My main gripe is how poorly balanced it is, first edition at least -- haven't played the new one. We were able to completely break it on the second game, and by the fourth came up with a sizable list of homebrew rules to make it more playable. And I'm not even a board game nerd.
The game is basically a bad (even worse, Munchkin you can at least play with people who only played Monopoly before and have some amount of fun) version of a Munchkin, which is what everyone who wants to make a board game does.
Presentation is great, that's true. Especially if you've got a version with metal coins.
I recently spotted a group of teens, want to say around 14 years old, playing TBoI board game in the mall food court. Unexpected.
