You didn't beat the game.

I Shitted HARD turds in the TOLET

that shit literally is a cheat code
>>
>>720802941
haven't found this yet. What's it do?
>>
I don't care, I'm not dealing with the retarded chargers in Putrid Pipes normally.
>>
>>720803615
Tacks
>>
>>720803615
falls on the ground and does damage to enemies that walk over it
it's biggest advantage is that you can bait charger into them and that it requires no aiming
they're not that good with poison imo, because they do their damage all together most of the time
>>
>>720802941
i used one of the crests that have downpogo and feel like i haven't beat the game either because of it
>>
>>720803693
How much damage does the poison actually do? I've used it with the trap and never noticed the ticks doing a lot but it's hard to tell
>>
>>720802941
Tacks aren't even that good. Who are you going to use them against? WALKING enemies? LOL. The only useful tools are those that let you deal with flying 2-damage enemies who swarm you as you're progressing through a platforming section over 2-damage spikes or lava pits.
>>
>>720803696
Reaper, my beloved...
>>
>>720803742
no idea, I think it's about the damage of a single attack spread across 3 ticks
figuring the damage out would require data mining of some sort
>>
>>720803696
Hunter gets upgraded you fucking retard
>>
>>720803742
no one knows anything
>>
>>720803818
A Russian horror story
>>
>>720803808
What did the hunter upgrade even do? Tried it for a bit and didn't notice much of a change
>>
>>720803696
feel free to play the game on extreme anal cancer mode
I'll just play on hard(normal down pogo)
>>
>>720803850
Gives you the focus ability. Little white bar fills on the left side of your crest display by hitting enemies and when it's full you do 2x damage. Resets when you get hit
Also you should go back to Eva whenever you fully unlock all the slots on any crest, if you haven't
>>
>>720803808
It needs upgrades to compete with other crests because it's not close otherwise
>>
>>720803771
Tacks melt bosses that stand on the ground.
>>
>>720803850
if you do a certain amount of attacks without getting hit back you start doing more damage,
then if you keep it up your damage increases again
this resets on taking damage or sitting at a bench
it's good if you're in the zone against a boss, or in beating the first phase of a boss that you know by heart

objectively speaking, it's probably no up long enough to be worth it, but I keep playing hunter in the hope of getting good enough
>>
>>720803771
they're a godsent for the High Halls 'boss fight', you just stack them before the final wave
>>
What are the best crests? Beast doesn't even seem worth checking out because of the weird-ass pogo
>>
>>720804038
>God Gamer tier:
Hunter (if you can never get hit)
Wanderer (parry god and getting in more hits)
>Gimmick tier
Architect (oh my endless health, oh my tools spam, oh my charge poke)
>Noob Friendly Tier
Reaper (ez pogo, big silk, long poke)
>>
>>720804038
I'm not all that far in but beast is great for tardraging down a boss when you're tired of learning its patterns. As for exploring it's complete ass since the pogo sucks for traversing and there isn't always an opportunity to lifesteal.
>>
>>720804038
>best
You're supposed to swap crests and talismans to better deal with your current objective, not use the same ones the entire game.
But, anyway, Wanderer and Reaper seem to be the better general all-purpose crests.
>>
>>720804159
>Hunter (if you can never get hit)
Surely everyone can hitless at least 50% of every boss fight, since it's almost required for beating it
>>
my crest: hunter
my skill: whichever I found last
my tools: I don't remember
yep, it's gaming time
>>
>>720804207
>You're supposed to swap crests and talismans to better deal with your current objective
*heavy's voice* NO!
>>
>>720804159
Hunter is shit even if you get hit. Wanderer with longnail out-dps it in any situation, yet again proving that Knight > Hornet
>>
>>720804159
Beastbros...
>>
>>720804270
Is it worth it to take that talisman that stops you from getting pushed back or does it not really matter for Wanderer
>>
>>720804038
Architect (the only charge attack worth using, 3 tool slots) > Wanderer (best overall moveset and twice as fast as other crests, best pogo) > Shaman (the only way to make spells viable, with longnail each slash covers half the screen) > Hunter (jack of all trades) > Witch (shitty gimmicky heal but iframes on running attack i guess) > Beast (just a gimmicky garbage)
>>
>>720804159
Isn't Shaman the true noob crest cause you can just hit enemies from the other side of the screen
I guess it's too late in the game to carry anyone
>>
>>720804215
it depends on the boss imo, some bosses like GMS you can just smack contantly and Hunter shits on them
other bosses I end up beating despite getting clippsed a few times
whenever the Godhome equivalent mode is out Hunter will become top tier when trying to do Radiant runs
but just going through the game for the first time? maybe it's up for 20% of the fight when you win
>>
>>720804317
Honestly i didn't notice that much diffeence, the knockback is not as extreme as in HK
>>
>>720804362
>3 tool slots
How much do you fucking niggers use tools? Who cares about tool slots, just hit shit with your sword man
>>
>>720804375
I haven't played around with Shaman yet, because I have no charms for it.
>>
>>720804419
>How much do you fucking niggers use tools
Tools are the only fun specials in the game. It's a shame they are related to the worst resource management system in the genre.
>>
Has anyone done something cool with the architect crest? Feels like it's too high of an upkeep especially if you're struggling on some boss where the runback doesn't get you many shards. Full buff build might be cool with the poison crest

