Now that Civilization VII has been confirmed as a flop with the staff being laid off, how much do you think they regret doing this terrible idea that was civ-switching? steam stats from right now:>Sid Meier's Civilization V: 10,712 players right now>Sid Meier's Civilization VI: 26,466 players right now>Sid Meier's Civilization VII: 4,280 players right now
>Hey Supudeh here, Civ VII is amazing! Don't listen to them haterz!>STOP NOT WATCHING MY CIV VII VIDEOS WHERE I CALL MINOR PATCHES GAME-SAVING UPDATES THIS IS EMOTIONAL TERRORISM
THATS IT YOUR TURNING TO BUGANDA
On one hand I laugh at cov not being about the fucking civ for 7 but on the other I cry that I'll be waiting at least 5-7 more fucking years for civ 8. I didn't deserve this, especially after Xcom got shelved for Marvel slop. I like Chimera Squad as a 1 off but I don't want that art style oflr fucking newgen hybrid faggots spreading diversity and pride in the next xcom. Why must the things I like turn to coal.
>>720717723What's funny is that it's not actually terrible in humankind but firaxis actually managed to make it worse and less interesting somehow.
I think Piraxis is fine with this, since Civ VI was made to be played on tablets and consoles, and Civ VII had a same day release with consoles.
>>720718070Pretty bold of you to assume there'll even be a Civ 8.
>>720718210Are you one of those people who think VII has a secret majority of console players
>>720718251This isn't EA. 1 bad game does not kill the ip. Now 2 bad games likely will. That being said for the faults of 6 it was a massive success financially and endures like civ 5. I just wanted civ 6 but with the districts improved vastly and some more generation variables on maps.
>>720718323No, what I am saying is that the lost revenue among PC users, will be make back with expansions and the console base, and you cannot rule out the developers pushing the game on mobile as well.>>720718251I do not like hispanic girls, but fuck, I want my face there.
>>720717723>how much do you think they regret doing this terrible ideaNot at all, they would rather blame their own audience and go bankrupt rather than admit that they were wrong.
>>720717723christ what were they thinking
>>720718676They were thinking that they would sell Multiple Civlets/One Leader packs for a decade
>>720718676supposedly they had statistics that show most players never finish a game, and so they wanted to break a single game into 3 smaller games played in a row. They failed to actually think about if players never finishing a game is actually a bad thing that needed to be fixed.I'm sure the higher ups still believe there's a mythical "core audience" or whatever they call it that will always buy the game no matter what so instead of appealing to the people who play the game they want to appeal to new customers instead.
I thought they'd try doing the idea better in Civ 8, but honestly, this flopped even harder than I thought it would, so they might just backpedal immediately kekaroo
>>720718983I love their logic because it still makes no fucking sense. Just because you give me two gay crisis events that "reset" everything I won't be more interested in finishing the game, the endgame will still remain a fucking slog no matter what.
>>720718983Why would they even think that not finishing a game is a "bad" thing? What Firaxis and Civ autists fail to realize, is that most people play Civ as an ahistorical sandboxMost people that play Civ play it for the roleplay value and because it's fun being a dictator building a huge 7000 years old amerindian empire that has access to nukes and jet fightersWith Civ 7 they completely sapped away that aspect of the games
>>720718983The funniest thing is that from what I've heard lots of people stop playing after the first era, so they made the issue even worse.
the funniest part of the VII playercount is if you compare it with VIs
>>720719358It is a bad thing. It's not like I don't finish games because I'm tired of my history LARP. It's because the endgame is dogshit tedious. Military victory just means genociding everyone, that shit takes forever and moving your forces around is annoying as fuck. Not to mention that the entire world immediately starts hating you. Religious victories are just military victories on another layer. The other types aren't really any different between playthroughs so they aren't that interesting to repeat. But whatever the fuck they did isn't really a fix. It just delays your snowballing by a bit. That's it. At the cost of pissing people of who do like to history LARP.
>>720717873Did he kys yet?
