Was the PSP sold as a portable PS2?
Did it play any PS2 games?I remember it had PS1 Classics.
Nah it was primarily sold as a multimedia device. It had some games comparable to PS2 releases like Birth by Sleep and Peace Walker but in reality it wasn't as capable and the restricted controls meant a reduced scope in gameplay.
>>720725861It was a portable PS1 that had PS2 ports. And it was glorious, literally the last bastion of BLESSED Sony SOVL before the PS4 hit.
>>720725861No, not really.
>>720726037It had a lot of "ports" of ps2 games that were slightly tooled down to fit the hand held. Something like God of War or DBZ Budokai come to mind.
>>720725861PSP is basically a PS 1.5Vita is basically a PS 2.5 In terms of power that is. PSP is between a PS1 and PS2
>>720725861>PSP could literally play PS2 versions of games>DS struggled to play Mario 64 and wouldn't get Ocarina of Time until the 3DSWhat went wrong here
>>720725861No, it was sold as a portable multimedia device. This was right before smartphones were common, and old brick phones were kind of crap at multitasking, so you could watch movies, listen to music, and play games without needing to carry multiple devices.
it was portable ps1. the psn store on it sold some ps1 games including final fantasy 7. instead of playing cds it played mp3s. instead of playing fmvs it played mp4.
>>720726898It's much closer to the PS2 though, the PSP was easily Dreamcast-level in terms of power.
>>720727356its stronger than a ps1/n64 but weaker than a ps2/dreamcast. its like a ps1 pro but handheld edition.
>>720725861it is sold as a monster hunter machine
>>720726957nintendo completely gave up on horsepower after the n64 and gamecube both blew
>>720727132You could also browse the internet on it. It wasn't great, in fact, it was kind of crap, but it was slightly more convenient than lugging around a laptop.
Wtf is this question, are you like 12?