>>
>>720804451
The best thing about the architect is the charge attack, not the tools. Charge attack is so strong it completely shuts down encounters. It's stronger than spells with Shaman crest despite being free. It's the only charge attack worth using in the game, the rest are overnerfed garbage that doesn't generate focus.
>>
>>720804484
Even Sekiro wasn't as dogshit as this. You could buy the emblems on every bonfire.
But they essentially have the same issues, yes
>>
>>720803742
A fully upgraded sword hit is 21 damage. A poison tick is 4 and one application does 2 ticks. Poison duration does not stack. It is a big increase in damage in the early to mid game and remains good in the endgame on tools that proc it multiple times, like flies and tacks.
>>
I just finished Act 1 yesterday. Do the runbacks get worse? I haven't had any truly horrible ones yet
>>
>>720804582
the bad runbacks are the Last Judge, the Corral Desert boss and the Bilewater boss.
That's it.
>>
>>720804475
If you mean overdosing on blue then yeah but I don't know if it's permanent or too powerful so haven't tried it myself in case I toddlerize the game. I'm enjoying my shitter rage at the moment so I'm avoiding things that feel too much like exploits or trivialize the game to the point I'd no longer be learning enemy patterns
>>
>>720804687
Yeah Last Judge annoyed me slightly which is why I asked if it gets worse than that

>>
>>720804687
Last Judge isn't even that bad once you figure out a path.

>>
One day people will pretend that they always believed the beast pogo and healing to be good, and that the only reason they didn't use it was the lack of blue slots.
>>
>>720804861
Name all the crests I'm allowed to use so I can claim I beat the game, please
>>
>>720804764
I never figured out the bypass for the first fly and I didn't think it was that bad because the rest is easy to run past.
The real offender in the game is the Bilewater boss, especially if you don't find the hidden bech, which I didn't before beating the boss.
I also cheesed the boss with tools and safespot abuse, which felt bad.

>>720802941
If only the normies played long enough to discover Tacks and Cogflies, they wouldn’t complain so much.

I guess there was a way to lower that very first cage so you can jump to the higher platform without going around the bottom?
>>
>>720803693
Great, except all the annoying enemies are flying
>>
>>720804952
No, if you fully send it with a sprint and jump off the edge of that platform below the fly, you can be up before he finishes spawning and ignore him. If you hesitate AT ALL you’ll mistime it and he’ll hit you. Just book it. Don’t release sprint from the second you enter that screen.

The runback is still rough though.
>>
>>720804952
nah, I've seen people sprint past it (under it), which is what I meant by 'bypass'
it sure feels like that cage should be possible to lower
>>
>>720805043
Eh after that fly it's just
>go up to platform
>pogo on judge
>float over to platform
>jump over and pogo on bell or the second fly if it came up
And the rest is platforming
>>720805061
Yeah it looks like a shortcut

What? You can break a big stalagtite that opens up a shortcut for you to get to the arena right before his room. The only """hard""" part of it is going through like 5 rounds of enemies (even then they're easy as fuck if you use your harpoon to gap close like a regular human being). Bilewater is the only true shitty runback.
>>
>>720805116
>the runback is bad? no way, you just have to do a fucking enemy gauntlet every time

>>
>>720805116

>>
>>720805116

>>
>>720802941

>>
Why the fuck does the charge attack not give you any silk? Who though this was a good idea? What even is the reasoning behind it? Balance my ass.
>>
>>720804861
If you willingly used the crest that comes pre-equipped with heavy blow and has the worst nail dps then you certainly did beat it.
>>
>>720805094
You don’t even have to get close enough to a judge to pogo, you can go up walls and turn around into that crevice on the upper left.

The hard part is the second half
>jump down, pray no wind
>two bell pogos above a worm trap into a wall kick before a spawned conchfly can get to you
>tight bell pogo into wall kick because you BARELY have the altitude to get the lower corner of the wall without clawline/faydown and the hover will fuck you at random due to the wind

You don’t tend to take damage from fucking it up, a miss just drops you down to run again, but when you’re in
>come on come on fuck off I just wanna fight Judge again
It tilts you so hard to choke that wall kick with a bad collision and have to run it back. That to me was the only obnoxious part of the runback, that little loop.
>>
>>720805267
>>jump down, pray no wind
I just activate my float cloak every single time I wanna pogo on a bell to make it more accurate
I'm not worried about losing 0.3 seconds to a float
>>
>>720805245
It should really give you more silk if you land it.
>>
>>720805252
It just feels so right to use it.

