Fuck this is so good

Why couldn't the new Metroid just be more of this?

It's a really good game. Easily my gotta of that year.
>>
>>720758904
Because they outsourced the whole game to Indians who make shovelware for phones

Dread 2 minus EMMIs would be kino.

More Nintendo series should be doing this.

Is Metroid Prime good? Looked like a boring FPS desu

Dread is so great it’s underrated actually
>>

That's exactly what it is
>>
>>720762758
Yes it's very good. It's basically the classic Metroid experience expanded to 3D and as an FPS.

No. It’s an insult to 2D Metroid.
>>
>>720763251
yeah, it was Quake on a handheld in 2004, it was the first hero shooter too, the touchscreen controls offered mouse precision, the singleplayer though? it exists. one does not play Hunters for the campaign.
>>
fuck emmi tho

But I love single player, thanks anon, I'll skip that one

OP just happened to make the thread while they're asleep

Booting up Dread after playing Silksong felt so freeing. A game that has actual movement, thoughtful level design and puzzles. Like whoa, this genre doesn't have to suck.
>>
>>720764929
Metroid Dread is safe challenging desu
>>
>>720764929
>thoughtful level design
lol, what?
is this some sort of bot thread?

justify this right now.
also
>puzzles.
Dread does not have puzzles. Optional Shinespark shit isnt puzzles, else Silksong has puzzles and platforming in spades that isnt just "one room where you pogo above spikes" due to Mount Fay.

Some of you use words ao unintelligently.

I dont know why I couldn't say Ass Creed Open World games have puzzles because of some miniscule optional "shrine" like things in its shitty open world.
>>
>>720765163
I'm sorry for insulting your reddit bug game, that was maybe going too far.
>>
>>720765527
Retard. I dont even like Silksong, you obviously couldnt tell by my equivocation of the use of "puzzles" and thoughtful level design.
I just dont see anything any less worse about dread. Besides not being bloated like an open world game in 2D

Emmi and the ost were the only bad things about the game.
>>
>>720758904
what kind of fumes are you inhaling to believe this
seriously
just play am2r or zero mission and come back to metroid dread. immediately you will notice how trash of a game it is. daring of you to make this thread while silksong is still culturally relevant. even hollow knight mogs that shit game
>>
>>720766420
>hollow knight
I meant hollow shart but my post still stands
>>
>>720766015
It has sloped terrain. You can actually use super dash and shinespark to cover considerable distance uninterrupted. The entire game world is designed around upgrades you don't start with which fleshed out the levels and makes them not feel repetitive. In SS you're using your primary attack to do just about everything because it's epic and skillful bro.
>>
>>720765163
at least Dread has rewards for exploring
>>
>>720758904
It was completely mediocre. nobody would give a shit about this game without the brand name.
>>

Metroid is actually the niche one of its genre.

I need to replay this again such an amazing game

This and the recent Prince of Persia (Lost Crown) are really great, underrated metroidvanias.

Dread was fantastic, great environments, good soundtrack, the story was even decent for a metroid game too.
Prince of Persia the lost crown is so underrated too, lots of great platforming, the combat is pretty fun, it's difficult at times, not Silksong level difficult, but hard enough that many of the bosses will require a few tries to get them down especially the final boss.

and lost crown sold like shit, if you are actually a fan of metroidvanias and ignored this game fuck you, it was great and because it didn't sell well it will never get a sequel.

I do not trust the opinion of anyone that puts echoes above prime. It's that simple. Prime is perfection. Echoes isn't bad, but it's clearly not the same experience as Prime. Corruption is just... not bad but forgettable.
>>
>>720770157
>not Silksong level difficult
I found it more difficult on immortal but silksong is more frustrating. Helps that the controls in lost crown are so tight that you have full control of your character at all times and the game isn‘t designed to piss you off like silksong is
> if you are actually a fan of metroidvanias and ignored this game fuck you, it was great and because it didn't sell well it will never get a sequel.
I doubt you bought it at launch. I did and every thread i made was just full of shitposters and noone that actually played the game

>>
>>720770157
Sorry, but PoP is one of my favorite series and I'm not playing as a Wakandan. Get fucked.
>>
>>720770736
Not just bad, garbage level design. Prime 2 has garbage level design too, I talked about it once, but the interconnection is garbage till literally the "end of the game" where you barely need except for a forced fetch quest hunt.
>>
>>720770965
>>720770734
Brainrot, doesn't matter to me though, I enjoyed the game thoroughly and am happy to have played it, sucks that you're too brainwashed to play something good.
>>
>>720770736
Prime 1 has too much backtracking through magmoor. I liked Prime 2's modular approach much better.
>>
>>720771270
Prime 2 is a lot better, with many loops back to previous areas once an objective is complete.
>>
the atmosphere music and environments are fucking AWFUL in dread
so is the forced railroading and tutorial dialogue and cutscenes
every time the game locked me in a room and forced me to listen to a computer tell me where to go I wanted to kill myself
>>
>>720772765
It's just ugly. It's not about race even though I spoke about niggers in my post. I also skipped Biogun for the same reason. Pig protag wasn't cute
>>
>>720773051
You mean
>more convenient
The game has multiple moments where it expects you to backtrack retardedly all across the entire map arbitrarily when there are multiple new "points" accessed, making exploration a random trial and error endeavor of just checking every yellow door (for the sake of simplicity and example, I dont even remember if there are yellow doors in the game) across the map in hopes you get the new thing the game wants to give you

My memory on the game is fuzzy so I cant remember the specifics, but im pretty sure the power bomb has an EGREGIOUS backtrack that ironically opens up a lazy as fuck "loop" right afterwards that takes you right back to where you need to go.

Obviously the question is...why the fuck could they not have made a more elegant but less convenient shortcut that actually CUTS inbetween two areas, instead of just looping you right back to where you need to be with the most awkward elevator that makes no sense (was that shortcut an elevator? i dont even remember)
>>
>>720758904
Because fans of the Prime games obviously aren't going to be satisfied by 2D Metroid games, so Prime 4 is being made for them.

>>720758904
2D Metroid and 3D Metroid are basically two completely different series. Dread was fairly successful though so I wouldn't be shocked if Nintendo puts out another 2D game in a couple years.
>>
>>720763735
except the movement isnt fun.

it's the worst metroid game that isn't a meme (other, fed) metroid 1, or samus returns. laughably bad characterization, nonsensical plot, multiple retcons, dogshit map design that gives up and says "fuck it, here's teleporters", and the worst gimmick in the franchise (EMMI).

it's very easy though, which tends to be the deciding factor on how acclaimed a nintendo game is. there are some novel ideas like allowing the player to set up shine sparks to use against bosses, but there's way more bad than good here
>>
>>720782235
I don't know why it's so hard to design an interconnected world like Super Metroid again.

I've always thought 2D Metroid was massively superior to Prime to the point where it's comical. You go from this incredibly nice 2D adventure with interconnected maps, wonderful and tight movement, and extremely memorable encounter designs to fucking Prime which is slow and jank as shit with some of the worst platforming I've seen in a video game.

Can you fucking believe that shit? Nintendo fans played Prime back in 2002 and since they didn't play any other first person games in their life, they thought that fucking garbage was peak. These people were absolutely riveted by fucking scanning objects, holy shit man.
>>
>>720770358
Prime is a shit scanning sim

>>
>>720783604
I don't mind backtracking, but the way it works in prime is tedious af. Just back and forth down a hallway
