My dad fucking loves Jagged Alliance 2
My dad is an aviation dork so he had these games where you would fly a helicopter in first person and we always crashed and could never figure out the controls properly. Fun times, wish I remember what they were called. He played AoE2 as well.
>>720702409That guy is having WAY too much fun gunning down people
>>720702329Anon, this is more like grandpa core.
>>720702409Dude is really getting in to it.
>>720702540Based
SC2D2WoWDotaDoom
>>720702543Maybe the Commanche games?
>>720702329My dads favorite game
>>720702329Yeah my dad played video games all the time in between working overtime 16 hours and binge drinking for the other 8.
The whole series is classic dadcore. Even Duke 1-2
>>720702409I remember playing this at an arcade 20 years ago. It had a giant ball turret you sat in.
>>720702329Thief and fan missions. There are plenty of millennials and zoomers playing old games like Doom or Quake, but Thief is 99% old fucks.
My has been playing this game on the same map since 1998.My mom has stories about him playing this shit while ignoring her calls for help dealing with my ass when I was a baby in the late 90s.
These games
>>720704578I remember not really liking M.A.X 2 compared to the first one. I played the hell out of the first game(LAN play and multiplayer with a friend). What a great game.
>>720702329my dad just plays team fortress 1, mist, and mdk 2.
kids who played this at launch are on their 30s
>>720702409machine gun nipples
My dad played some golf game on our old mac, it looked kind of like golden tee where it's third person and your guy is just a big spriteI remember it had a setting for "goofy announcer" or something along those linesI would love to figure out what it was
>>720704401>tsumo
>>720704762This and Battlefield Vietnam were the only 2 games my dad played with me, he never had interest in any other games
My dad (now in his 70s) now probably has 3k hours in KSP. A lot of that would be idle time, but the majority would not.
>>720703696>i actually played duke 1 and 2 before 3dam i a zaddy
>>720703696Why duke nukem logo looks like borderlands 4 lol
my dad really liked Tiger Woods PGA tour 2004 specifically
>>720706220its pronounced tsu-mo with the stress on the tsu
threads like this remind me how old I ammy parents were already adults when Pac Man first got popular, neither of them have ever willingly touched a video game in their life and only have a vague understanding of what they even are
Bought Battlefield 1942 when I was a kid and because it had 2 disks, I could give my father one disk and play LAN with him. It was cool for me but he didn't think that... Shame that he never gasped about quality time with both of his son (I understand him, my grandfather never bonded with him after his mother died after he was born).Outlaws (the cowboy one), Age of mythology and Halo ( I discovered Halo after watching Red vs Blue and showed my dad, he never played Halo, but he loves the theme)OH, WHILE I WAS TYPING, I REMEMBERED THAT HE HAS THE BOX VERSION OF LARA CROFT AND FLIGHT SIMULATOR.
>>720704762He loved Black Hawk Down and Modern Warfare.
My dad probably sunk more hours into HoMM3 than I have in any game.
>>720702540based dad
>>720704996Shame it's fucking broken and always crashes after like turn 150.
>>720705773In fact, I am already closing in on 40On topic: My dad only ever used to play some shitty Game Boy games like Chessmaster, some soccer game and some top-down Formula 1 racing game.He also played other racing games with us something, but eventually not anymore because "everything is going too fast". Wondering if I will be the same in ten years or so.More recently I showed him my VR setup with Assetto Corsa, but he got motion sick pretty quickly.
My dad actually went out of his way to buy NAM/NAPALM and actually try to play it which is wild, he would rarely dabble in Tetris but was otherwise a fan of Lightgun games, played his fair share of Lethal Enforcers and Time Crisis back in the day, and weirdly enough, T-MEK
>>720706203Love this game so much bros.
Good luck finding something older than this.
not sure if it's dadcore but the only video game i remember ever playing with my dad was operation wolf on the master system (we would do this sort-of-but-not-really-coop with one of us on the gun and the other throwing grenades on controller 2)we never beat the goddamn thing