Does Reaper really do the same damage per hit as other crests? I know Wanderer has higher DPS if you can stay close enough because it can get off two hits in the time Reaper can get one, but I mean blow for blow. Surely all crests don’t do identical single strike damage?
>>
>>720805321
Oh also I guess I should mention, I was using Hunter crest and the diagonal pogo is great for platforming sections where you have to go really far horizontally
>>
>>720804375
noob can't live without heal, and you don't heal using shaman.
>>
>>720805267
NTA but everything after the fly didn't bother me much, even using beast crest while pogoing in the wind. I think as long as there's some reward in the runback, for instance roasary drops or decent shard yield, it becomes less grating.
>>
>>720805252
>description says it does "slow heavy blows"

I dont wanna hear shit about anyone not beating the game until theyve played Reaper. This thing is so much better than all the other crests.

You dont even need tools because you can just mash the attack button and you have full silk bar and maybe even land a critical.
>>
>>720802941
oh no! its yet another episode of
>I think videogames are replacements for real life achievements

I don't "beat" games, I don't need to fight against a toy, I just use it however I find fun, then move on the minute is no longer fun

there is no gamer credit whatsoever to be had, anywhere, but least of all here
>>
>>720805460
I mean, I’m still gonna use it because I love the way its pogo feels and I’m very accustomed to the free silk at this point. But yeah, kind of a dumb balance decision. In most games “slow and heavy” actually does HIGHER DPS than quick tappers just because of the higher cost of a single whiff. Granted Reaper’s not using a wind-up time or anything, but I’d still expect more damage per strike to be viable in a poke-based game.

Oh well. I’m still Reaper for life. Best crest, never changing.
>>
>>720805512
>Reaper
Fuck Wanderer. Wanderer is so damn good. It matches the speedy yet fragile playstyle Hornet has so well.
>>
>>720805512
In practice all of the crests have the same attack speed as Reaper most of the time because you're dealing with flying most of the time.
>>
>>720805567
You sounds mad, did some "gamers" undermined you "real life" achievements in the past or what??
>>
What are your go-to skills? I'm really enjoying the parry right now especially when facing groups of trash. Don't know if it works on bosses though
>>
>>720805629
But Reaper has more range which makes it easier to hit those niggers
>>
>>720805629
Wanderers attack speed is so fucked you can jush mash attack and if the opponent does anything youll trigger a parry. Seriously it utterly destroys the game.

>>720805714
It does but theyll probably dash out of it the damage. Its a bit of a waste. The AoE moves are better.
>>
>>720805589
>>720805460
Early datamining shows Reaper does 1.3x normal nail damage. So it’s definitely not as high DPS as Wanderer if you can get 2 hits in, or Evolved hunter if you can avoid damage. But it does thwack harder. Just not hard enough that it will feel like enemies “die in fewer hits” in most cases. But on bosses the pokes will add up faster.
>>
>>720805714
Rune Rage is the only one worth the opportunity cost. It misses a lot, but can deal absurd damage. Really good for clearing mob arenas. I cleared the last wave of High Halls by casting Rune Rage twice.
>>
>>720805838
>Early datamining shows Reaper does 1.3x normal nail damage
Sounds made up but I guess I'll go try it on the fatties before the double moss mother fight, those took about 10 hits so I should see a difference between reaper and wanderer

>>
Is there just nothing in Whiteward and Wormways? Do I need to enter the areas from another entrance to make them more than just one hallway?
>>
>>720806582
Find the key and corresponding door in Whiteward. Wormways is just a connecting tunnel, but there’s a wish in there (collecting plasium) and technically it also has the exit down to Wanderer’s Crest in addition to the main upward climb.
>>
>>720806582
Whiteward has a silk heart and a hidden bosswhile Wormway has a tool that gives you lifeblood hearts.

The only thing more obnoxious than "you didn't beat the game" fags are the ones who get SO fucking angry and defensive at the suggestion, basically proving the former right.

>>720805252
>>720805460
You have a fuckton of range and the easiest pogo stick, plus extra silk for more frequent heals
Ok you do half he DPS but it doesn't matter if you have safer distances and can heal right away in case you get hit somehow

My only gripe is that I don't understand why this is a defensive crest when everything about it suggests it should be an offensive one

I got the nail upgrade in Bellhart since the last time I tried that so unfortunately it wasn't quite 10 hits which makes the testing a bit more inaccurate
I beat pic related fatty several times
>Wanderer: 7 pogos
>Beast: 7 pogos (I want a medal for pogoing that guy in that tiny space)
>Reaper: 7 pogos
I didn't try Hunter because the focus damage would throw off the numbers
If Reaper did 1.3x damage I would have expected him to die in 7/1.3 = 5.39 pogos, so he should have died on the sixth pogo
Also, unrelated to that, we have to remember that Wanderer has a crit mechanic when you're at max silk so it shits out even more DPS
>>

