How many game devs are still using their own engines, and not use UE4/UE5 slop?
>>720762715>now that's more like it>864p cuck resolution from 2002>frame generation>AI reconstruction>20 FPSthis is being shown as an example of success? This is a fucking pathetic result. Imagine how bad your engine needs to be to show this simple ugly scene with short-to-medium view length that you need two different types of AI assistance, and you still end up with bad FPS rates.Absolutely unbelievable.
You guys complain about performance about in house engines too like RE engine and lumonius engine
>>720762715Nintendo, CDPR, Bethesda, FromSoftware, Koei Tecmo, SEGA, Bamco, Ubisoft, and Capcom are the only ones I can think of that still use (or at least primarily uses) their own proprietary engines

I'm a big 7th gen enjoyer. I've been called a horder because I have a few Xbox 360s and PS3s. Just think they are neat. So this is fine and playable for me.However, it's pretty ridiculous we are here. In theory games should be improving generation by generation. So how the fuck are we at 2009 levels. With a worse framerate even. I'm low iq so I legitimately don't get it.
>>720764239You can add Valve, Remedy, id and Activision (for Call of Duty at least).
>>720762715it's mind blowing that they actually ported this game to ps4 and it runs ok and looks about the same, this gen is the worst since the atari generationshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grDdpojNknM
>>720762715ubisoft (anvil, snowdrop)
>>720762715 Still a surprising amount, honestly. Even with Epic trying to lock everyone into their neon asset-flipped gacha template generator, a lot of devs that want total control (or just hate licensing fees) stick with in-house. Anvil and Snowdrop are good calls, even if Ubisoft is chasing trends half the time. Then there's Capcom keeping RE Engine alive and slick, FromSoft's proprietary jank-tech that somehow produces GOTYs, and even Square Enix messing with their internal stuff again after burning Luminous. Makes you wonder how many silent middle-tier devs out there are still holding onto homebrew tech just to avoid the UE sprawl.