>>720702409I wonder what was in his mind introducing this game to me and seeing me right now
I wish my dad played videogamesall he does is waste money on online slots and chatting with sluts on livejasmin
>>720713584why is he pissing away money like that
>>720705773They also don't have kids. Therefore, not dad gaming.
>>720702329My dad didn't understand doing something that accomplished nothing of real world use like video games, and that wasn't just his boomer opinion. He literally didn't know how to live life without using his body and mind for a practical purpose.
>>720713710he has given up after mom left him for being a drunk
My dad used to play all sorts of FPS but has been exclusively playing Far Cry 5 since it came out. That arcade mode where you can upload custom maps is like crack to him, he must play every fucking thing someone puts on there.
My dad plays FFXIV. Before that was released he played FFXI. Before that he mostly played RTS games. Let's see, before we got a PC he played on all consoles back to Atari, and arcades before that.
>>720713817So he never watched TV or read a book or had a beer?
>>72070577336 here.Anyway, my dad really likes Golden Axe on the megadrive and really (REALLY) got into wii sports resort table tennis. He was legit destroying all the bots and wanted me and my bro to play him just so he could destroy us.
everyone sounds in their 40s/50s when they use their mics. it's also only populated enough to play in the evenings or on weekends.
my dad enjoys the Megadimension Neptunia games, he says they're smart games
>>720703696>Duke 3D>Plutonium Pak (literally 1 episode)>...Level editorWhat a padded list.
only game my dad would play and enjoy
The only games my dad ever enjoyed were MediEvil and MediEvil 2.>>720703262Based. I loved the PS2 era Conflict games.
>>720714149I should go back. I miss it. I think I miss DOD gldsrc even more.
That explosions
>>720714805i like the idea of a true "smart game" that is always challenging you to the absolute peak of your limits at all times without being overwhelming, where failure is still a real danger if the game detects you are not "locked the fuck in" as the zoomers say
>>720702697This right here
The only games my dad plays are the PS2 Hitman games.
My dad would always get home angry as shit at his day and beat the piss out of my mom or me and would always try to smash my knees out with what ever was on hand, he used his xbox once and it left me unable to walk for days
a real father doesn't play games
>>720716519I'm sorry to hear that. I wonder what caused boomers to do shit like that? Like why did those sorts of genetic/ memetic behaviors last so long? You'd think it would have been purged at least a century ago.
>>720716638Leaded gasoline, unironically
Descent is the ultimate Dadcore game ever Made.
I was playing Gran Turismo 4 on an emulator and it was the only time my dad stopped and stared at the screen, genuinely intrigued in whatever I was doing. The man hasn't touched a video game outside of arcades in the 80s and 90s, but is a massive car autist. Kept asking me questions like "Is that a Golf 4?" and trying to be nonchalant, but he was very obviously intrigued.
>>720716729mine certainly loves it
>>720702329https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BdKO7rkJp0
>>720716939You could tell me this was a game specifically made for My Summer Car and I'd unironically believe you.
>>720716917It's either Descent or DemonStar https://youtu.be/orC4eqfhMHY?si=7hM5F2mKVz5Iyye3
>>720716981If you want to experience finnish 90s shitgame scene then you can download bunch of old games from here https://tgf.pikseli.org/Tapan Kaikki is actually very good gamehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCUMb5_ByRo
>>720716729I'be never been able to get into Descent unless it's followed by the word Freespace.
I'm getting to old for this website
>>720702540based pops
>>720713729>They also don't have kids.???
>>720702565>peopleI think he's apt to disagree
>>720717102I can't stop playing freecell. I guess I'm dadbrained
>>720702329My dad plays this all the time, still didn't get all the achievements tho