>>720719898>Military victory just means genociding everyone, that shit takes forever and moving your forces around is annoying as fuck.Honestly in 6 it's pretty fun, because a fully upgraded Death Robot will obliterate anything in its path, can move across the whole fucking planet in one turn, so the endgame war doesn't last too long
I didn't play the demo for EL2, was it good? We'll get new good 4X games right?
buganda
>>720720042Is this a mod?
>>720719462>Civ6 fell from 75k to 50k players>Civ7 has 10k playersWhen did the 15k people go?
i hate districtsi hate limited use workerswon't migrate from 5
>>720720393So many girls had crushes on Sheldon, apparently when he went to prison for buying huge bag of coke he got tons of love letters from girls
>>720720971Yeah Districts are why I can't play 6
>>720720593Why the fuck would death robots be a mod?
>>720721194I dunno I've never finished a single game of 6. I got to like ww2 era and dropped it
>>720721080too bad he's a faggot
>>720720971I don't hate districts themselves. But considering how the idea behind those things is that you have to plan ahead the game sure barely gives you any tools to do so.
>>720717723what is the point of civilization anyway? the paradox games mogs them in replayability and fun factor. the only criteria in which civilization is good are AI opponents
>>720721710I would struggle to call Stellaris a game in the first place, never mind discussion on whether it's a good or bad one.
>>720721710>what is the point of 4x anyway?lol
>>720717723not surprised, i was turned off when i read about forced civ switching, really thought it was a retarded idea, i wish they would have scrap that, but game dev like smelling their own farts in 2025 so nothing surprising, bet they are blaming the players or something?>>720718676sweet baby inc, about how its normal for a civ to change with time, like how you are supposed your white country turns to a brown country, no joke, you are also racist wether you like it or not
>>720718251nice :D
>>720719076Civ 8 is going to be the safest, most desperate pivot to be liked since The Rise of Skywalker
>>720721349>>720721194At some point in my min-maxing of deity culture wins, i too would ask if this is a mod, although if i do not get a fast culture win, i will need to go to war, so seeing information era military units is kind of a loss anyway.
>>720717723>VI having more than Vew
>>720721710I don't need to spend 8 hours of prep work watching youtube tutorials and then another 100 hours of gameplay time before I can actually know whats going on in Civ.
I'm glad they tried to do something new at least, even if I really didn't like what they came up with.
>>720718983You know, put it that way, I can understand the logic behind it. The assumption is that players stop playing the game before they finish because the build up is more fun than the endgame, so let's split it up into multiple game phases to satisfy these ADHD zoomers into completing a full run. It ended up being a retarded change though
>>720720593No, its an end-game unit called Giant Death Robot
>>720718983As someone who leaves plenty of games unfinished because the journey is what ai enjoy rather than the conclusion why the fuck would they think ruining the journey is the solution?
I wish we could go back to the gravitas of Civ 4.
>>720720682They broke away and became a free city which got gobbled by a nearby city-state.
>>720718498Two bad games means in Civ case that the series hasn't been good for ten years.Remember that the dev cycle for games are at least 4 years this isn't the 90s.
I'd love a clean rework of Civ that returns to 2D isometric, with hex optional, infact, the entire game system optional. Want 5's city states? Toggle them on. Want the culture border? Turn it on. Don't want religions? Turn them off.Just a simple, clean working engine that runs on modern hardware, is very customisable, can be modded, and avoids the weird caricature/exaggerated toon look of later Civs. Real wonder videos too.
>>720722880Brainlet can't into districts lel
>>720724748God being in my mid 30s or early 40s when the next civ releases is going to be hell. We need go use lower fidelity graphics and focus on mechanical depth and intrude and churn out games every other year if not faster.
>>720724886>defending districts>calling others brainlet
>>720717723Let's be honest. How many times do you think you can create a shittier remake of a game and its ideas from forty years ago and expect it to be profitable? It has been done to death, imitated, diluted, simplified, repainted and rehashed. There is no more marrow in those old bones. Let it go.
>>720720682they just stopped playing because they don't want to play the outdated game in the series either
>>720719945i thought he threatened to kys the bait donations
>>720719945No he's still active on Xitter
