more because you see the number go up, but you are only seeing 24 frames.

The difference between 60 and 144 is astounding. Playing a game on a pc that can push 144 frames per second on a 1440p monitor running at 144 hz is something I wish everyone could experience.

Go and enjoy 24fps in VR then.