>>720717464People who still regularly play SM64 today don't have children
HoMM3
>>720702437Oh shit I remember that airport. Meigs Field it was called. Cute little strip my dad told me. Till the Mayor just random decided "nah" and destroyed it overnight. Now it's just another park. a nice one at least.
>>720707203tell him there's a speed up button and he doesn't actually have to wait 26 days to get to Minmus
>>720702329my dad got this for my brother around the time it came out. He was in his 40s. He played occasionally with my brother until he got mad at him for something and threw it away. He didn't play anything since and began to hate videogames because of my brother.
>>720714097Got Silent Hunter 2 off my grandad when he bought this. I barely played it since I wanted to play 3 just like him
>>720717824Your dad sounds like a massive bitch
>>720702409Based. I remember having the demo for this and was hooked
Dad used to play all sorts of cool shit I got hooked on later. X-COM, Jagged Alliance, Il-2, C&C, Wing Commander, Silent Storm. And some more that wasn't my cup of tea like MSFS or Silent Hunter. But the past decade the only two things he expresses any inclination towards are beer and World of Warships. I don't know which is worse at this point.
>>720713932>My dad plays FFXIVSad that someone like that was allowed to reproduce.
>>720702382Classic and woth is better
>>720702329I remember using the deer call, and our dogs would go nuts.So I'd lower the volume enough for them to hear it, while my parents couldn't hear a thing, and cause utter chaos
My dad has been asking me for games to play, what would unironically be a good game for someone's first game? He doesn't like retro graphics so it has to be somewhat modern game, ps3 graphics or later and it has to be something a real grown adult man likes no faggy shit.
>>720718505>woth is betterlol, lmao even
>>720717485freecell is kino

