It makes sense for India to have a soulslike vidya. It's a lost, decayed kingdom full of hollowed undead. There's a conglomeration of cults and rituals existing there that have grown out of an ancient, once formal religious practice that is now completely distorted and corrupted and completely dominates social, intellectual and religious lifeThe metaphysics of Hinduism is so oppressive, nihilistic and pessimistic that the only renowned religious leader/founder who arose in India was characterized by his rejection of everything, but his movement could not even take root in his lands without succumbing and becoming identical in practice to the old. Buddhism only survived because countries far to the east found the techniques on emptying the mind valuable, because in India anyone with a real spiritual vision must resort to that in self-defense. Buddhist virtue comes down to plugging your senses to cope and try and escape Hindu metaphysics All sorts of sectarian cults for horrific deities that could be their own boss fights, such as Vishnu, Siva, and so on. Infinite pantheon, but all that is required is one recognizes the supremacy of the Brahmins and the sacredness of Brahmin traditions, which sounds like a religious institution straight out of Berserk or DS1. Almost like the pantheistic all-god Brahmin was contrived in order to capture all Hindus and claim them as an outgrowth. I can see the player fighting through the hordes of ignorant half-savages and slowly uncovering a grand conspiracy of the highbrow monotheists, who in conceit have accidentally unleashed demonic forces out on the worldThrough idolatry, superstition, etc there can be covenants for nature-worship, demon-worship, tree-worship, fetish-worship, etc. There's opportunities for NPCs of all types-- practical and grounded, quiescent and contemplative, esthetic and ceremonial, secluded hermits, even the odd foreign traveler who comes to the land and goes hollow espousing Schopenhauerian pessimism.
i have indian racism fatigue
I have chud fatigue
>>720754675brown isn't a race
>>720754675I don't get how it's Indian racism since there are Indian Muslims and Christians, atheists, etc but I digress, it's not important.Buddhists mapped out 108 possible ways of perception in order to stifle them and will face a wall in a cave for their entire lifespan to try and run away as a reaction to being part of the whirlpool that is the sanatana dharma. This reminds me of Bloodborne where too much insight or contact with a deity will cause a character to go mad. Wasting away in asceticism reminds me of hollows. The way the pilgrims stand with their arms outstretched above their heads towards objects of worship in ds3 reminds me of the surreal descriptions of Hindu asceticism. And of course there is the obvious corrupted church angle that exploits the laity which is famous in Berserk and Dark Souls like I mentioned earlier. All of the frightful/strange boss designs are already pre-thought out.I think it should be a cultural export. Someone should make the game.
>>720754224I'm unironically sold.
>>720754675Then clearly you've never had to interact with an actual Indian. If you did you'd be racist too.Bloodborne but you have to escape India and the Hindu religion sounds like a fun basis for a game.
>>720754224>Dung Eater gets his own gameNeat!
>>720756590>I don't get how it's Indian racism since there are Indian Muslims and Christians, atheists, etc but I digress, it's not important. What about Sikhs, you seem to be skipping over them?
>>720757063I've never played Elden Ring. I think Martin is a hack. Miyazaki isn't much better in terms of writing but it's clear they just took Martin's collaboration for clout purposes All I know with dung is that if Dark Souls has the dung pie, that's not terribly different to a puja ritual item. >>720758297The latin phrase et cetera, often abbreviated etc, is used at the end of a list to indicate there are other similar elements Literally the first time I'd heard about or seen a sikh in my life was the news of that trucker guy. I genuinely forgot.
>>720754224Not sure it would work. The more Indian the setting the less people will want to play.
>>720761273Like in the souls-series, people will want to play more just by macabre interest Imagine just MASSIVE Hindu temple areas full of abominable ritual sites and occasionally you have rooms with an NPC or an enemy like that picrel. You're mad if you think souls fans wouldn't obsess over it.
>>720761273
>>720762060I just think India's horror is a bit monotonous. Imagine a book describing every street as smelling like sour sweat and poo. Maybe if it was paced like Sekiro you could pull it off but it'd have to be short.
>>720762701You have just the same amount of variety as with any other game. Obvious slums and poison swamps aside, there's jungles, mountains, monolith architecture, natural caves, catacombs, temples, including surreal landscapes in which you can fight bosses, it would not be hard to pull this off >Imagine a book describing every street as smelling like sour sweat and pooWell good thing this is a hypothetical medieval RPG and not someone's travel diary from this week
