I have never played a resident evil game. Planning on playing the main games in release order, starting with the Ps1 originals. Is there anything I should know?
>>720793623Prepare for LudoKino.1 is still good but it's aged worst than the other classics. Still playable but by the time you play 2 OG and 3 OG you'll know. My very favorite of all time is 3 OG.CV is kino but short and buggy. A bit badly designed, too.4 sort of still wants to be a resident evil game but it betrayed the genre; it's good if you're open minded about it, and it's very kitschy and cheesy to its massive benefit. Play with the HD patch if you can. With 4, the games simply had to evolve. 5 and 6 turned into cover shooters and 6 is pretty bad, but you have to understand that they simply had to, in the CoD era.7 and 8 I'm currently playing but to me they don't feel like RE anymore. 7 is good though. The Remakes are very good but 3 Remake is a low point. 2 Remake is a very good game.I haven't played most of the spinoffs to really talk about them. Enjoy, anon.
>>720793623They're all kino, even 6. I'd recommend playing the OGs first and then the remakes. Basically play the games in release order.
>>720794570I was just gonna play the gamecube version of 4. Is the HD patch on PC better?>>720794829Yeah I always like to play the ogs first.
>>720793623They're pretty short games before 4 if you just want to go through them one time and move on. I'd recommend for RE1/REmake playing both Jill and Chris once, and for RE2 play Leon A/Claire B and Claire A/Leon B. Also, remember you don't have to shoot everything, you can run past enemies.
>>720793623you should know the best versions1 - Ultimate Director's Cut Hack or if you hate the door animations you can play Classic REbirth on PC but I think the door animations are good2 and 3 - GameCube or Classic REbirth for the same reason as 1Code Veronica - Fan translation of X for the Dreamcast4 - PC, change the settings to 30 fps and color filter 4, you can also play with the hd project mod if you want toNext Games - PC
>>720795097it's incredible. The Wii version works exactly the same as the GC version but with optional pointer support, and the Ada campaign, I'd recommend that. If you can run the PC version released in 2014 on steam, definitely play that one because the HD patch is incredible.
>>720793623>>720795185forgot to addif you want to play REmake and RE0, I'd recommend you to emulate the GC version because the remaster has many graphical downgrades
RE7 is terrible, don't play that one unless you like nu-metal, 2000s horror movie remakes, and Saw, then, if you like those things, the game is right up your alley.
>>720795185>>720795241thanks anon
>>720795289Still better than 6.
>>720795193Hmm thank you anon I just hit 4 in my personal playthroughs and was thinking of which version to emulate, I've only ever played the PS3 and PS4 versions to completion
>>720795497A wet fart is better than 6. Not a high bar to clear.
>>720793623Skip the "OG" tankshitRE1 with alternate controlsthen RE2 remakethen RE3 remakethen RE4 remakethen skip to RE7, RE8then watch YT videos of RE outbreak and maybe some RE movies tooNow you are ready for RE9 and will tank me.
Just do the exact opposite of what the retard above me said and you're good.
Any love for RE Survivor?

>>720795931No, I like playing the originals first. I don't mind antiquated controls, and I figure if it's good enough to get remade, it's still good enough to play.
>>720795931Tank controls were inferior by admission of Mikami, but do NOT skip the original games. The original games are more about resource management and strategically picking your fights than action and the fixed camera angles provide unique aesthetics.>>720796079Good, but incredibly short.
>>720793623For the PS1 originals....You can perform headshots with the shotgun if you aim up and fire when a zombie is close enough to you. Run around mashing X on everything, sometimes items are hidden in the environment or can be looted off corpses, multiple times. They are very replayable and incentivize beating the game quickly, but more importantly, play as both characters in RE1, and finish RE2 as one character to get a save file for the other in order to get the true ending. RE1 has 3 versions on PSX: OG, Director's Cut, and Director's Cut Dual Shock Edition. DX adds some different game modes, and DSE has the meme soundtrack, so pick your poison.