>>720718642I prefer missions like 'harvest 150 lb lesser scaup for a wedding' over grinding 100 hours for a dia. Also no shitty great ones
Bunch of fake dads ITT.
>>720718778>I prefer missions like 'harvest 150 lb lesser scaup for a wedding' over grinding 100 hours for a dia.I don't remember a single mission that has you harvest a diamond. But yeah, mission design in COTW is kinda sucky. Still doesn't make WOTH better in any way.
The 'drown out your wife and children' special.
My old man only played games one time>waited until kids were in bed>installed Doom 1 shareware version>played until early morning and finished it in one sitting>never played a game again after that
My 60s dad and my fav game - Medal of Honour Allied Assault
>>720718861Whats your problem with woth or is it just camp a / camp b mentality

>>720702329pac man and dig dug were his favorites. besides that he never played many games.

>>720719165>>720719283>no guiz adults cant play video games! Only children play games so 90s games means they were a kid then!Autism posts
>>720702669my father and I would get pissed because this wouldn't run on windows 95 or 3.1 or something
>>720702697100% thislast year i played the whole series with my pops
>>720719283Lots of actual boomers that used to have office jobs before they retired play vidya. They play shit like SimCity 4, Rollercoaster Tycoon 2, and Sims, though.
>>720719165My dad loved Doom and Duke3D and hardly played anything before that. Most 80s games PC games were either text adventures or simplistic platformers anyway. No we did not own any consoles, it was always just PC.
>>720702329>Terminal Velocity>Diablo 1>Close Combat: A Bridge to far>Operation Flashpoint
My dad was obsessed with Railroad Tycoon, but he was never truly into games. Enjoyed Sim City too, but by mid/late 90s he never played anything.
>>720702409>do what you love and you won't have to work a day in your life
>>720719501Just to be clear, we are talking about the people who still call every console a "Nintendo" or "Playstation".Among my parents, relatives, in-laws and parents of friends (all 60+) there is not a single one who would play or know any game beyond Tetris (maybe my parents based on what my brother and I played).
>>720702329I thought that was deer's revenge for a second
This is the only game my boomer 70s coasting dad plays. He thinks vidya are for spoiled children.
I wish my dad played vidya games, he legit spends his time when he's not at work listening to ai bullshit, like ai revenge stories about people getting one over mean people
>>720704762>snipe a nigga with realistic bullet drop from 2 miles away>this is the core gameplay loopThen they reused the name to make it some shitty e-sports thing. Shame really.
>>720714097I was once playing this and my dad saw what I was doing, pulled up a chair, and watched me bothering a convoy for about two hours in silence, only occasionally speaking to offer me some advice.>attack the tanker, it's bigger and more valuable>I think that's a destroyer heading towards you>turn your engines off until he's over you, then slowly turn around and sneak in the other direction>why are you rearming the torpedoes? there's no point in doing that now
>>720719952He's probably too tired to do anything else. You'd understand too if you had a job.
>>720720538nta, but I have a job and I am too tired to do anything but playing games.
>>720720538I am that anon and I have a job, I make like 20 bucks an hour, it's not great money, but shit is cheap here.
>>720719601Terminal Velocity/Fury 3 were great. Kind of simplistic, but they felt good.
>>720708487This was fixed, at last. Only took 25 years.https://klei1984.github.io/max/download/
>>720718502trying swinging from a rope
>>720718639what genres does he like?
>>720719601>Close CombatI can still hear the "GET ME OUT"
>>720720538Playing video games is not work. If you're too tired for that shit you should just be asleep at that point.
>>720713817Based dad. People from that generation should not be on the internet liking AI slop.
>>720702329I fucking win for once
>>720703262I remember playing this when I was 8 I kept having to replay missions couse I end up stuck up against armored vehicles without any anti-armor weapons
>>720718639probably read dead redemption 2, never played it myself but it seems dadcore
>>720718639Maybe L.A. Noire or RDR2
Civ, Amiga.
>>720714097Good game. Infamously hard to run on modern systems iirc.
>>720719601I'm so used to seeing A BIB A TOOT that the real cover looks fake.
>>720702329literally every single slower paced tactical FPSI don't know why it attracts so many dads, even rainbow six siege during the first year had lots of dads and I think that game would be a lot better now if it catered to the dad players
>>720723289As someone who dusted off his Call of Duty 4 after almost 20 years I can tell you that it's just too much.I go in there, specops shit, and suddenly I face the entire chechen army and millions of towelheads and all kinds of heavy machinery and I have probably killed more people in the CoD4 campaign as Soap than I did in the entirety of CoD(UO).That kind of shit is just stressful. I'd rather breach a door with my squad in SWAT 4.
>>720722707works on my machineâ„¢
>>720723698Do you calculate your own firing solutions?
>>720702329Wasn't there a Deer Hunter game that was essentially Far Cry?
>>720702329Any Hunting GameAny RTS
>>720711767BEE 17 BAWWWWMER
>>720723657It's interesting because I think something like SWAT is a lot more stressful and it's part of why I play it. Call of Duty is like you're THE guy, a one man army, but with SWAT you're just A guy, you can die just as easily as you can kill someone else.
>>720724437>Call of Duty is like you're THE guy, a one man army, but with SWAT you're just A guy, you can die just as easily as you can kill someone else.Yeah, but it's not about how squishy you are, but how many enemies are on screen at once and how in SWAT4 you don't have to run to pass a trigger to make them stop spawning. Also, even on Hardened you WILL die pretty quickly because the air is lead saturated.
>>720702409they had a version of this at gameworks where you wore a giant vr headset. There was also a similar title that spun you around in a little plexiglass cage with the screen mounted in front of you, was fucking great
>>720723757Doesn't look like it from his webm
>>720722707Runs fine for me with DXVK and widescreen mod.
>>720719227Doom 3 came out 20 years ago...
>>720729672Yes, so if his dad played it, guess what?

>>72070577339 here got it at launch. One of my earliest memories is my dad bringing home a nes in like 89 or 90 or something with the grey (not orange faggot shit) zapper and the mario bros/duckhunt cart. We played a ton of shit together all the time but mostly it was the TMNT game. We never did beat it together because I was like 4 and he wasn't the greatest at games but we loved that piece of shit. Good memories. We played some Mario Kart on the SNES but he was pretty much out on games by then. I remember him being absolutely blown away at how Mario 64 looked though.
>ctrl f madden>0 resultswhat's more dadcore than football?
>>720730809I doubt anyone under 40 plays sportsball games
>>720730031Boomers can't like Doom 3?
>>720713932Wtf? Do we have the same dad?
Prostagma
my dad played this all the time
>>720730937why not? If anything, it'd probably be better for boomers to play that than throw out their back.
im a dad. Turn-based tactical games are my shit. Even if they're RTS, isometric tactical games are my shit. I used to love FPS but no longer have the reaction time for it.Wasteland 3Rogue TraderShadow RunBattletech
>>720702329Now, this is dadcore.
>>720730937Yes, I would assume most people old enough to post here would have dads 40+
My dad pretty much only plays, stronghold crusade, medal of honor and world of tanks. and i love playing lost vikings with him on his old ass dos machine
>>720733545>stronghold crusadedoes he know it just got a remaster?
>>720733685You mean the HD version? Isnt that from around 2012?

