>According to VGC's Andy Robinson, leaker of MGS3 Remake and SH2 Remake back in 2021, Konami is also working on a "reimagining" of Castlevania >Reaffirmed development is still ongoing as of June 2025 >Said to be made internally with help from external Japanese studios >With Delta out and the Guy Savage minigame completely overhauled by PlatinumGames, some fans believe this is indicative of a genuine game in development, with Castlevania being a likely candidate for its gothic horror overhaul, taking place in a cemetery instead of a dilapidated warehouse, and featuring a boss encounter with a demon that laughs, teleports, and shoots fireballs in a barrage not unlike a certain Bible verse-quoting, mankind-pondering vampire, complete with climactic organ music Video for referencehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BchxkhsVvnUSo, Castlevania developed by Platinum. It worked for spinning off Metal Gear, right? I admit I was skeptical of the hearsay at first but that nigga is Dracula.
People still getting hyped for the idea of a Platinum game is very funny to me. These guys have been running on sheer good will for over a decade at this point.Having said that, I don't see anything wrong with this. And in fact, I'd want a reimagined Castlevania rather than yet another Metroidvania. The genre is seriously overexposed. Either do some reimagining or just make it like the classic games.
>>720783050look at how much effort they put into the guy savage minigame. and ng4 looks like it will be great
The original Guy Savage was cut from the MGS3 re-releases because it was a teaser for a cancelled game, similar to PT. So Delta bringing it back carries obvious implications. They could have easily skipped it and nobody would have been surprised, instead its way higher budget than the original Guy Savage, and made by an entirely different studio to boot, definitely sus
>>720783050>>720783591I see promise insofar as the idea and potential for execution, but I can't help but think putting Devil May Cry combos in Castlevania is kind of missing the point (even if Igarashi's 3D games basically did that already). But at the same time, the series has worn a bunch of different hats over the years, they could do virtually anything with it and it wouldn't be off-brand. >rather than yet another MetroidvaniaThe series has yet to adapt itself properly into this in 3D, so I'd personally like to see it. LoI tried but it was really half-baked, and CoD basically gave up on having any semblance of level design entirely and went all-in on systems.
>>720783050the platinum hate is extremely overblownthey made some really good games like bayonetta and w101 and made some pretty good games like madworld, nier and metal gear rising. they deserve some respect even though they put out a lot of trash. every Japanese studio is struggling right now.
>>720785801It's not Platinum hate, but at this point getting hyped for a game of theirs is silly. All those games you mentioned are over a decade old.
>>720787986imo bayonetta 3 was very good and im pretty sure kamiya had no involvement in the gameplay part of that game which
>>720783050Bayonetta 3 is at the very least a well made and competent game, even if you don't personally like it. Personally, I could see someone preferring Bayo 1 and 2, and obviously the story managed to be worse than those two, but the fundamental action and the amount of options you have in Bayo 3 regarding weapons is pretty insane. I'm not sure there's another action game that's ever been made that has the combat depth while also having so many unique (and also creative) weapons that all interact with enemies in different ways. Biggest downside is the actual enemies are the least interesting to engage with by far. Still though, I think it shows that just by virtue of in-house tools and engine alone, Platinum games are worth caring about, as the amount of unique interactions that they've built that shit up to be capable is genuinely leagues ahead of any other studio.
>>720782965In my opinion Castlevania should always have good level design, and combat alone should never be the draw of a Castlevania game.
>>720788869I agree but think well placed encounters and varied or nuanced enemy behaviors are valid constitutions of level design in a Castlevania game
