There are some challenges you actually can't beat unless you're on default settings like one where you're supposed to land from a roof onto another roof, but you keep breaking your legs every time and get sent back to the start unless you have the babymode unlimited fall height on.

i prefer to turn on up for pump it has a smoother animation than tapping grab. it also has some use for making smoother / realistic animations since it lets you crouch down without actually getting into the setup position.
but you just tap it steadily whilst entering a transition up when entering a ramp, or at the apex when you start coming back down exiting a ramp. it's kinda like thrusting your hips into the trannys.
probably should just use some pump assist anyways, i think its pretty scuffed rn. sometimes you can barely keep momentum in a half-pipe even when pumping, and sometimes landing sketchy gives you a bigger speed boost than anything in the game.

it's truly just skateboarding but in fortnite world, it's amazing how clean and proper everything is. add on top of that i have city fucking councilmembers talking to me about stuff, and the tone is just way off.

skating feels good, some fun lines to find. turning off in-game radio and blasting some Bolt Thrower is a lot of fun.

i don't have the worlds greatest computer (i7-11 + 3070) but man oh man is my cpu running damn near max. i know it's likely due to needing to process other online players, and my temps/usage goes down when no one's around, but man lel shit sounds like an airplane when i play.

NTA but I've been telling everyone turn VO volume and "Gameplay Vee Comments" off in sound options.
Exit all menus then press left on the dpad to open the social menu, go to settings and turn quick drop objects to only show from friends and party by default. If something someone put down looks cool you can walk up to it and hold left stick to enable it.
Turning flick-it sensitivity down seems popular.
Lastly, the vid below is really good about teaching all the ins and outs of the trick system, including new features like leaning in grinds, pre-winding spins, wallies, slappies, etc.

the vert skating is shite. even with pumping you lose so much speed in transition, and you stick to the walls in a really unnatural way which makes it impossible to do any good hard carves to keep momentum as you turn.
I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get consistent pop out of ollies, sometimes I can be full crouch and really snap with the flick and my guy gets maybe 3 inches off the ground, other times he'll get enough clearance to clear a mountain with the same windup and flick. The old games weren't like that.
four kicks to get up to speed is also dumb, I skate and it only takes me 2-3 to get up to speed.
the person who decided to add that annoying little AI assistant should be executed, it's the most anti-cool thing imaginable. just give me a camera guy commentating on my tricks and laughing at me when I slam, it's not hard.
but above all of this, is the tone. holy fucking hell the tone. skaters are supposed to be punk outlaws, engaging in vandalism and trespassing and destruction of public+private property. Meanwhile in-game you have city politicians and major media companies all acting like your character's best buddy. it's like they took that "everything is awesome" song from the Lego Movie literally and copied it, rather than clocking the satire of it. I don't use the term 'soulless' often, but I will here. this game is SOULLESS. There was not a single skater in the design room, I can tell. it feels like what a female 36 year old sociology major thinks skateboarding is like. or, should be like.

that being said, the character creator lets you put some fat tits and arse on the females, once you figure out which one of the bodies is supposed to be female. and they have no problem with you enjoying it either, because sports bras and leggings are clothing options.

I don't think there's any particular trick to it. Try just landing flips on the ground first. All I do is press A, pull the right trigger, and then it'll stop flipping when my character is upright so he'll land on his feet. Then you just need to land on the board and it'll automatically get back on it.

Same, I climbed the tallest building and only found one music track, mission at the top was locked for me.
There also needs to be a way to save your own set of multiple markers and not lose them so you can go to your favorite spots anytime.

it feels like the map was created around needing players to quick drop a bunch of shit to make it fun. there's some nice spots sprinkled throughout, but just so much fucking shit feels like it was not made for regular skating.

I was having issues with replay at first but then I swapped the game from my HDD onto my SSD and I've had no issues since. The game seems to rely on SSD load speeds a lot better too. That might be the problem you're having.

You need to hone your skater eyes anon. Kinda joking but also kinda not.. I personally find there's a decent amount of street spots around. It's definitely more sparse and open then it should be, one of the weaker maps of the series. I still have fun with it, got about 80 hours the last month and still look enjoying it. I am hoping season 1 starts in the first week of October though.
It's like if Grindline Skateparks designed a city but didn't quite have the budget for enough obstacles per plaza. I really hope that suburban looking area to the north drops within a few months and has some more interesting terrain.
Been busy with work the last couple days but I'll post more clips soon to show off cool grounded spots and some of the new tricks/mechanics. The little time I've had I've just been wrestling with the replay editor and OBS trying to find a balance for quality and file size.

no, people are right. The map is bad. There are ledges and benches everywhere clocked by vending machines and trash cans. You can't move these items anymore so those spots are just fucked. There are natural grass gaps but they have janky ass bushes that block the entire camera when near them. there are large empty flat plazas that had Manny pads and fountains and shit in previous versions, now just an empty flat bullshit nothing zone.

the map is an abject failure and you can tell the designers have never even played a skateboarding game, let alone watched a skate vid or touched a real board.
