ITT: We discuss how to save the Splinter Cell series

First off, are stealth games even a thing anymore? Or would it have to be a third person shooter/semi open world/soft RPG character and items leveling/game with SOME stealth mechanic?

Also, just reboot the franchise. Count the first game up until double agent and forget the rest of the games. Keep all the key events canon, but move the timeline up a bit so Sam isnt an 80 yo geezer. Sams also too old for the game, so make him the new Lambert (guy giving you orders) and introduce a new character that you play as. This would be a great way to pass the torch.
>>
Kojima should direct it
>>
Stealth from major studios is dead. The only ones coming out are indies or AA at best.

Considering the success of Delta's recent release I'd say Splinter Cell has a chance if they don't fuck up the remasters/remake. And if you do make a new Splinter Cell with Sam as the new Lambert you should be able to make your own Echelon Agent in an advanced character creator. The two genders have 4 fully voiced packs each so the story isn't in total silence whenever Sam talks to you via comms.

Splinter Cell dropping off the map is the reason there's no stealth games anymore because it was the genre's flagship. we just need a typical linear installment where Sam appears late in the story either as an ally or the final boss.

>you should be able to make your own Echelon Agent in an advanced character creator
How soulless.
Anyway, just make CT with bigger levels, more exploration and make the agent more acrobatic.
>>

No I don't want troons nor communist propaganda in the game
>>
>>720861585
Part of the appeal of Splinter Cell was how grounded and patient it was compared to the zanny retarded shit in Metal Gear Solid
>>
>>720862456
Just have Sam be the new Lambert.
>>
>>720862727
that doesn't seem like something he'd want to do, his character is somewhat sarcastic and had the option to pursue the Lambert route long ago but never took it.

Stealth games are an inherently stupid genre that only ever gained popularity because of secondary elements. Such as the retardedly brilliant writing in Metal Gear, the graphics and AI in Splinter Cell.
>>
>>720863090
You are a retard.
Stealth games are one of the purest forms of power fantasy.
>>
>>720863090
Stealth games are all about patients and ambience. Low impulse/low attention span zoomers cannot play them because they need constant face paced action

The first and the most important is that Michael Ironside is Sam Fisher, i don't give a fuck for the performer as long as Ironside is the voice
>>
>>720861546
They should make a prequel

No. Splinter Cell stories are far more realistic to the point that some it already happened in real life politics. For example: Masse Kernels in Splinter Cell is like Israel's Pegasus.

>Fisher, we sent you in Alaska for a very important mission.
>You must infiltrate this complex and sabotage the "Metal Gear", a new weapon of mass destruction which can't fall into the hands of the terrorists.
>The CIA is already there and they don't know about your infiltration.
>If you get caught, the mission is over!

I've heard that Splinter Cell games on Xbox/PC and PS2/GC have their own exclusive contents. Is it worth playing both versions for these content?
>>
>>720869920
I think the PS2/GC versions are just cut down versions of PC/Xbox. The biggest difference Double Agent, PS2/Xbox are different games from PC/PS3/360, with the former being more like Chaos Theory, thus the better games.
>>
>>720868727
I liked the idea of smaller nations turning to cyber warfare as a way to even the odds. Chaos Theory starts with some marxist rebel group in Peru kidnapping a UN cyber warfaare expert in order to gain his knowledge. Grim even says something like "its like if Che Guevara kidnapped Oppenheimer"

The first three games all built upon each other from this which was really good.

Just make Blacklist 2. It's literally the best one.

>First off, are stealth games even a thing anymore?
Last game I played was Left Alive, you can't exactly ghost it because of ambushes and boss fights but overall still solid for stealth. It's almost impossible to kill anything and if you do kill, eventually they'll start spawning more as a reminder you're not supposed to do so.
And it got god awful reviews because all the journos played it as a TPS, cried about dying and how it was too hard to kill everything.
So yea I think stealth games are dead and can't be revived because retards can't play them.

let me guess
black lady steals the protagonist role

>First off, are stealth games even a thing anymore?
No. Which makes it incredibly hard to bring back since Hideo Kojima retired them.
>would it have to be a third person shooter/semi open world/soft RPG character
Unfortunately I think that's the approach they will go with if it ever gets revived, making it Ass Creed tier which will mean bad design. If you mean semi open world as in some kind of already built out bigger than normal map size world but it acts more like a hub between missions that could work out fine if it was implemented correctly, having to infiltrate different parts of it's hub zone like design is the only way that can ever turn out good. It's just it needs to be a tightly designed area, Hideo Kojima for example made a well designed map for Camp Omega in Ground Zeroes but then when it came to the Phantom Pain none of the same attention to design was seen anywhere in the open world's map. There were some okay locations, but the overall design would have improved if it had just been singular more open maps like Camp Omega.
It should be map focused and singular level focused design above all. That is my opinion that Ubisoft cannot continue to go back to what they're comfortable with. This game should be treated differently from anything they'll ever do with Ghost Recon.

First off aside they need to get right is the movement. We need Closer Than Ever to be more evolved than Chaos Theory did it. We need this idea of tip toeing around to take centre stage or they got it wrong. Secondly they need to bring back shadow intensity and sound meter based gameplay and burry what they did in Blacklist as a negative and make sure it NEVER comes back. If Ubisoft spit in our face about how this game should play then it's better off dead. It hurts to say that as an SC fan about how picky I have to be. But it's because i consider the first 4 games as a model that should be always followed. Yes even Double Agent V2 because it still got it right.
>>
>>720872740
Is that game worth playing on it's own merits? I feel like the negative reviews came from MGS fanboys

Let it die.
Sam is almost 70. If Ubisoft does a reboot of the series it will be some terrible cash-grab with black woman/girl boss protagonist with some shitty online mode with micro transactions. Sam Fischer, like Snake and agent 47 are relics of the cold war, their one-man infiltration schtick is no longer needed in the 2020s.

MGS fanboys bitch because it mogged their game in actual game design, whilst being an actual competitor to Metal Gear. So that's what stings for them the most. That Ubisoft outdid Konami once upon a time ago.