>I’m getting this from someone who used cheat engine to display health bar values and compiled tables of attack damages, upgrade differences, etc.
I'm really curious how he's getting those number. NTA but I tested out melee damage with hunter (unfocused) reaper and wander on those big guys in abyss and for three he went down in exactly ten hits with regular slashes. I tried it again with flintslate (fire being a status ailments means it doesn't always proc on the first hit) and that averaged out to six hits for the kill on all three.
>>
>>720806863
I do too but generally I hate the dash attack with everything and I never want to do a dash attack
>>
Okay so I hear everyone talking about Act 3 being bullshit.
So what do you do BEFORE Act 3?
A few things I did
Complete all wishes in the 3 settlements (Bone Bottom, Bellhart, Songclave) - The whole yellow lesbian bug's questline - revive the robot - freed the green prince and interacted with him - got 2 upgrades for crests - DID NOT do the twisted child (may dupe file so I can do it later) - got double jump - did the fire area for the lantern - got gauge silkshot - did the queen egg delivery for the simp bug - explored all the map (minus hidden shit I don't know exists) - got all the fleas - got a house - sharpdart - rune rage - cross stitch - nail was upgraded with 2 oils - got plasmium vial - druid's eyes - claw mirror - longclaw - wreath of purity - maxed out tool pouch
I don't know if that's all there is to do because fuck me but that's most of it.
Also the fuck do I do with a Seeker's Soul?
>>
>>720807034
It's great for staying 100% safe when attacking big enemies who can't react fast like some minibosses
>>
>>720806796
Nah I think that’s pretty conclusive, I guess Reaper’s per hit damage is the same. What a shame. That means the slowest crest has the worst per-hit damage
>Hunter gets boost mechanic
>Wanderer gets crit mechanic
>Architect gets double hit mechanic
TC fix it. I won’t stop using Reaper, patch your game to make it justified plz.
>>
>>720807229
Reaper gets good range (on normal attacks and especially on the pogo) and extra silk. It's pretty good as is.

>>
>>720807212
seeker's soul is act 3 stuff
>>
>>720807364
I was gonna say the same, the hangtime on the pogo feels absolutely amazing
>>
>>720807360
It should at least be DPS competitive, which means more damage per hit.

Range is a fine trade off for speed. Being more committed is exchanged for hitting from a safer distance. You shouldn’t also lose DPS for that. That’s a lot to give up in exchange for range.
>>
>>720807212
Just make sure you do everything you want to do before entering act 3 otherwise its gonna be way more of a pain to do.

Seekers soul is for entering act 3, just go talk to the priest guy in songclave. And if you havent already kill the end boss before entering act 3.
>>
>>720807461
You're right in theory but I think more committed barely applies here. A Reaper whiff will almost never get you hit, it's not like it has insane endlag before you're allowed to move again, they just put an "artificial" delay before you're allowed to hit the button again
>>
I've been going with Hunter cause of the passive damage but this thread is gonna make me go back to Reaper again
You never forget your first love
>>
>>720807530
It’s less to do with getting whiff punished and more to do with missing an opportunity to strike the boss. Wanderer is position over timing: you can smack the button like a madman, but must be very careful to manage your own position relative to the boss to land hits without contact damage. Reaper is timing over position: you can hit from a more forgiving distance, but the slower attacks and inertia-killing pogo mean you have to time your taps well since a missed tap means totally missing your attack window.

I like that balance. Those two extremes with Hunter in the middle feel like a reasonable “playstyle spectrum”. I’m just saying they should also have similar DPS considerations:

>Wanderer gets crits so quick spamming yields higher damage over time due to random procs
>Hunter gets the damage stack so a moderate, even flow racks up additional damage
>Reaper should get single shot damage buffs to account for its more methodical play.

If it feels borked having one crest just get a flat damage buff, you could either
>only have the damage buff when it yields silk drops
Or
>give it a tipper hitbox so you do crit damage if you hit at the very outside of its melee range

Actually that latter seems like a really cool addition and would fit the Reaper playstyle. Someone mod that shit in.
>>
>>720807890
I see what you mean. I just don't think any bosses are hyper enough that the slower attack speed matters for actually hitting it
>>
>>720807360
>Damn fire is almost a 2x DPS?
Yeah it's pretty good. It's a damage buff mixed with a status aliment. The fire DoT helps a lot.
I think flintslate may actually be worse with poison because the fire procs faster and seems to do more damage per hit.
>>

There is a mod for boss HP and damage dealt, why the hell are you talking about hits to kill as measurement of damage?
https://rentry.org/silksongdamage
>>720808089
There is a fair share of turn-based bosses, but not to the point of them being common, unless you're bad then you'll interpret a lot of bosses as being turn-based when they're not.
>>
>>720808089
I'm fairly sure you can just use Cross Stitch against the fire whirls.
>>
>>720808437
while I am bad at the video game, I can fully understand the difference between attacks that have weird patterns and I'm just not gud enough to get close safely, and a screen-filling attack that I can't even dash through
>>720808489
I don't know what that is, which means it's niche enough that it doesn't count as a "haha just do this"
>>
>>720808437
>why the hell are you talking about hits to kill as measurement of damage

I ran with Hunter for most of the game, using Longclaw, Silkspeed Anklets, Volt Filament, Injector Band, Weighted Belt, Magnetite Dice, Silkshot (True), Flintslate, and Cross Stitch.

