This is significantly less resource intensive.Alan Wake 2 at 1080p on a 5090 runs at 118.5 FPS at max settings where most of the scene is path traced. Reflections, shadows, global illumination, even non-reflective surfaces rely on actual rays being bounced around.If you only go with rasterized effects, Alan Wake 2 runs at 196.5 FPS (same setup, resolution etc) and looks significantly better than Borderlands 4.THAT is the fucking problem. The way modern multiplat games are done there is little per platform optimization done outside of accounting for weird quirks of DX12 on PC and Xbox. It's not low level stuff that causes these issues, it's poor management and developers having no restraint or any common sense when designing the in-game world.
