Should you use an OLED for gaming?
>>720792167I can't own one, cus I have the habit of leaving my computer on 24/7.
>>720792274Have you tried turning your monitor off when you are away ?
>>720792167>Spends a fortune getting expensive CPUs, GPUs and fancy parts just to damaged the two factors which all games use: Sound and Visuals. I just can't fathom it myself. If you have means to buy an OLED as well as a great sound system and haven't, you're just killing your own experience. I've got a shitty IPS, 4k IPS and 2k OLED because I wanted to experiment and I will never touch IPS again after this. >>720792274All OLEDs now come with pixel shift which stops burn in. They also have timers to turn themselves off. Both are also optional, all screens degrade with time even your "immortal" IPS screens color degrades over time. With just a year of use you've lost 5% of your brightness and a color shift will start.
>>720792167Who is the girl on the monitor?
>>720792167No. t. oled owner.>All OLEDs now come with pixel shift which stops burn in>stops burn inIt helps preventing it but if you have a static image with zones of the same color, it doesn't do shit.
>>720792380For some reason, complete darkness bothers me and it makes me have trouble sleeping. I have been doing it for years, so I guess it's a little late to fix this habit at this point.
>>720793008Get a lamp.
I only use my OLED for gaming and porn. If I'm not using it then I turn it off, or have a black image that opens up fullscreen until I move my mouse to that monitor.
>>720793265>have a black image that opens up fullscreen until I move my mouse to that monitor.A screensaver?
>>720792167I got one a few weeks back, and it's been pretty nice if an extremely incremental upgrade. Upgrading any real part like your CPU or GPU will improve your gaming experience more than a 15-25% improvement in visuals for ~$500-700That particular monitor had a mandatory pixel cleanup pretty frequently as a warning. I think it was something like every four hours which is pretty shit when you can find better monitors at the same pricepoint that only require it every 16 to 24hr
>>720793372No, a screensaver would make my LCD monitors go black too. I have mpv open up showing a pure black image. The config is setup so if I move my mouse over it, then it quits. This should work on MacOS and Windows, but I'm doing this on Linux. The problem is making sure that mpv opens up after a few seconds of inactivity. I have my computer set to run it after 10 seconds. Not sure what you'd without KDE Plasma (what I use).
>>720793516You can just set the background to black if this worries you so much. Or you know, make the screen turn off
>>720792167I only use my LG C2 for gaming and kino. For general use I have a 1440p IPS monitor.
>>720795189That doesn't work if you have windows open.
MiniLED but VA or IPS?
>Should you use an OLED for gaming?Yes.
>>720792541>damaged the two factors which all games use: Sound and Visuals. We solved this years ago. VA solved visual quality and sound has been solved by any old headphones.
>>720792167s
>>720795762Blooming is less noticeable on a VA.
>>720792274You have a current monitor. Dual setup, one for browsing, one for vidya.I don't work or browse on my OLED
>>720795762do not get a fucking VA
OLED is a complete scam.
you should only get an oled if you can fit it into your setup as a media only display. using an oled for static productivity work just doesn't make sense unless maybe you're a professional artist.
>>720793265>>>/vt/ranny
VA = high IQIPS = low IQ
>>720795762>VAno

I've got a 27 inch 1440p IPS, and was looking to get either a 32 inch 4k OLED or the LG 5k2k ultrawide. Was hoping to pick one up during black friday this year but with UK stock being the way it is things are looking bleak.
i’ve been playing on a 65 inch oled tv for many years. never looked back
>not using a CRTdo zoomers really
I have have an OLED TV, VA MiniLED TV and a VA MiniLED monitor, and while I could probably have a better visual experience with an OLED monitor it doesn't really bother me because the MiniLED monitor gets really bright and us really colorful anyway. With regards to TVs, OLED is good but my cheap ass Chinese MiniLED TV is just as good in general viewing. Great black levels, brightness, color volume etc.
No if you play any video game with static UI's, you're fucked.Unless buying a new monitor every 2 years isn't an issue for you.
>>720792696that;s a cartoon character, not a girl
>>720795762VA smearing is crazy unless you get the expensive shit