Longclaw and Silkspeed Anklets I wanted on every loadout.
Volt Filament increases the damage of Cross Stitch, which is an incredibly powerful defensive option.
Magnetite Dice and Weighted Belt are for utility because yellows suck.
Injector Bands keep me from getting whacked while binding.
Silkshot is so fucking good it's unreal. I love blasting shit with my magnum, especially those annoying enemies that play keep away or enter ten epoch-long riposte combos, like Reeds.
Flintslate is for when I need to hit the enemy harder with my needle.

Shit works out pretty well.

I feel like Hunter pogo has more iframes, and leaves you in better positioning after the bounce. Like, during the first Savage Beastfly fight, even when I was directly at the boss level, not above it, I could do a dive attack into its charge and not take damage.

by the time that you master a fight enough to finish it, tools are irrelevant. The whole game is "dodge dodge dodge.... okay I have a second to attack safely on this pattern!" repeat until the boss is dead. Damage and health is pretty irrelevant because boss health pools are so deep that there's little chance that you're just going to spam them down

I can see that. The way it hits things almost directly in front of you can be a good way to get out of a jam. It’s like what the Beast pogo wants to be without the awkward jump it starts out with—if it moved in a much narrower arc that went high and tight I think it would be better.

Still, I love pogoing repeatedly with the Hunter crest, going back and forth in a V-shape. So satisfying.

This is true for all pogos, they all have very generous hitboxes and usually give you iframes if you're hitting something. You notice it more on hunter cause it moves you towards what you're attacking
I have had plenty of situation where my hunter pogo clipped me right into a boss and I took damage, for example on last judge after he crashes down and the floor explodes

My biggest wish for DLC is a kanto-style return to Hallownest, where it’s roughly the same size as the prior game but changed in certain places. There would probably be small settlements scattered throughout like Pharloom now that the infection is gone, or maybe Hornet has to deal with another faction of cultists trying to establish a new order in the region under one of the old deities. Would be even better if some of the new cast follow her and you can find them in certain places in Hallownest.

Is this area a secret? Is it tied to act 3 because I can't break it down.

beat the two dancers, went to the left with all the water slides. Found a le epic secret (a box of shards), got bum rushed by a mob and I just wonder why I'm doing this to myself when it isn't fun. Exploring the map isn't fun. Every enemy is a sponge and/or flies. This game just feels like a tedious chore.
>>
You can really tell which people are just rushing through the game and didn't talk to a certain NPC in Bellhart after freeing it

Get more upgrades, tools, mask pieces. That area can be rough without the proper upgrades.
>>
>>720819391
or just stop bothering with the game altogether I guess. It's a shame, I wanted to like this game. But it feels like a step down in most regards.
>>
>>720816914
You can comeback late with more masks and nail upgrades/tools; By himself he is not that hard the issue are the prior arena fight and the ads as always.

The real issue with the game is that everything is that everything is locked behind a Path of Pain ite platforming challenge, it gets repetitive after a while.
>>
>>720819503
The game also teaches you wrong as a joke in act 1, there is never a "explore this and become vastly more powerful" moment, the biggest power boost is from following the main progression until you beat Widow
>>
>>720816914
Isn't there a way to cheese this guy?
>>
>>720819445
Nah, fuck it. I'm not having fun and didn't have fun for hours now. Game should've remained as HK DLC instead of being its own thing.
>>
>>720819746
I don't agree on this particular game but yeah man, drop a game whenever it stops being fun. There's literally thousands of other games to play, don't waste your time with some shit you don't like just because everyone tells you it's good
Hope you at least had a good time in act 1
>>
I used that other trap item that Hornet used in her second boss fight in HK and that alone already felt like cheating at times
>>
>>720820468
It does like one nail hit worth of damage when all its attacks hit, shit's terrible
>>

Decent moveset, gimmick is kinda just "win more"

Tied for best moveset in the game (only problem is speed), gimmick is somewhat useful
>Wanderer
Tied for best moveset in the game (only problem is size), gimmick is somewhat useful (slots suck ass though)

Would be a great moveset if not for that ass pogo, gimmick is really fun to do right but situational (need good windows)
>Witch
Really great moveset, gimmick is really fun to do right but situational (need good windows)
>Architect
Don't see many people talk about it, but I LOVE the moveset, even the wonky chargable pogo, gimmick is top tier cause tools are OP
>Shaman
Really great moveset, haven't tried enough with the spells to know how good the gimmick is, but I can see the potential fun of it

It's crazy how good all the crests are in their own ways. I hope they add even more for the DLC/content updates. I want one that gives us a Pinstress/Second Sentinel style with a "second needle" (maybe made out of silk or something) that's all about the basic attacks.

