Which game was better?
For infiltration? None of those two. Thief was always the best. Then Splinter Cell, then MGS2. MGS2 is more like a 3D Pacman with silent guns.
why are you guys pretending metal gear is the worst thing ever now? these threads are artificial as fuck.
>>720776953MGS2 wasnt as good as MGS1 and MGS3.
>>720778516i mean, true? i didn't like 2 either.
>>720778593It really needed a lot of QOL to make it better.
>>720776953>>720778516Both of you are faggots. MGS2 is infinitely more replayable than 1 and 3. Raiden controls like a dime. Dog tags, vr missions, alternative missions, snake tales…mgs2 was peak. Respectfully I hope you consider killing yourselves.
Splinter Cell. I might be biased as I played it as a kid and MGS2 years later but SC still beats MGS.
>>720776816thats not what op asked, dumbass >>720776652Splinter Cell is infinitely better, plays better in every way, better writing, better story, MGS is basically a cartoon or a anime. The new players reacting to MGS3 for being as fucking retarded as it is, is how ive always seen the franchise. No idea why the stupidity and cartoonish tone is celebrated when its in fact retarded. Splinter Cell takes itself reasonably serious without acting grimdark or over the top.
>>720778810Relax, Jesus. What an obnoxious attitude. I feel you on the VR Missions, though they could've been much longer - and I wasn't a fan of the shooting VRs myself. But the level design, story and characters weren't as impactful as they were in MGS1 and MGS3. I would even put PW over MGS2.
Chaos Theory > SC1 > Double Agent v1 > Pandora Tomorrow > Double Agent v2 > Blacklist > Conviction > Kojima trashThis is an objective rating that isn't up for debate
>>720779260/thread
>>720779260You’re correct that its not up for debate because you are factually wrong lmao. “Up is down” essentially summarizes your post.
splinter cell games are fucking boring. lol. /thread
>>720779260How do you put Conviction that low? I absolutely loved that game. Co-op was absolute god-tier.
>>720778516MGS1 is worse than MGS2
>>720779490>putting /thread at the end of your own post
>>720779490this desu
>>720779490yea but when compared to the absolute snoozefest that is metal gear they actually somehow end up being fun by comparison.
>>720776652I'm playing Splinter Cell right now and it's not really fun, very linear and the AI feels inconsistent
>>720779917nah.
>>720779587Because its a big departure from the series. On/off stealth, mark and execute removing gameplay and some more I've forgotten. Co-op was indeed great but co-op nearly always is fun.
>>720779635You think so? Due to gameplay mechanics?
>>720779943yup
>>720780068It's a lot of stuff. The elevator scene, the controls, the way the game separates environments from the tundra and the base, the atmosphere is also a little too uninviting and dry.
Can a kind anon please link that chaos theory overhaul mod from the other day?
>>720780064I feel you on that - maybe it is the rose-tinted glasses. I will say though - sometimes it's nice to play a game where you're playing as an absolute unstoppable menace. That game scratched that it, plus the co-op added to it.>>720780152Gotcha. I actually like the way the game is split into sections. It's what I was hoping to see the series return to with Ground Zero, though it did a complete depart with the cookie-cutter, endless repeated missions of MGSV.
Splinter Cell is nothing but Clancy spookwank, pretending they're super secret ultra patriotic badass operatorsMGS2 simply called those same people behind the Clancy name out for being the devious propaganda-pushing censorship-happy pencil-necked Jews with a God complex they are
>>720779260>placing DA v1 higher than DA v2You must be nuts. the xbox/ps2/gamecube version is the definitive double agent, the 360 version is trash.I wish I knew what they were thinking by removing the HUD in Double Agent v1. The entire game was about sticking to shadows and watching the light bar, but they removed it for a light on your shoulder.
>>720780256I remember seeing a thread for Enhanced SC, which is the first one.>>720780327Sure, Conviction is good for feeling like some monster. Blacklist is even better with the panther stuff. In that perspective, Conviction and Blacklist are good games.
>>720780737Oh man, I completely forgot about Blacklist. Good times playing that game too. Kinda now got an itch to play through them. Wonder how they hold up on the Steamdeck. They look like perfect in-bed games.
>>720780673DA v1 is the XBOX version right?
>>720780737thanks, you're right. playing enhanced SC right now :3
>>720780662true, I only played the first one but it's about Americans invading Georgia to "stop the evil dictator" and Azerbaijan to "save them from the evil Georgian spies" and it's played completely straight
>>720778885>plays betternow thats untrue. Its more "realistic" but in terms of gameplay, mgs2 was a much more fun experience.
>>720782184No it straight up is true thats why I said it. However rigid you think it is its better than how snake controls, Snake is like an inhuman android with stiff unnatural posture and movements. Same with Raiden. They walk and turn and move like fucking statues in the dumbest poses imaginable. I have no idea how you can say that and believe yourself.
>>720781693No.v1 was next gen (360 and PS3). v2 was xbox/ps2/gc. v2 is considered the better version of the game.there were cool set pieces in v1 (shanghei, exploring JBA base,), but the stealth sucked and mini-games in JBA base were kind of gay. Stealth in v2 was just like CT, with the noise and light meter, but v1 got rid of that to 'streamline' the HUD. Problem was that v1 had missions is broad daylight (Okhotsk, cruise ship, congo) which didn't gel with the gameplay. trust was different in v1 and v2. In v1, there were two bars and so you could have both NSA and JBA trust high, but v2 had one bar and to help one faction would negative affect your trust with the other faction.>>720782054it came out after 9/11. tons of pro-american propaganda was churned out back then. honestly, a lot of good games
>>720776652MGS2 because SC1's stealth is incredibly rigid and its forced combat sections are terrible
>>720776652the movement is mgs was excellent, for instance you could go prone and roll and do stuff like that, man a mix between the two, a realistic serious sam with snake's controls would be sick
>>720776652Splinter Cell was always the poor man's Metal Gear. Hideo Kojima was a genius who knew how to tell a compelling narrative about Americans and their corruption. Ubisoft didn't get that memo and instead decided to go full "America, Fuck Yeah!" with these propaganda ridden games. Of course, Tom Clancy only exploded in popularity after 9/11, where every American became some zealous patriot, feeding into these games like pigs to slop.
>>720776652The one that actually has stealth.
>>720776652As a series mgs has more good games but chaos theory is so good that its mogs whole metal gear solo
>>720783295I read a fucking book or watch a movie if i want a good story
>>720778975 is this AI?
>>720776652All 3 are king
>>720783846Based assassinations and espionage enjoyer.
>>720783492>shows stealth gameplay
>>720783492is the webm supposed to be making fun of MGS? cuz it just ends up looking cool as fuck.
>>720783790No.
>>720783492That skill...