>>720735507Yeah it's very good and playable now. There are some systematic problems with character building IMO, but I won't get in to them here. There's apparently more DLC on the way, but I wouldn't wait for it. The complete edition is still probably years away.
>>720736381righto. thanks chap.

>>720702329Worms Armageddon is literally the only game my dad has played for years, and he's gotten in at least one match vs the computer per day for the last few years.I played a match against him not too long ago and he doesn't even know how to use the Ninja Rope. Still beats the lvl 5 CPU consistently though. He always played through the Gran Turismo and GTA games on release, but lost interest after GT Sport, and GTA 5 is 12 years old now.
>flight simI'll raise ya.
first shooter i ever played because my dad read a lot of Tom Clancy and had a few PC games including this one and Sum of All Fears frankly, they were both way too hard for 5 year old me and I didn't really understand the objectives, but I just liked sneaking around and shooting guys with a suppressed pistol
>>720716125i never played gldsrc, but dods is fun. i prefer the various community maps at this point since i have so many hours on flash/anzio/etc. 415 is my favorite server

My dad is from the really cringe subset of people who HATES anime, which is really stupid because if he could just get over his "manliness" I know that he would fucking love it. The dude watches the twilight franchise on repeat because he loves slice of life teenager shit, but he can't watch anime? lmfao. He is missing out so bad, he would fucking love it. He refuses to watch anything foreign at all, so kdrama is out too.. I feel bad, because if he was younger in this day and age he would be absolutely swimming in content
>>720756231>cringe dad>raised cringe daughter (male)Checks out
I am a dad. My favourite games are Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon, MGS1 and KOTOR 2
>>720756231for my dad it is less "masculinity" and more the fact that to him it all looks the same and is always over the top so he doesn't like it. The only anime he likes is from studio ghibli, lain and angel's egg.

>>720714149I didn't like DOD:Source because they got rid of grenade priming. Also some other changes like only certain classes had a side arm, riflemen only had rifle grenades and not regular grenades, and a bunch of other things.
>>720757047No? Even in campaign mode you're competing against an AI opponent that will react to your strategies with its own (even if it may be very stupid about it). That's not a puzzle that's strategy.

>>720757047>>720757508Let's just call it even and say that while city builder is technically a sub section of RTS, it is not what people would traditionally think of as an RTS. RTS is typically isometric strategy, with resource gathering and management, and unit production, where you are fighting an opponent. City builders are more like you are fighting other constraints. I think they're both "puzzle" games in their own ways

I can't have any father son bonding time with mine because he is not interested in video games. all he does is watch football on tv or occasional netflix movie
The only game he ever played with me was Nascar Rumble. He recently told me he bought a nogames5 and I didn't know what to say cause he really wants to bond over nerdy shit now that it's mainstream but his zog brain can't really comprehend it.
Man if I was like my parents my child would have 16 years now, what the fuck. I would be the dad that's autistic about HL2 and Factorio and shit. When I was his age I already had a successful youtube channel. It's so weird to think that my child would be "my dad is a youtuber". But thankfully I'm not retarded enough to have children and all of the males in my family are psychopaths, so I only have my Mom whose favorite game is New Vegas, but she also played a ton of others, and my late Grandma who was like a second Mom to me, she loved driving in BeamNG and suicide herself screaming "WOOHOO SEE YOU IN THE NEXT LIFE!!!" while jumping off cliffs. https://litter.catbox.moe/rv7eg35iddxtmh99.mp4Her amazement that you can drive from 1st person (She played GTA IV before that), is something I can relate to soo fucking much, I felt the same emotions when I was child playing new games to me. I have IRL friends, but she was my best friend. We could watch the same shows and youtube videos and she would get everything, like a fucking millennial that I am, despite being a mechanical engineer raised and educated in the fucking USSR. Thanks to her education she fucking understood my autism. I bought a 3d printer a few years before she dies and I could talk to her about it as equals, after explaining how it works... Man I fucking miss her so much.