yeah but I can spam it and use it during exploration while retreating without having to aim, or on further attempts on gauntlets to deal a bunch of damage to whoever is going to spawn in at once
>>
>>720821176
No, I mean I don't see people talk about Architect's moveset.
Obviously everyone praises how strong it is with the tool spam. But I personally really love the drill attacks. They're like Wanderer in how narrow they are, but they're longer and multi-hit which just feels really nice (and i think helps with parrying? may be placebo). The charge attack is my favorite of all the charge attacks too, it does nutso damage in a really good area.
I tend to use it normally without tools for the early parts of boss fights and only break out the spam when in the final phases.
>>
>>720820992
>>720821176
No one brings up architect because they either havent reached it or is aware of how tedious it is given you have to actively engage in resource grinding if you fuck up against the bosses enough which are designed to cause fuck ups.

>>720822870
You are gimping yourself but not badly. Tools become kinda eh though after Last Judge because he forces you into awkward defensive positions and the others dont really present that problem. You still have to learn the boss patterns anyway or you will get fucked because hitting with tools does not give you back silk and it is also attatched to a resource pool.
>>
>>720822870
Using tools for annoying and tanky flying foes seems like the intended way to play.

Against bosses there's no shortcut, you still need to learn patterns at least somewhat good. These gauntlet fights are essentially solved by bursting down one or two foes with tools though

Silkeaters. So if you suck, die a lot and have trouble with corpse runs, you can have those as a back up. They ALSO give you silk even when you don't have a corpse. So if you need an emergency heal, Silkeater. If you think you need to hit a boss with a Silk skill to kill it. Silkeater.

The shortcut is in Graymoor. Should be easy to find out where.

It's not *that* bad. My problem with Groal as a boss is that he is too risky to engage with as much as I would like. I used the wall cling tool to hang in the top corner to avoid spit and dashed in for 2-3 hits when he inhaled. Spammed longpins when he started his alternate projectile attacks. I dunno. It was a little boring aside from the threat of a runback (which I had to do maybe ~5 times).
>>
>>720828695
I don't know what triggers him giving you a silkeater, but there is a courier quest to give him another silkeater egg to speed it up. Just check back after every so often and he should have one.

>>720813638
You're right, Widow is not the best fight in the game.
>>
>>720830032
you actually dont have to do that, thats just you being uninformed.
Before the boss battle there is a hidden room that stocks up your silk so you can get rid of the maggots not to mention that if you die once in the boss fight you have a cocon that fills up your entire silk in the bossroom to remove maggots.
The older i get the more i see how gamers are just stupid and angry at themselves almost all the games they bitch about provide them with solutions but they stupernly refuse to adabte or change anything in how they approach the situations even if the game literally spells it out for them.
>>
>>720831550
What attacks are you struggling with the most? Do you often get caught by the parry, the anti air or the shadow attacks?
For the parry you really have to condition yourself to jump out of it since you can dodge even the air parry with a double jump easily.
Avoiding the anti-air is challenging but it helps to understand when she's able to do it in the first place. When she does her long charge attack, she will do it twice in a row and at that point can either do it a third time or lead with the anti-air or aerial tendrils instead

>>720830342
t. Never used it. It grants timed immunity to maggots. You can fall into a puddle and hop out multiple times consequence-free. It will EVENTUALLY run out and need bench repair but it buys you way more than one error. It’s basically mandatory for the Groal runback.
>>
>>720832063
Basically the best way to avoid it is to only jump when you know what attack is coming up, so it's better to condition yourself to run away after an attack instead of jumping unless it's the more telegraphed sweeping attack.
And again, for the sweeping attack you always wanna count till two and be prepared for her to do the aerial as a mixup. I generally pogo her on the first and third sweep only to avoid the risk of being caught

I recently 100% the game and I've been thinking about the routing for the "beat the game in 5 hours" achievement
I would love to hear your opinion
Isn't the hardest part about beating the game Moorwing, Sister Splinter without thread storm, and the High Halls gauntlet? I've thought a lot about it and these 3 seem to be the main filter.
Moorwing can be skipped with fleas and it's probably worth since getting 5 is pretty quick and he doesn't drop a reward. That shouldn't even be much of a timeloss
The high halls gauntlet can probably be cheesed with tools if route you visit the architect (which you will since you need the harpoon), get the cogflies with some craftmetal and route in the pollip heart
But how do you easily and consistently defeat Sister Splinter without thread storm? I used that spell to instakill her minions. The boss itself is piss easy, but I don't see how it's reasonable to kill them on 5 base hearts
Maybe you could get the boomerang and pollip heart?
Did anyone deal with sister splinters minions in an alternative way?
And is there a fight I'm forgetting

I dont know if I can be bothered to do the 100% speedrun achievements but I want to beat steel soul and do the 5 hour one
>>
>>720828691
I’ve been feeling this so much. Is there a HK-style upgrade that shows you map completion percentage? Some of these are awful and it’s hard to know when you should give up wall-humping an area. I don’t want to resort to looking up a completed map, I don’t need to know WHERE the secrets are, I just want to know when to stop/keep looking.

