I find it hard to believe after 15 years that Mass Effect 2 still has fans and defenders.

What's the matter?

Can't handle the sight of a strong nord woman?

I can appreciate it only if I pretend its a standalone game completely unrelated to the first.

I still replay ME1 every few years but with ME2 I get a couple missions in and drop it. The drop in quality of the lore and aesthetic just makes it impossible to get immersed, especially knowing that none of the events matter and the crew gets broken up anyway by the time ME3 happens.

For me it's the opposite. Mostly the unexplored planets that are fucking terrible, though I guess they do make you feel alone in the universe if that was their goal

so did they make those species-shaped reapers and then stuck them into the actual reapers or what?

I much prefer the gameplay of 2 and 3 over 1. ME1 just felt super awkward with its inventory and itemization. Plus the awful driving missions were horrible. That being said, they character-assassinated Liara so fucking hard. Ashley hating your ass in 2 is also a punch in the face.

Would've been better if they stuck with the original plot from ME1 with the Geth reviving Shepard. Cerberus being anything but the schizophrenic "literally who" terrorist organisation they were in ME1 is stupid, including their incarnation as a galactic threat-level terrorist organisation in ME3.

I find it surprising people like mass effect. Dollar store scifi plot with gay characters and shit console shooter gameplay that as a franchise immediately trips on its own dick and falls down a staircase, fumbling every single potential story element instantly.
It's got half a decent game in the whole series.

Something like that

Ashley? There are seriously people who didn't leave her strapped to the nuke?
>>

Yes? Her being xenophobic made a lot of sense. She was pretty fun in ME1. ME2 she just has a lot of trust issues... also it would've made more sense for her to join since we were part of the human supremacy group... oh well.

Name any other AAA sci-fi RPG with waifus, setting and ship.