>>720809758Thanks!, do you have Age of Empire by any chance?
>>720759736my dad was nearly 60 when he had me.
my dad doesn't play vidya
>>720775023>picI would try to sink those subs but they're probably not even actual targets. They popped out of the water momentarily, shot an undodgeable missile that one-shot you, and submerged again. The game had splitscreen multiplayer that we played a bunch.
>>720702409>>720702639>>720704401>>720730515>>720750671Never expected to see this game on /v/. Some arcades here had modded versions since the sprites are easily replaceable, so you had taliban-looking dudes despite here being the Middle East, the default beige armies, and then a tougher-looking cyber army(?).Also the games are difficult as fuck in the later stages, and Beachhead 2002 is almost unwinnable towards the end where every bullet counts.
>>720814027>Never expected to see this game on /v/.I've seen people meme about the boxart on here before now. It's Mystery Of The Druids levels of funny.
>>720702329RIP used to play this one with him
My dad only played our homebrew game called "I drink then slap you with my belt" with me and my brothers. Not funny. Also he was mesmerized by picrel so he spend some time with it albeit he sucked heavily. Rip (rest in piss) you monster
>>720702543I'm guessing it would have been Jane's Longbow 2, Apache (1995) or Hind (1996), as they were some early proper helicopter sims.>>720702669Commanche was an arcade game. It's good though, I played Commanche 4 and loved it, the battlefield simulation engine is cool even today, each level had a feeling of a living world down to the individual soldier level. I used to make custom missions which were massive beach landings with tons of soldiers on each side. You could put down landing craft and place soldiers inside them and they would fucking stick to the landing craft and not fall out, insane engine>>720719423>my father and I would get pissed because this wouldn't run on windows 95 or 3.1 or somethingThat's strange because Novalogic games had a special voxel engine which seemed to run on anything, it ran fine on my shitbox>>720704762>Delta ForceAnother Novalogic classic, amazing game series. It caught me completely by surprise when I noticed it had been rebooted into some shitty hero shooter or whatever
>>720716729holy shit. My dad loved this game
I refuse to call it Arma: Cold War Assault or whatever it's called nowadays. For me it'll always be Operation Flashpoint. I was serving in the military at the time, so sitting around doing nothing during the fist few missions hit really close to home, lol.
Man so many awesome games in here. My dad used to game on the Amiga 500 and then one day when I was about 4 he just abruptly stopped and never touched games again. I think he decided that he couldn't be a dad and play videogames at the same time, a strange guy. He used to play F22 Retaliator, FA/18 Interceptor, and World Class Leader Board (a golf game). He tried to play one of the early Falcon games but he couldn't figure it out.>>720709641>"everything is going too fast". Wondering if I will be the same in ten years or so.Nah I don't think so, I think it's more an issue of getting stuck in your comfort zone and never leaving it. People say that certain parts of the brain decline with age but I've come to believe that it's entirely based on what parts of the brain you regularly use or neglect>>720706203>Rush 2I played the first one. Loved it, the level design was amazing for an N64 game, lots of fun little nooks to explore. The levels were based on real parts of San Francisco complete with landmarks. You can actually visit many places in the game IRL>>720707642>Tiger Woods PGA tour 2004Yes that's commonly considered to be the best ever golf game. Your dad has good taste
>>720752475>MidwinterHoly fuck wasn't expecting to see this one here. I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing as a kid so I just would ski and buggy around the map until I found a ski-lift, then I'd ride it up and try and fly the hang-glider. Apparently it's actually a very simple game because you can just haul ass to the enemy HQ and blow it up and you win.>>720761084>new military games attract almost exclusively faggotsThe men moved into proper milsims>>720761818>Hidden and Dangerous 2Loved the first game. Downloaded it for free to play on my laptop when I was a kid who couldn't afford to buy games and my retarded dad wouldn't let me port forward so I could torrent. Very comfy tactical shooter
>>720781807>Falcon 4 is very much alive in the form of Falcon BMS.Falcon BMS is the more hardcore alternative to DCS. One of the only milsims out there with an actual honest-to-god dynamic campaign system, I wish more people cared about that sort of thing>>720738707>Conflict Vietnam was fucking horseshit. You got owned so easily in it that every level took hoursIt's from an era where games were supposed to be difficult. I finished it as a 15 year old and enjoyed it>>720815825The fuck is this game and why does it have exactly the same interface as Gran Turismo 4
>>720818879>The fuck is this game and why does it have exactly the same interface as Gran Turismo 4Made by the same devs. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tourist_Trophy_(video_game)