Love it but the one thing I utterly hate about it is its weird drag-into animation it does for the down pogo attack, way WAY too often am I pogo'ing over something and it moves up from an animation change, or an attack, or I'm just cutting it close with the imput, and that little drag downward animation pulls me into the enemy for contact damage.
I get it's an effect to make it feel and look weighty but it FEELS LIKE SHIT.

No, the one in the Ruined Chapel is story related and you'll get to it in Act 3.

The Needolin door we're talking about is before even the Ruined Chapel. Literally start from the place the game started and look from there. You should find it no problem, it's kinda hard to miss the giant Weaver faced door.

14 bonus damage
https://rentry.org/silksongdamage
>>
>>720817098
It's like 2 damage whereas a fully upgraded nail swing is 21
The architects charged attack is 120 lol, same with a full thread storm. A full rune rage deals 132 (I'm not sure if the spell numbers are with or without the shamans crest, I just heard the numbers in a vaccum)
So even if the poison ticks 6 times it's basically nothing by the end game, it's really good for the early to mid game
It still deals a decent amount of damage if you spam tools though. 50 ticks of 2 is still 100 damage
But it's the tools themselves that kill bosses, make no mistake
>>
>>720833417
One of them requires you to go to an off-beaten path but can be found quite early
One requires you to return to an area with an upgrade.
However the third one is literally just there for grabs and although you can get the other two earlier, it's the one people generally find first

Crests are obtained by clearing Chapels, optional buildings you can enter (pressing up on a door). None are mandatory so if you’re pushing the game forward without exploring you won’t find a single one.

The most popular crests are
Reaper in Greymoor, easiest to find
Wanderer to the left of bone bottom, you access via the bottom exit of Wormways, itself an optional area
Architect get the chapel key from the NPC of the same name, requires owning enough tools before she’ll sell

Hornet will have to feed Lace silk from her spider pussy every day from the rest of their lives so it's pretty intimate

easiers way i have found is to fight the countlet until these two spawn and then just summon 4 poison cogflies and just hug the top left of the wall (they cant get you and the cogflies kill them for you or at least one of them)
>>
>>720834562
that's more than 50% damage increase dude. it's very insane with wanderer and might even go in [you didn't beat it] tier
>>
>>720834358
Beating the game
Just spam tools on one of them so you can fight 1 of them instead of 2. You can instakill one with tacks and that flying trap/cogflies
You can also prep with flintslate, flea brew, plasmium hearts and other bullshit before they spawn and just wail on one of them to quickly get it out of the way.
You could also just use two silk storms to fuck them up quickly
You can actually fight them both without cheese if you play disciplined and don't panic. It's beatable with just your nail. Just don't jump like a spastic and stay in place unless you have to dodge the explosion. Don't go in a corner and stay in the middle between them, it's actually easier despite what you might think
Also focus on being full hp before they spawn in by being less greedy in the last two waves
And most importantly, get good
>>
>>720821089
>Poison cogflies
Sorry anon, I'm afraid you did not beat the game.
>>
>>720834727
its nothing compared to pretty much half the tools and you only get very few uses and it only lasts for like 5 seconds.
You basically can only really use it on staggered enemies because in any other scenario you have to dodge around and jump around and after like two jumps or whatever the buff is gone
>>
People will tell you that you didnt beat the game because you used cogflies while they used flea brew, fractured mask, magnetic dice, save and quit, flintslate, plasmium hearts, and the wanderers crest

it is a shit boss because of the ads but with that being said there is a very easy way to cheese it (right side in the water just stay there and none of the attacks of the boss (except his appearing from the ground move but that is easily avoided) or ads will hit you, yes you get maggots but that doesnt matter when nothing can hit you)
>>
>>720835047

also if you win a lot against him his name changes
>>
>>720835047

90% of tools suck ass
Take pimpillos for example
They are super hidden and super expensive so surely they are good, right?

I did the 5 hour Speedrun. I mostly followed the steam guide you can find if you google about routes, though I did go back to Bone Bottom to buy the Rosary magnet so I could get all the ones I could on the way. Save up your rosaries and only buy benches that you really feel are necessary and the Bellways (helpful for later transitioning to the 100% speedrun). You won't need maps if you're following a guide/have the full map open in a tab.
You can buy 2 Craftmetal along the way and get 1 easily without losing any real time since it's on the path. With those you can get the Cogflies, and both buzzsaws from Twelfth Architect. Save up your rosaries and only buy benches that you really feel are necessary and the Bellways (helpful for later transitioning to the 100% speedrun). You won't need maps if you're following a guide/have the full map open in a tab.
I would suggest cheesing with the saves also. You lose so much time refighting bosses. I backed up my save before each boss and reset it if the boss took me more than 10 minutes of refighting.

