Can we have a RE4 Remake thread?Did it become a yearly replay for you? Do you prefer it over the original? What did you like/dislike about it?
>>720818706Yes, I replayed it a few weeks ago. I always wished mercenaries had more levels, depth, boss fights and co-op to it.
As long as denuvo is still there I'm not touching this dogshit with a 10 foot pole.
i couldnt finish it once, its not bad or anything but it just feels like they took something very unique and made it play like everything else
>>720818982There's no 3rd person game that feels like RE4 Remake.
>>720818706I prefer aiming in the original. Remake has this cone spread for most the guns, so things like the Re9 feel much much worse to use. But I like how it doesn't have QTEs which I hated in RE4 even when it was first released on the GCN.
>>720818706>What did you dislikeI can’t fuck chinese mommy Ada
>>720818706It’s objectively a good remake but I’m too autistically in love with the original to replay the remake 100 times like I have with the OG
>>720819368besides RE2 remake, RE3 remake, RE8 third person mode
Shit things:>can't order Ashley to stop anymore>crafting is unnecessary, there is never a good amount of whatever ammo for the weapon you truly prefer>upgrading capacity no longer gives you a free refill>parrying is so-so and too easy>exposed plagas popping out of heads are way less dangerous than in the original and are too easy to destroy>guns feel sluggish and way too slow to draw, fire and reload regardless of your upgrades, almost slowmotion slow in the early portion of the game>weighty long-winded animations for everything destroy the momentum of the original's gameplay loop>guns in general are considerably less fun to useCool things>more exploration, more optional rewards if you give a shit to backtrack>tone is considerably less disjointed from one area to the next compared to the OG>Ashley is a bit less annoying>gun range minigame is awesome
>>720819783>her new voice actressholy fucking shit
>>720820023super flat sounding, shame because her model is top tier and one of the best in all nu-RE games
I’m just happy they kept Ashley hot. Shame about the ballistics line change though
I thought it was pretty good
>>720818706>Did it become a yearly replay for you? Do you prefer it over the original? No. The pacing isn’t as good as in the original, the weapon upgrades are worse, it doesn’t feel as satisfying to kill enemies because of the weaker sound design and inconsistent enemy behavior (which fans like to call “realistic”), and Leon just feels sluggish overall. I had two decent playthroughs with some annoying moments, but I’ll stick to replaying the original
>>720818706For me the game is a perfect 10/10. I probably like the Wii version of the original better but they're different games. I've played both games a half dozen times each. That's not a lot but replaying games is rare for me.
>>720819971>gameplay loopYou can always just say "gamplay" instead of "gameplay loop." Literally means the same thing but adding "loop" makes it sound like you got your opinion from some zoomer youtube essay video.
>>720820873>your shitty preconceived notions are my fault and responsibilityGameplay and gameplay loop are not the same thing. Gameplay is the sum of all mechanics and aspects of the game. Gameplay loop consists of those few elements of all gameplay that you utilize on the average 20-30 seconds of the game
>>720820751I'm now on my second playthrough of the game and it feels a lot less gripping this time around. Pacing is definitely fucked, last hour leading towards Mendez fight is just a bunch of mini-bosses without any regular enemies to kill and slow corridors to break it up a little bit.
>>720821070“gameplay loop” is definitely a youtube essay writing faggot term though. You never heard shit like that in gen 6
I've played halfway through it again a few months ago
>>720818706>Do you prefer it over the original?Yes, the Ada DLC slightly edges it past the original for me.
>>720820873Your premise is fallacious. Your conclusion is not your own. That's the irony here. You're suggesting that anon sounds like they got their opinion from a YouTube video. Yet yours is an opinion I've seen repeated here like a fucking parrot on a tape recorder. You're wrong by the way. They aren't the same thing. The key word here is loop. It's a recursive process.
>>720818706I played the first two remakes last christmas, very comfy so saving 4 for this year’s holidays
>>720821483I'm 43 anon. I've heard that term before YouTube even existed. Suck it up.
>>720821787I’m 35 and don’t recall hearing it so what now
opinions on separate ways?
>>720821909I played it only once on the original and I liked how verticality was a thing and it changed the game around. Didnt bother with it in the remake desu. But then again I also don't give a shit about mercs in most RE games.
>>720818706i tried replaying for the 3rd time on hardcore after already having played it on assisted and standard, and quit at chapter 7 since they dont give you enough fucking ammo
>>720821909>>720822041It's fucking night and better than the original separate ways. Not even close.
>>720822132Hardcore seems harder than it really is, I had to re-try the Siege bit 4 or 5 times, but nothing got too hard.People online often forget that they equipped the case that increases the pesetas drops and then complain about rare ammo . Use knives on last enemies and try to go in for melee, you don't need to even get that close to trigger the animation.
>>720821909Amazing. One of the best DLCs period.
>>720821717God who the fuck talks like this? Get your head out of your ass. I didn't even read past your second sentence. No one ever said "gameplay loop" before zoomer youtube essays because the term "gameplay" sufficiently covered it. That anon was talking about the sluggish movement in RE4, there is nothing "loop" related. He's just talking about the literal gameplay.
