I don't understand the plot
>>

the plot is that i want to stuff lune's butthole with my weiner
>>
Verso is a fucking asshole and did everything wrong.
>>
>>720761114
Seemed pretty obvious although rather multifaceted, what didn't you understand?

Verso is a gigachad who **gaslit the party into genociding their hometown so that a family of toxic artists could maybe get over their bullshit.

This fails and he spends the entire 3rd act repenting for his manipulation only to do the exact same thing again.

It infodumps everything onto you in Act III. It's impossible to not understand it. I think that even if you played it in a language that you didn't understand that you would still be able to understand it, that's how explicitly the game lays everything out for even a retard to be able to understand. I think that how easy E33 is to understand has caused some pseudo intellectuals to mistakenly think that they are smart for being able to "piece together the puzzle" that is told to you very blatantly in Act III.

It’s praised more because the ending choice is probably the most philosophically interesting question seen in a game and so it has led to much discussion

>A young man died to save his retard sister in a fire
>Mom is obsessed with his VR chatroom due to grief, locked in 24/7 and even create a digital clone version of him + plus other family members, all immortal, to larp with (also made a bunch of human npcs)
>dad tried to get mom out but she refused, leading to the two fighting over admin right, causing the npc people to be deleted each year ingame
>another sister decided to sent in the retarded sis (now disfigured and mute) to help dad, cause why not, she was useless outside anyway
>retarded sis logged in but reborn as a npc, living another life inside the chatroom
>she now joined the npc expedition to kill mom admin avatar, cause they all have communication issue and thought she was deleting them
>clone brother got tired of this family antics and himself living as an immortal npc, so he helped the expedition to force mom out
>they succeed, mom out, dad deleted all the npcs, but retarded sister also refused to log out and wanted to stay, npc brother helped her for some reason (probably forced drama)
>they all beat the shit out of dad, so he basically gave up over his daughter retardation and left, hoping with some miracle she would get over her gaming addiction
>now npc brother remember his original purpose, so he tried shutting down the server, with retarded sis stopping him
>you choose which one to support in the final ending, the retarded addict or the suicidal npc

Thank you for confirming it is pseudo intellectuals.

It do be like that.
They gotta draw an entire container of Fell for it Again Awards for the entire cast.

good grief you're a retard

Then why is so much of the praise coming from /lit/bros? I’ve seen people who read a ton say they’ve never read anything better than E33.

Well what do you think is better anon?
>>
>>720768514
What book do I think is better written than E33? Pretty much any of them. Whether it's the prose itself or the narrative. I admit, though I think the narrative of E33 fails to seal the deal, I do think the "prose" is very good compared to other modern, more "quippy" video games, since the conversations are more realistic in E33 than many of its contemporaries.
>>
>>720766972
do you have a source for this, screenshots? the only thing I have seen is someone comparing this to Ulysses and getting ridiculed for it

>>720765412
I would say Joel's choice in TLOU ending is more interesting. E33's escapist question has already been done to death

Why did Aline paint her son to have a huge flopping cock?
>>
>>720765412
Not when Maelle option is so much worse. Like, I heard somewhere that the devs were half-split on what they would choose and that'a fucking insane to me.

>>720766230
Sounds reasonable, thanks anon

E33 is the Ulysses of video games.

Hmm it’s kinda hard to find old threads. Here’s someone who seems fairly well read comparing it to the greatest literary works:

"It was all a dream and then everyone woke up"
The kind of plot they tell you about as an example of bad writing in highschool.

>>720768514
I think a better question is why do YOU think E33 is better written than most books? Because if E33 was a book I feel it's narrative and characters would just be another YA fantasy Red Rising/Sanderson type book. Could you elaborate on the merits for which elevate it among the canon of human fiction ?

Dude named every philosopher he could manage instead of comparing it to the more typical French grief porn like Dumas. In case you've only watched adaptations of his works, the movies are always happy endings that cut out the entire last bit of the books.

You could compare it to Edmund Dantes finally realizing that exacting his revenge wouldn't fix anything or make him happy, so he says goodbye to Mercedes and sails off into the sunset with Haydee, knowing that the relationship between him and Mercedes has been irreparably broken by time and the unjust action of others.

Except then they added >>720770110

onto the end, and he's not sailing off into the sunset with Haydee, because he was inside of a drea-- err, painting the whole time, so he just leaves the painting instead and none of it ever happened except the part where he can't be with Mercedes.

That he is. Besides even if we entertained the idea of him being technically logically right he would still be on the wrong. Grief being an emotional state that can only be endured aside his ideas demand too big a sacrifice. Specially from the player. Maelle may be on the fence because she knew the real Verso and she probably has some love left for her toxic family and whatnot but for the player the only family it knows and cares about are the expedition members. The player experiences with the Dessendre family members are all near death encounters. Even if one could understand their motivations and feel sympathy that couldn´t possibly outweigh what one feels for the characters with whom it shared the journey.

Niel Druckmann ruined TLOU's ending by ruining all ambiguity and confirming that the fireflies could've made a cure at the end.
