The decision to have the first two hours of the game be a glorified tutorial is... a bit weird. Maybe it speaks to the game being this huge sprawling experience, but having no sidequests until you are somewhere between 1.5-3 hours into the game feels kind of bonkers in terms of what does to discourse. A lot of positive reception out of Gamescom, but also some puzzlement at why it's open world or why it has the skill tree thing. Because the way these things work isn't obvious until you're promoted to sheriff. The open world has a new batch of sidequests every night. The skill trees require you to do sidequests to unlock cross-clan disciplines. This is all interesting stuff but it's not readily apparent in the opening section.
