Story mode is an extended tutorial, there are a lot of weak levels (including the super duper level you spend the whole game expanding), the new features they added all suck, if you don't like pop punk the soundtrack isn't for you, character creation was downgraded, and it's big "one map" gimmick was a lie. Still enjoyable but was definitely on the decline by then.

ambitious yet flawed
kind of trying too hard to be too punk if you get what I mean
the hallway sections were a weak replacement for loading screens and it only worked in the career mode

arguably okay maps though, including a return to the oil rig, which was nice for people who missed it
classic mode maps in general were all great
only a passable soundtrack, some of the cover songs were p good, still, trying too hard you know?

it wasn't gonna be thug 3 but I think this was kind of the wrong direction for it
a lot of freeroam open-world hype around games like the ps2 GTA's had built up by then so N-soft wanted to emulate that as quick as possible but it just wasn't it

The soundtrack was NOT as good as THUG and THUG 2 but the covers were good for the most part. MCR's Astro Zombie cover is very good.
Its the last Tony Hawk game, really. Skate took over after this
