>>720743726
then tf is /v/ supposed to do
talk about not popular games when they don't play games?
>>
>>720743726
I don't want to look cool, I don't even particularly want to be a contrarian, I just have high expectations from the big praise these games get and these expectations are never met
>>
>>720743726
Yes it does. Just like when I call an old game someone else is playing sovl because I'm too retarded to actually play it myself

As much as hating games that are popular makes one seem like a contrarian no-lifer, liking games simply on the basis of popularity shows a weaker constitution than any other demographic in general.

I would rather hold the opinion that someone who genuinely dislikes a game is a fair enough opinion to call it valid, than someone that likes a game that's been designed to be as likable as possible on the same playing field. One is showing personal opinion, the other is following a crowd and changing their views to suit.

The latter is just a ball of shit.

It's not about being cool it's about being better than you.

if I give a reason that's longer than 2 sentences, am I allowed?

silksong should have an easy mode, it's too hard
I don't like Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines because it's too problematic. I thought that i'd get decent female representation out of Jeannette and Therese, but that whole thing is covered in a poor representation of mental illness.
>listing a grievance
I think that the skill system in games like Starfield and Hogwarts Legacy detracts from the game experience. In Starfield's case, it actually locks convenience features and full game mechanics behind specific skill trees and then has the audacity to make it deep into them in top of it all ensuring that my best chance to try it at all is to either grind or just accept that I'll only get to try it later and I don't particularly like starfield much. Meanwhile, Hogwarts Legacy actually applies a "gamey" color coded phlegm to combat which you can only economically resolve by investing into those skills, which effectively railroads my progression on top of providing rather lackluster skills as a whole. I don't want to just do combat at Hogwarts

liking popular things just because they're popular doesn't make you cool or interesting either
