With this character's appointment as President of Nintendo, the thread of prophecy is severed. Restore a saved game to restore the weave of fate, or persist in the doomed world you have created.

This is wrong. Iwata was assassinated for the wiiu failure and was responsible for the switch before his murder. Who replaced him? Tow Japanese half Jews one a banker and the other an investor pleaser.

Why should I care about Shitwata?

He destroyed the traditional SNES, N64, GameCube era Nintendo and replaced it with the Wii/DS/Wii U era company that pursued only shovelware targetted at soccer moms and toddlers.

fuck shitwata

Absolutely false.

A serious, HD, proper 7th generation Nintendo console would've been very competitive.

Circa 2005-2009: Sony was floundering, and Microsoft was fucking up their good-will by selling consoles with severe hardware faults (the RROD fiasco).

If Nintendo had been there, selling solid hardware that was equal in power to PS3 and 360, they could have eclipsed one of the two major players.

Don't forget that the original Xbox only sold 2 million more than the GameCube. Nintendo was not far behind. They easily could have destroyed Microsoft.

Shitwata dismissed this possibility and focused on an underpowered waggleshitbox that targetted toddlers instead.

Microsoft repaired RROD for free, it wasn't a big deal reputation wise. The PS3's problems were ironed out in a few years too. Nintendo has shitty online infrastructure would've killed them even harder, if you didn't give a shit about nintendo games (this is a lot of people btw) then nintendo's hypothetical console wouldn't have a lot to offer you.

>Nintendo has shitty online infrastructure would've killed them even harder
And who was responsible for that infrastructure? Yup. Satoru Iwata.

Nintendo of America wanted to pursue online multiplayer aggressively as far back as 1999. It was Miyamoto and Iwata who blocked them from doing so.

>In 1999, an unnamed source at Nintendo of America said, "Networkability is at the top of the list for the new console."[4][5] referring to the N2000 prototype which would later become the GameCube. On August 28, 1999, Nintendo EAD general manager Shigeru Miyamoto stated that the Dolphin needed some type of network communication because it was becoming an important component of entertainment. However, he said that Nintendo did not have any true motive to become significantly involved in the internet business. He stated Nintendo has a responsibility to families so that parents can always feel secure with children playing Nintendo products, and went on to say that he did not think network capabilities would be a core component of their next console.[5]

>On February 9, 2000, Miyamoto said that he was interested in online gaming, but Nintendo would only get involved with it if they developed a unique approach to the idea, not because others were doing it.[6] At E3 2001, though demonstrating their networking accessories and Phantasy Star Online, Nintendo director and general manager Satoru Iwata stated Nintendo was confident enough with its offline strategy to not seriously explore the possibilities of online gaming. He said that Nintendo would build a network to support a worldwide audience if they could make it profitable, but he expressed doubts that online gaming would be a sustainable business model for the company, citing subscription costs as prohibitive at retaining a steady customer base.

>In a 2022 interview, Nintendo of America's former president Reggie Fils-Aimé said that Nintendo felt it excelled in local multiplayer experiences and wanted to spend time determining how to replicate those online. He added that cultural differences between Nintendo's regional branches slowed its adoption of online multiplayer, as the Japanese branch disagreed with the American and European ones over whether the infrastructure was worth investing in.

If they had tried to go with a high power console in the 7th gen they would have run right up against the same issue they did when they put out the Wii U just half a decade earlier. Their teams were not prepared whatsoever to develop games with that level of fidelity and they floundered for an entire five years before finally getting some footing.

A powerful console from Nintendo released in ~2006 would have had far too few first party games shipped, the games that did come out would have felt largely hollow and flat just like most Wii U games did, and third parties would have steered clear because Nintendo still had an awful reputation with them from all the burned bridges. It would have sold less than the Gamecube did and would have been the end of their home consoles forever.
