If you have fond memories of playing with a shoebox full of random commons you and your friends had in 2005 then the game doesn't really resemble that any more. It kind of never did, given that extremely limited card pools tend to distort the "core gameplay" of any card game (See also Yugioh's own Common Charity, Master Duel's N/R format, MtG's various limited formats, etc) but the informational burden players are expected to bear is pretty large. I imagine if I showed someone GOAT control, Panda Burn, or TeleDAD they'd get the core idea pretty quickly, but I'm not sure they'd be able to identify what exactly a Maliss or Ryzeal deck is actually doing.I think it's a fun game, but if you played it as a kid it's a very different kind of fun. I've heard it described as the Marvel VS Capcom 3 of card games and I find this comparison apt. It's a very intense type of game, and that can be rewarding for some but too stressful for others.

It's lower mana, it curves into itself with a 3 and then 4, it takes 12 cards and slots perfectly into a control deck shell. and it was also powercrept out of relevancy after being unbanned after 8 years
