There are other routes that exploit these plot elements so it's fine for BL to breeze through it, who the fuck cares. Slithers suck ass as a plot device anyways. What's really telling is that the best route is the one where they appear the least. We know there were several writers so it's not like it's a matter of a single person fucking up their recipe by writing in world building that never gets any payoff. A lot of the worldbuilding was made for mechanics that were planned but got dropped. I believe it just so happened the writers dedicated to BL made the best story they could with the space and ressources they were allocated. They knew slithers were garbage and they sidelined them, good for them. I'm not the type to look a gift horse into the mouth anyways.