>>720818706>What did you like/dislike about it?Pretty much every aspect of fighting felt good and I liked being able to thin the herd with stealth. I didn't like that a lot of what made guns special, especially with their exclusive upgrade, seemed to have been downgraded. They tried to make things more realistic and IMO that made them less fun. Still, REm4ke was a competent action game, I think they did a better job than they did with R3make but when the original was a revolutionary piece of work they should've brought their A-game and I think this is B+ at best.I expect the CV REmake to be better than RE9.
>>720818706My gf bought the Ada Wong red turtleneck dress and loved wearing it. I left her. I can’t even look at this game anymore. I’m fucking retarded
>>720823785It will be very interesting to see what atmosphere will CVmake have because the original has such a unique vibe that Dreamcast visuals more or less defined. That game also benefits greatly from its length that adds to its uniqueness within the RE series. I hated cut content in 2 and 3, here they really need to be careful with what they trim.It also has potential to be the most improved RE game by its remake due to horrible script and acting. Original somehow even makes Claire a lot more retarded than in 2 despite the same VA
>>720824691The CV remake better keep "fa-thurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr"
>>720819368it's temu last of us 2
>>720826534https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODTXV2M7ljoIt's more important that they keep this.
>>720818706It's a sidegrade to the original and now I can't play either of them without wondering if I'd rather be playing the other one insteadSeparate Ways is cool though
I tried to replay it recently and can't get out of the first village
>>720818706It's the only RE game I've played since the focus seems to be more on the action than on the horror I'm an horror pussyI really enjoyed it, very fun, not many (planed) jumpscares. Didn't do the DLC yet, is it really good if you don't care about the story?I kinda want to replay this game but randomized, so I'm not sure getting the DLC (even discounted) is super worth.
>>720826975It is last of us 2 if last of us 2 had actual gameplay, replay value, and wasn't fucking woke cringe.
>>720818706>Did it become a yearly replay for you?No, but few games do. I keep it installed in case the fancy ever strikes me. >Do you prefer it over the original?Overall, yes. The original is still phenomenal and does some things better, but mostly RE4R is an improvement in any way. I like that they're different experiences so one doesn't replace the other, but RE4R is just an overall better game. It should go without saying since it had years to improve on the formula, but obviously the other Remakes show that isn't a given. >What did you like/dislike about it?Resources/Gunpowder quickly become an annoying burden that turns the inventory mini-game from a fun diversion to a constant minor frustration since you're fiddling around a lot more than in the OG. They also fucked up the inventory size. The case is smaller and now has an uneven number of slots on the grid, meaning it's harder to neatly fit items into your case. This and the first point play off of each other to make inventory management a much bigger pain than the OG. I miss the actual body horror transformations; not sure what it is about RE Engine that can't handle them, but in all of the RE games on it, they always cut away or have the boss/monster fall into a pit, then emerge in their new form. RE4 did a lot of nasty transformations and those are all gone, which sucks. I adore being able to store my weapons so I can max out everything and feel like I have a proper NG+. I love the keychain system letting you do minor tweaks to your playstyle throughout the game. I love the customization aspects, though I wish there were more actual costumes. The visuals are incredible. I'm torn on Saddler being an actual religious zealot now. On the one hand, the way it came off to me with the journal entries is that the parasite influenced him to become more fanatical, which is cool. On the other, him being a cartoon war monger villain was cheesy in a way that I really liked.
>>720827698Really wonder how they'd handle that character. As long as they recognize that he's not properly trans I think it'll be okay, but I worry they'll try to be too "mindful" with him and make him a lot more sympathetic. This is a Norman Bates situation; no need to be sensitive.
>>720821754Is RE3R as bad as people make it out to be? I keep procrastinating on it.
>>720830103From someone who quite likes the original... it's not that bad if you go in with lowered expectations. The initial areas feel sandboxy and way more open than anything in 2R/4R but then it hits you how short the game is. I enjoyed the atmosphere.
Played the remake version of Separate Ways for the first time last week. It was fun. Kung fu moves on zombies never gets old. My one criticism might be that Ada's characterisation seams weak in this game. She comes across like she's bored all the time and very nonchalant about everything.
>>720818706demake. The ada mission is ok, i need ada abszuri
>>720830103It's acceptable given to current state of the industry. The initial awe from the RE2 remake being already gone, RE3 remake struggles more. It's incredibly short, but so is RE3 if you play without door animations and know the game by heart. I'd say the single worst part is nearly every Nemesis encounter is on-rails scripted and battling him does not drop unique weapon parts. Go into it as if it was a 20€ DLC expansion and you'll walk away satisfied.
>>720821901You looking for a new message to repeat like a 90s cassette answering machine? Think for yourself. You can still do that, right?
>>720823141Did you puff up your fat face to type that? Haha.
>>720831080Separate Ways is in every way an improvement over the original.
>>720818706Yeah I like it and i'm right around the point where i'd want to play it again. But I recently played the dead space remake and it make me appreciate RE4 remake a lot more. Dead Space Remake feels completely unnecessary, and I had a tough time telling what was added or new about it that justified its existence. The original version held up just about as well as the remake does. But RE4 remake feels like a different experience which means I have two great games to go back and play and it doesn't feel like i'm compromising with either of them.
I can't believe there are actual contrarians who think that Ada in the remake isn't hot as hell.
>>720818960Based.
>>720833347She looks nice but the actress dropped the ball
>>720833347She is but her voice actress is horrible