For the bosses:
Don't forget to drop the rocks on Fourth Chorus in Phase 2 like I did. Takes stupid long to kill normally.
Moorwing isn't that bad. Just watch for the scream it does before it's little slicing move. If it screams, dash away for a second before going back in. Everything else can be safely avoided by just being in the air. To save on time (and just generally make things easier) get Reaper Crest on the way and go DIRECTLY to Moorwing after. Getting Reaper sets your respawn at the Chapel, so you'll be much closer for the runback.
Sister Splinter is honestly a pushover when you get used to it. her normal move shouldn't hit you unless you're out of space and you can make space easily with the silk spear. It also instakills the mobs, just gotta fall back, line them up and plow. No need to go for anything extra.
Trobbio is also hard with low health. Just have to learn to be super cautious whenever he throws out the balls. They can and will fuck you and do 2 damage on contact even.
The High Halls one is really rough. Get all you can ready for it. You just need to take it slow and learn each of the enemies. Your silk spear is huge for chunking down them if you can line them up since they'll go down in 1-2 hits after. For the big guys, remember the upper wall corners are safe spots. Weave in your attacks between it's attacks and watch for the jumps. If you have space, always go under them cause that's free damage time. For the double bit at the end, you may not have room so just go hide in the corner till they give you a chance to hop over with the line dash. You wanna get one of them down ASAP cause dealing with a single one is honestly easy once you learn the moves.

Also, once you get it done, it's very easy to transition it into your 100% speedrun. Just go to Mount Fay for the double jump, then start clearing the map from the ground up (get all the quests first from Songclave and Bone Bottom to save time).

Just watch out for the parry, don't pogo the second void dash and focus on dodging the ranged attacks. Her teleporting contact damage and aerial slash combo can be annoying but that's it really. The fight is very managable. I dont see how you can make it this far and struggle so much at the end

When he summons those air vents on the side, if you ride them all the way up, there's a rock with two exploding rocks on the sides. You have to ride each current to reach both sides, but if you take out the two exploding rocks the big rock falls on his head and instakills him.

>>720836005
Pretty sure the only thing they have that could possibly hit you in the upper right/left corners (like, literally climb the wall and be up in the top of those walls) is if they're directly below you and do their jump attack. Any distance back and the jump attack will arc shy of hitting that corner. The big explosion jump attack doesn't reach all the way up the wall, even if they land right at the edge of it.

>One update that just added a bunch of lifeblood stuff
>One update with a couple new bosses and story stuff (Grimm Troupe)
>One major update with boss rush including new versions of all the bosses and some totally new bosses and new endings

I think we'll get about the same in Silksong. I think the Steel Assassins which were clearly cut out entirely will be brought back as the "Grimm Troupe" update of the game. Something you can do will set them off and the this group of Steel Assassins will start showing up in certain spots to fight Hornet, possibly leading to some crazy NKG style fight with a Steel God or something.

These fetch quests really do feel out of place in a Hollow Knight game. Don't know why they thought it would be a good idea to implement those. Finally beat True Lace. This is the first time Ive beaten a game and felt 0 satisfaction. Infact I wish I used tools more. The entire game is just a 7/10. Beautiful art, music is pretty good, ruined by tedium and bossfights that want you to do a hitless 100% no hit filth mode. I really hate when a game forces you into a certain playstyle and the presence of options seems almost arbitrary. Once I hit Act 3 I feel the game really overstayed it's welcome. The memory bosses were not good either. Kahn was a joke only took me 2 tries, flower bitch was annoying but wall grabbing made it not bad. Ant bitch was the worst boss Ive seen in a metroidvania game by far. Then there was True Lace who was ok the first 2 phases but phase 3 was just too much. This is a series that will likely continue to get worse as the devs and playerbase froth at the mouths for just boss fights that are designed for no hit run speedrun trannies. I feel like to many games are focusing on bosses and nothing else and this game isn't helping that. Overall I'm glad to be done with it and make it to the true end. Reaper Crest was the most fun to play with by far but I ended up using Hunter at the end.
>>
>>720835192
>Pimpillo doesn't deal damage
It does like twice a fully upgraded nails worth of damage. The AoE is large enough to catch things on the ground and directly above them. Yes it is expensive, yes you don't get a lot of them, but these are your emergency "I'm being crowded" button. You use these things on something that doesn't want to give you space, so you don't have to aim them. Or you throw them into Groal's mouth and have it deal 4x nail hit and watch him kill himself.
>>
>>720837554
When Wanderer has enough silk for a heal, the ability activates and it gets a 5% chance every hit to crit for 3x damage. Because it attacks so fast, this means you will generally build up enough silk and get 2 crits per boss, as long as you aren't immediately spending it to heal.

Honestly the other crests should work the same way, Beast should get a passive life steal at full silk, even if the chance is only 1 in 10 hits. Reaper should generate silk orbs at full silk and they should stay around longer, so you want to make a lot, use silk skills and then go get them. They kind of dropped the ball with making those based on healing and going away either too quickly or when hit.
>>
>>720837147
