It's just such a do-nothing game. Repetitive, boring missions. They expect you to dump dozens or hundreds of hours into a campaign but you experience 100% of the content in your first thirty minutes. Even mods barely help, the only value the game has now is as a VR experience.

You'd think the concept of running a giant robot PMC in an open world galaxy would be easy to develop content for but they swung and missed twice now.

That game is trash. They wanted to revive a genre because nostalgia. But that same nostalgia made them blind to how dogshit the gameplay actually was back then. So they did their best to emulate garbage, only to realize it was too simple and garbage. They couldn't change the fundamentals of the gameplay because nostalgia, so they just started adding more layers of shit to try and increase the pace and complexity to be suitable for modern audiences. The result was boring gameplay because the core gameplay was the same oversimplified 90's shit, but with lots of artificial convoluted bullshit and busywork making it a chore to do anything. So it's neither fun as a simple shooting game, nor as a complex simulation.

It'd be fine if the game gave you good variety of missions with things like scouting and recon but instead you just get endless wave-based meagrinders where the ability to move around is completely secondary to having more health than god.

They're not supposed to be used for direct attacks on heavier mechs, that's fine, but then they should give them other justifications to be around.

I also want my allies to keep up with me and the baby carriage builds they require to not be a constant drain on my wallet doesn't help.
