Hornet hesitates in the Abyss because she doesn't want to kill Lace if she doesn't need to, because it would be like killing her past self. She wants to save her, but is scared of putting that into words, even in that last moment, because she isn't sure if she can promise it, in that land where Wishes promised are supposed to come true. Also, she's quick to anger and hates the idea of frivolities when she thinks things need to be more serious. At the same time, she's prideful and will put up money to prove her skill.
