Unreal Engine 5 is ....
*crashes*
>>720799337...Fucking shit
Will Timmy still blame other devs when some euro court fines his companies engines culpable for damages and he has to live on the streets after selling all his over leveraged assets?
>>720799337the most overrated and overused. I hope Valve will one day release Source 2 for commercial use.
>>720799402Works on my machine :^)
>>720799537SDK will release when HL3 does and at this point, is the prophesied rapture event of gaming that will save us from the evils of Timmy
>>720799337*precompiles shaders for 40 minutes*
>>720799337problematic but over-hated
>>720800030that's a good thing dumbass, not ideal but better than the alternative (stutter when you do anything 1st time)
>>720799337"The year is 2258. There are still no games running well on Unreal Engine 5."
>>720799337very real
poorfags stuck with last gen GPUs won't be able to buy games anyway, so it's ok.
>>720799337an incredibly complex engine primarily designed for cinematics with little documentation pushed by suits due to its all-purpose nature that is easy to learn but extremely difficult to master
>>720799337going in the jar
I think the only game I've tried that uses UE5 is Marvel Rivals, which looks marginally worse than Overwatch 2(character designs notwithstanding) with less physics but is like half as performant
>>720800630Hello fellow old fucker. I came into this thread for the same reason.
>>720800630>>720801573Same here.
>>720799337>GZDoom>Godot>The various Quake 1/2/3 engines>All open sourceWhy the fuck would you use proprietary shit when you have these?
>>720799692Don't Dota 2, CS2 and HLA already have SDKs?
>>720800550yeah it's a great thing that the engine is designed to make you wait for 2nd install after you already did first install - what excellent presentation for an entertainment product SO HIGH CLASS WOW
>>720799337Worse than Unity
>>720801686On-going support, simplicity, purchase-able (or free) features, crossporting, ect
>>720800936the way the suits treat the coders like they are commodities when the CEOs of the gaming companies are the ones who are the most easily replaceable - women turn society into clown world
>>720802023>Somehow blaming this on womenGet laid
>>720801724you can't make complete stand alone game with them, not like hl3 would change that much either, but you can make more with a singleplayer fps base game, maybe they could allow gamemods to have their own menu and etc. dota cs2 and hla launch everything from inside their menu, and the ability to have custom code is lacking in cs2 and hla, at least that what i know about it.But valve supposedly delegating their source 2 licensing to garry newman.
>>720800550yeah except it still stutters...
>>720799337... engine made for movies
>>720802142>But valve supposedly delegating their source 2 licensing to garry newman. Is that why Garry is trying to turn S&Box into Roblox 2.0? How the hell would that work with licensing since Roblox games are stuck within that ecosystem so I assume it's going to be the same for S&Box.
>>720800550>Precompiles for half an hour>Game still runs like crapThanks Tim!
>>720799337...is just another game engine in the list. There's no magic "make my game ugly/turn-off optimization" button. It's only and ONLY the devs.
>>720801573Hey I am not oldI am 28....
>>720799337Free.
>>720799337Only capable of rendering Bablyon-5 level graphics at a stable rate?
>>720799480i mean fortnite and valorant are on UE5 so theres half proof of it running competently (i don't know if that translates outside of cartoon graphics). unless those games themselves are proprietary forks and UE5 is just the skin.
>>720800030Why do people act suprised at this? Shaders needing to compile has been a thing since like dx9 and them compiling before is a good thing instead of doing it on the fly every time.
>>720802437Supposedly, games made as S&Box mods are stuck within an ecosystem called Steam. That's probably good enough for indie games.
